What Pen Did You Get Today?

Well, I bought a reburbished Fiery Amber True Writer (F) from Levenger's Outlet on Ebay.

I received what I believe to be a Kyoto True Writer (F) (and I assume, also reburbished).

However, I am not complaining as I actually loved both styles equally and was considering buying one of each when I saw the reburb available on ebay. The Kyoto is just gorgeous - all multi-colored iridescence, subdued a bit by the black and caramel in it.

Very happy today! :D

I got a Blue Waterman Phileas w/ an M nib! But now have a powerful need to find a blue ink for it, since my BSB is already spoken for (in an Ocean Blue Al-Star). Hmmm.... :hmm1:

Three actually. All ebay purchases and all three project pens. An OS Black Sheaffer Balance that needs some restoration work to the body of the pen. The nib is very nice. The pen fills and writes well, but there are cosmetic issues. Two Vacumatics - both with issues. One has seen some hard use and will require some serious buffing/polishing and the nib needs some straightening. The other has a couple of cap lip cracks but otherwise will be a standard restoration. Both are Majors - a 1944 and 1946.

A burgundy pearl Parker Challenger arrived today. I replaced the sac, polished it up a bit and it is one fine writer. :) (Fine as in excellent, although the nib is fine, too).

Not today, but Monday. A package arrived from the Nashua Pen Spa. Inside were 4 pens that had been sent for some TLC. The pens are

(2) Kumiai eyedroppers from the 1930's & 40's -- urushi coated ebonite, very little oxidation to either

(1) Rigen eyedropper -- urushi coated but had been in a store's window for some time, it has a very interesting brown patina

(1) Noroton eyedropper - urushi coated bchr, still with price sticker

The pens had their corking replaced and nibs smoothed & adjusted.

A Teal P51 with an XF nib. It does not write like I wanted it to, but I do not know if that is the fact it was mint, and this the nib might just need some use, or if the ink is not good for it. It has PR Supershow Green in it.

Today, I received a Lamy 2000 from a friend (thanks, Lisa!), and a glass dip pen shaped like a feather I nabbed cheaply off the 'bay.

I just received the Lamy CP1 Titanium in black with a fine nib I ordered back in MAY. Apparently these are hard to find as it was backordered from then until just a couple days ago.

It's nothing very fancy, and a little lighter than I usually like but this will fit my need to FINALLY have a really good fountain pen that will actually fit comfortably in my planner. I had been using a Hero pen, but it just didn't seem to write reliably 100% of the time. As is typical with Lamy pens, it feels to be of a good quality. And although it is light-weight, the metal body has a really solid feel to it and the cap comes off easily with a satisfying but quiet "click." The cap also posts and goes back on with the same nice click.

This seems very sturdy for such a small pen and the nib looks identical to the one on the Lamy Accent I had. It is the same design but slightly smaller (I think) than the nib on my Lamy Studio.

Ahaa! I looked at those pens, looked again, and again.... sigh "not today", I said:( But email from levenger indicated True Writer demonstrators on sale, pens I looked at again and again some months ago.... I bought the pinkly and the bahama blue, fine points, which come with matching bottled ink! :) They should arrive tomorrow. Also DaniTrio from Kevin (winedoc) that blew out my budget and though I should be suffering some guilt (well shouldn't I?) it seems maki-e and urushi pens don't trigger those feelings...I am simply humbled by their beauty and extraordinary craftsmanship

May you and those you love, be always blessed with peace and never ending joy.

This is Ryan Roossinck's fault because he mentioned them, and there was only one Blue Bahama one left....

I didn't really expect to buy a pen today, but they had the blue Lamy Studio -- a pen I've been lusting after -- at Appointments in Cincinnati this morning. I swear, I was only going to buy some ink, but he got the pen out for me, let me hold it, dipped it in some ink so I could try it out... and they had an extra-fine. Sold!

I also am waiting for a pen I have out for repair, a gray transitional Esterbrook J I got at a jumble sale. It had no sac (not even crumbly, dessicated remains) and the nib literally fell apart when I ran water on it, but the pen itself was in great shape. I've sent it off to Inkpen and am hoping to put it in heavy rotation when it gets back.

I'm going to ink the Studio as soon as I hit "Post". :)
