What Pen Did You Get Today?

Picked up a Parker Duofold international size at the post office this morning.

I have dreamed of a Duofold for over 20 years and now I won an auction for a near mint grey-blue one. A beautiful pen! :cloud9:

Have diptested it and it writes buttersmooth. Don't think that I have a Parker converter so I will get some cartridges on my way back home ....

Finally received a couple of M-nib Rotrings I'd ordered, no thanks to those laggards at Canada Post, who seem to believe strongly in very delayed gratification.

The Rotring New Orleans feels surprisingly light for a metal pen, and gives a nice wet line. My only issue so far is that although it posts, that mechanism feels fragile, and the clip tends to rotate when I write.

I can already tell the Initial is going to be a favourite. A hefty pen that writes wet, and is proving very neat and precise for a medium nib.

Bought a Safari because I wanted to see how a medium Lamy writes (I'm getting a 2000 as soon as I have some spare cash, and assume the nib's going to be of a similar gauge). It's also going to be handy to take to work, as it won't be that big a deal if somebody walks off with it.

The brushed chrome Sheaffer Imperial pen set (FP/BP/MP) I bought from mtarrani arrived yesterday (that was fast!), and the fountain pen writes PERFECTLY! I don't know what to do with BP and MP. Probably sell it in the marketplace (crosses fingers) this weekend. But the FOUNTAIN PEN! Woo-hoo! It's FABULOUS!

A brushed chrome Sheaffer Javelin with medium nib from Pendemonium. What super nice folks. It sure won't be my last dealing with them.

Dear George and TFPN Membership;

Well, I did it -- I put in an order for a M200 with a specialty nib XXF, Full Flex; blue marble barrel Pelikan; from RichardsPens, after talking to him on the phone and getting the questions I had--answered. And!--got advice from Barbara Binder on what ink is preferred for said 'special' pen.

In addition, I found the hard to get yellow barrel Pilot Vanishing Nib, fountain pen with a fine nib. I got the 'kit' version, that comes with cartridges, converter, a case; from Colorado Pen Company. Most other places I looked for the 'loud' Yellow (easier to spot and reclaim from my sticky fingered mother LOL), were sold out or discontinued.

I have my original Pilot Vanishing Point with a fine nib. The barrel is sided and will be curious to see if any of the parts 'swap.' Might send it to Richard Binder for a customized nib job. ( After my credit cards recover from the ouch).

My Sheaffer FP, has a converter squeeze bladder but; the pen is over 15 years old. Silver brush crome with a fine nib. Don't know where I put the rest of the parts for it--or if they have been moved by family. So, it may have to be retired; as from reading the sites for Sheaffer; they have changed cartridge sizes.

Both new pens may come next week.

Respectfully,

Maria

Well after a long dry spell I finally got a PINK DECIMO! I know the clicking and the tiny ink supply will drive me crazy... but I just couldn't resist the color! It's a very elegant knocked-back, dusty kind of pale pink. I had a hard time deciding between the pink and the pearl white.

Now I have to get used to a capless all over again -- I keep trying to pull off the cap, duh... My only complaint is having to send all the way to Japan for one of these! I got the pen from Ron Dutcher at Kamakura Pens & it arrived in lightening speed!

2 pens actually; a series 1 Rotring fountain pen medium from one of my favorite ebay sellers.

I love the series one Rotrings's I want to get the pencil, next and I will have one of each type. (roller ball, ballpoint, multi pen and now a FP)

I also received my Truewriter from Levenger. I've been skeptical about these pens. To me Levenger is hit or miss when it comes to quality but I was pleasantly surprised. Medium nib, inked with PR tanzanite. writes very smooth which is important to me and seems to take to the PR ink very nicely. I like a nib to write very smooth. I'm pleased with both of them. :D

Namiki Blue Carbonesque Vanishing Point with 14k med. nib. I had always been put off by the clip on the "wrong" end, but after trying one, I was sold both figuratively and literally. What a great fountain pen!

Got a Bookworm in brown and amber, medium steel nib, which I plan to sell at the Dallas Pen Show October 3/4. Maybe I'll see you there!

Just picked up a Van Gogh Maxi in Ocean Blue with a medium nib for $137. I am very excited because this will be my first BIG pen! I currently have a Pelikan White Honey and a double jeweled Vac (which I am selling to pay for this purchase). I was wanting to get a bigger pen and was thinking about the M800, but when I found that the Maxi was cheaper from Holt's I went ahead and got the Maxi.

Then I started thinking to myself, I can get a Midi and a Vanishing Point for just a little more than if I get the Maxi. But I decided to get the big guy. I hope it was a good choice.
