Dark Grey - Hieronymus

Hieronymus Stationers Ag is Suisse company that specialises in the manufacture and sale of premium stationery goods (paper, pens, inks). The company is located in Zurich but operates also via the website www.hieronymus-cp.com. They offer a wide variety of luxury products and I believe they market themselves skillfully and in an elegant way. I advice you to watch short promotional clips on their internet site.

Among other products Hieronymus offers inks. I'm not sure who makes them for you but the bottles are unique and loos stunning on the photos:

The inks are definitely priced premium - with the price of 48 CHF they outclass Caran d'Ache and Iroshizuku inks. I believe only Luis Vuitton inks are more expensive (50 euros / bottle)? If I'm wrong, please, correct me.

I've received few samples of their inks. I won't tell you which ones, lety it be surprise :) The inks I've already reviewed are:

  1. Blue 01
  2. Blue 02
  3. Dark Grey
  4. Green 01

Dark Grey is OK grey ink. Nothing spectacular but well behaved and with some water resistance. I can say it's nice but there are more interesting greys on the market.

Yep... Lexington grey still one of my fav greys. This one doesn't look very good on cream paper, which I use a lot.

Thanks Vis...

P.S. Green 01 and Blue 01 are my favorites for now... (I really want to see Brown 01)

Thanks. For a dark grey I find it pretty light (so far no problem) but it makes me wonder how light their Light Grey is....

Hmm, as someone mentioned, the pattern seems to be just to water down the full strength version. Shame.

I like Lexington Gray, but my favorite is Faber-Castell Stone Grey. Also favorites in the gray/grey family are Maruzen Hatobanezu and Iroshizuku Kiri-same.

This Hieronymus is very light. Since I prefer grays paired with EF or F nibs (for the sharp pencil effect), I'm wondering how this would compare to the F-CSG. It's a pretty shade of gray, regardless.

  • 2 weeks later...

this reminds me a bit of Omas grey, with its lightness in color tone. this looks far to light to be called dark grey. though this is still nice, Diamine grey is my go-to grey, which is darker than this one.
