... From My Cold, Inky Fingers.

I've mentioned before that there are only six colors for writing.

Black (Heart of Darkness)
Blue-Black (Pilot)
Purple (De Atramentis Aubergine)
Blue (Noodler's Blue, for now)
Green (Diamine Sherwood)
Brown (Iroshizuki Yama-Guri)

And I do need some markup colors:

Red (Sheaffer Skrip)
Turquoise (Sheaffer Skrip)

So that's eight bottles.

I'll take an extra of HoD, and another of Yama-Guri. Or possibly an exploratory blue or two, cos I worry about the flow and cleanup with Noodler's Blue. What other blues are noted for lightfastness?

No, that's not right. In place of the duplicates, I'll take a bottle of Perle Noire pint bottle of Parker Permanent Black Quink with Solv-X for Dad's "51", and a second, more conventional (ie more royal than cyan) and yet still lightfast blue.

It's worth noting that the rules say nothing against replacing the empties.

Well, I've been thinking about this ... I also think about this when I contemplate the fact that the original maker of PR inks passed away this year, many of the boutique Sailor inks are made by only two people, Dr. J of De Atramentis is a one man inker, and Noodler's is a one Nathan shop. So, maybe I need more than one bottle.

Oh, wait, back to the topic.

I'd have to take a De Atramentis Document ink because it makes any other ink wetter and better behaved. (Probably I'd take Turquoise because it doesn't stain) I'd also take Ghost Blue because I can add it to other colors. So, as for the other 8, I would take inks that mix well. And one bottle with various ink powders (individually wrapped) so I could mix to my heart's content.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hm. Ten bottles. Well, we'll start with Noodler's, as it's possible to get one-gallon bottles:

2 x Navajo Turquoise (1 gallon) (NT has ruined me for other inks; I never want to run out)

Le Couleur Royale (1 gallon) (it's nice on its own, and I can then have as much Inkmyn Sapphire as I want)

Air-Corp Blue-Black (1 gallon) (I don't normally go for deep and dark, but just in case)

Now, for everything else:

Lamy Copper-Orange

Iroshizuku Yama-budo

J. Herbin 1670 Emerald of Chivor

Sailor Yama-dori

That's only eight; I'd probably double up the Copper-Orange and Emerald of Chivor.

Well, that's how I'd go today, anyhow.

Now why didn't I think of that?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
