What Pen Did You Get Today?

The mail was generous today. I got three JinHaos, a Golden Dragon FP & rollerball, and an Olympics Torch 2008 commemorative. Also, my new major joy, the Lamy Joy 1.9 calligraphy pen.

The JinHaos are hilarious, they are huge and heavy! The "18k Gold" nib is electroplated and looks like it was done by a preschooler on crack. They're all too funny to take seriously. The FP was the big surprise, it's a nice, smooth writer and Shrek would love it if he could lift it. Only $42 and 3 weeks lost on this adventure but the hysterical laughter was worth it!

The Joy is awesome!

On Friday, I got the Parkville Pen 5th anniversary limited. I'd been wanting a Bexley Poseidon-based pen, I'd just been waiting for the right one -- and I loved the color on this one.

On Saturday, I got an oddball Marlen.

A Reform 1745 from Lex. Had to search for directions on how to load it. Presently have it filled with Noodlers Sequoia but I'll have to get this pen it's own ink.

My Visconti Evergreen arrived from PrahaBleu and I am really delighted with it. :cloud9:

It's beautiful and the M nib is butter smooth, although finer than what I am used to in a M.

Namiki Bamboo, black resin, Fine.

After reading the FPN reviews, I was a bit concerned about the stepped barrel but have been pleasantly surprised at the ergonomics of this pen.

A blue Pelikan 200 from Mr. Binder (thank you, sir!). And a blue Lamy Safari.

Also a bottle of Lamy black and Pelikan black to add to my ink bottle collection.

Take care and God bless,

A Monteverde Charisma White Marble Resin Fountain Pen. Medium nib. It was on sale at Gold Spot and it was one of those days I just wanted to buy myself something. I was intrigued by the "invert-and-inset" capless design " and couldn't resist  . I think its a handsome pen and feels good in the hand. A great everyday pen and writes very well. Cartridge only inked with PR Tanzanite.

I went down to Florida to help my elderly parents move out of their house and into an assisted care facility. While packing up we came across some gems -

- My grade school fountain pen!!! Whooe!! Sheaffer school pen, transparent red body, curved ends, bite marks on the end, so you know it's authentic. I filled it up with Skrip Blue, and it writes just as nice as you please, even though it's been spending the last 35+ years in a drawer.

- A Parker 21 desk pen, completely gunked up with some dark ink so that an initial rinse barely made a dent. I'm letting it soak overnight, now.

- Last but certainly not least, a blue/gray Parker 51 pen & pencil set!! Yahoo! Bingo!! The aerometric pen has a 13 striped arrow cap, as opposed to the 17 striped arrow cap on my existing 51. It came filled with a beautiful aqua blue ink of unknown provenance, but it sure was purty. Now I've washed it out and have Noodler's Legal Lapis in it, which matches the body color quite nicely. The matching pencil is in almost mint condition, and the set came with the display case, leather, with a big "51" in a circle stamped across the top.

I'm in FP heaven right now. :cloud9:

WOW, what a terrific looking pen. Priced right too. Did you get the Celluloid or Ebonite barrel? Can you provide a review? (short is fine)

Thanks,

Gawain

I received my first vintage specimen - a Parker Vacumatic.

It looks pretty, writes well.....

I'm a little confused by how often it needs refilling and its awfully gushy - me thinks I is doing it wrong???

So I'm opinionated - get over it!!.......No, really - get over it!!

Hmmmm I was going to put up a WANTS list - but that's too long as well ......
