Brown 02 - Hieronymus

Hieronymus Stationers Ag is Suisse company that specialises in the manufacture and sale of premium stationery goods (paper, pens, inks). The company is located in Zurich but operates also via the website www.hieronymus-cp.com. They offer a wide variety of luxury products and I believe they market themselves skillfully and in an elegant way. I advice you to watch short promotional clips on their internet site.

Among other products Hieronymus offers inks. I'm not sure who makes them for you but the bottles are unique and loos stunning on the photos:

The inks are definitely priced premium - with the price of 48 CHF they outclass Caran d'Ache and Iroshizuku inks. I believe only Luis Vuitton inks are more expensive (50 euros / bottle)? If I'm wrong, please, correct me.

I've received few samples of their inks. I won't tell you which ones, lety it be surprise :) The inks I've already reviewed are:

  1. Blue 01
  2. Blue 02
  3. Brown 02
  4. Dark Grey
  5. Green 01

Brown 02 is subtle shade of warm Brown. I enjoy this ink. It's well-behaved, water resistant to some extent amnd has excellent flow. It's not strongly saturated though. I'm curious about Brown 01 but I don't have a sample.

Hieronymus Brown One is the same "hue" BUT darker. I have enjoyed it for probably two weeks since receiving it yet it is very unlike any other "browns" I have.

I really wouldn't have liked this or "THREE" even though I use mostly as broad nibs as possible. I can't imagine them in a fine or extra fine that I am aware most people seem to prefer.

Thanks for another fine review. Cacao Du Bresil was my first thought too.

I am hoping to see their Violet 01, but Vis seems to have taken a vow of silence and wants to keep us guessing

Interesting. I like the bottle, but the shade is much too light for my taste.

I also am more interested in less-premium-priced inks as I expand the variety of colors I might use. <smiley>

I thought of Cacao du Bresil as well, and also of R&K Sepia. Either way, it's a red-free brown--that's the way I like 'em. The shading is beautiful!

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

How does this compare to J Herbin Cacao Du Bresil?

Agreed. I'm not sure the world needs another lavender-brown. Looks nice, though.
