What Pen Did You Get Today?

Received a black Visconti Skeleton to go with my demonstrator. They look even better side by side. Both are broads, of course. Tested with Suede Blue because it was handy, but need to get creative with the inks now... I've got a bottle of Sherwood Forest myself. Having good luck with the Private Reserve as it seems to keep ALL my pens happy.

A black Parker 51 Vacumatic with a fine nib. The guy who I bought it from did an immaculate job restoring it. The pen looks brand new. There isn't even any corrosion on the inside of the cap or the underside of the clip! I'm very happy with my purchase!

This is my pen. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My pen is my best friend. It is my life as a writer. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my pen is useless. Without my pen, I am useless.

Just got a Sailor Sapporo Mini and my husband bought a Blue Laque Parker Sonnet. They are both good writers. :)

Got meself the new white-coloured Lamy Safari Summer Edition with M nib from PenGallery's B&M store today.

After taking into account the RM48 rebate given for the purchase of the Pelikan M205 Demonstrator that I had bought from them early this year, the Safari only cost me RM23 (about US$6.60) :) :vbg:

Now.... what shall I fill this Safari with?

I just wanted to start a poll showing the new pens people get every day!

Have Fun!

Believe it or not, I got 6 today! 2 were returns -- I purchased a black matte Sonnet and a gray matte Sonnet from World of Pens and More some time back, and the nibs were uneven. Mr. Kaskas, when queried via email, asked me to return them and he would replace them, which he did. I cleaned the pens with soapy water, rinsed them with clean, and inked them with Noodlers la Coleur Royale -- they work fine.

Remember some time back when Jared G left a post advertising soup and a pen for $5, including shipping? I ordered 4 -- one for me, and one for each of my 3 older grandkids, age 9, almost 8, and 5. The pens are apparently school pens, made by Sailor. Came with a black ink cartridge in the barrel, and a package of instant Japanese soup. Since they are cartridge fillers, I couldn't clean them in soapy water, so I just opened and inked one to test it. Nice fine line, not too much tooth, but not very wet. Possibly too fine for the grandkids, but for $5 each, if they break them quickly, it's not a tremendous loss to me.

I had a bumper crop! Yesterday, a green Hero 329 F, NOS Pelikan M100 EF, and a black Pilot 78G B. Today, a brushed stainless CT Parker 45 M, courtesy of NeoTiger.

I'm really pleased with the Parker and Hero; nice wet nibs. On the other hand the Pel and Pilot are disappointingly dry and scratchy, even after flushing the nibs with veeeery slightly soapy water. (Any suggestions?)

I have all of them loaded with Pelikan Brilliant Black, apart from the Parker, which has a grapey mix of Pel Red & Violet and Skrip Blue-black (2:1:1).

Through a friend I was able to acquire a Parker Sonnett...black lacquer w/gold trim. The nib (M) writes very smoothly. Using the supplied cartridge for now, but will probably go with some Quink blue.

A couple of Pilot 78Gs, one with a B and one with a M nib arrived yesterday from Speerbob in Thailand. Did the soapy water flush, but they still needed an ammonia flush to get started. Now they're up and writing and very nice to use. No pens due today, just a bunch of tea from Upton Tea Company. Sometime in the coming week two Haolilai pens are due from Isellpens. Only cheap pens on the horizon for the moment since I just got a used Pelikan 620 Piazza Navona off of Pentrace's Green Board. Arrived two days ago. :happyberet:

I do not mean to threadcrap, but I am curious - are the pilot 78G medium nibs smooth, wet and resonably mediumish ? I tried a Pilot Knight a couple days ago and even though the nib said medium, it wrote more like a F or an EF (I disliked that, I ended up returning it to Office Depot). I have seen Speerbob's auctions (I was curious about the Pilot Birdie) and want to know if it's worth trying out a 78G...

Edit: Nevermind, I found the answer here-

I went to Joon's on Lexington Avenue in NYC to buy a Montblanc 149 with an EF nib, but was told they had no 149s in stock. However, there was one last 149 75th Anniversary Edition left in the display case, and it had an EF nib. I got it for much less than I would have had to pay for the standard model.

I am not really sure -- my lovely and agitated bride called this morning to tell me she had to sign for a package from Hong Kong, addressed to me, and the dogs (2 lhasa apsos, 1 longhaired chihuahua) went nuts, knocked over a table and an oil lamp and made her late for a Dr appointment. I don't remember ordering anything from HKong, but I did order/win on eBay 2 pens from Thailand, which might have gone through HKong?
