Oh, that is beautiful! Use it well...

I couldn't help it, I went back to Bill Riepl's sale and bought another Visconti, this time an Opera Club set in Typhoon Blue.

When does the addiction end?

Yesterday:

1) Someone gave me a Levenger True Writer Demonstrator in pink. Pink demonstrator! I'm in heaven.

2) I bought a $2 Schaeffer. It's a got a clear barrel and this will be my experiment-without-remorse pen. In particular, I want to experiment with methods of trying to convert pens into eye-droppers.

Writing instruments of the moment:

  • Pilot Prera Fountain Pen in Vivid Pink XF (Levenger ink, Pinkly).
  • Uniball α-Gel Slim Pencil in Pink (0.3mm leads).
  • Pilot 742 Fountain Pen in Black with Falcon (flex) Nib, (Pilot ink, Black).
  • Nikko G Nib in the penholder.

A co-worker was admiring one of the pens I had recently made, and we got to talking a bit about fountain pens. Tonight, she gave me a Parker Big Red Duofold, that used to belong to her grandfather. I believe it is plastic rather than hard rubber, and it has a 46 on the barrel, so I'm assuming it was made in 1946. It is rather worse for wear, with a small chip out the cap lip, and it appears the nib has been severely mashed against the inside top of the cap, as the cap will not screw on with the section in place, but will with the section removed. Someone must have reseated the nib improperly, then torqued the cap on. I think it might be possible to straighten out the nib, but it will probably be a job for a pro. I don't mind making modest adjustments, but this will likely require a nib anvil. On the bright side, is seems a fairly flexible nib, so should be fun if it can be rehabbed. Here is a pic of the nib:

MB 100th Anniversary FP and Faulkner FP. Bought them about 6 weeks ago at the Holt's sale, but they just got back from Hamburg after having nib exchanges.

Please don't encourage me to obtain any more pens. :)

Almost two months ago, I ordered the Daks Simpson Slim (red XF) and Pilot Penmanship (clear XF). Today, they finally arrived, squee! So far, I've spent the evening playing with the Simpson Slim:

A beautiful, black, Pelikan M600, fine nib, arrived this morning while I was off having root canal. My wife, who just happened to have the day off, signed for it. It lay in its package on the kitchen table when I returned, my mouth nummer than numb.

"A Pen? From Singapore? Hmm?" she asked.

"Ahh, yeth. Did that come?"

Anyway, the M600 is now filled with MB Racing Green and fitted with a customised Binder stub.

I got three Chinese pens today - a marble Huashilai, a black Jinhao Bursar Cayman Mouth, and a Jinhao Long March. The Huashilai is a little skippy and dry, but the Jinhaos are good. Think I'm going to carry the Long March for a while.

OMAS Emotica, fine point.
