Inky T O D - Going To A Conference, What Pens And Inks Do You Take?

Hmm - guess it depends on the conference.

If it is a conference where I am a participant, probably something that writes very well like my Lamy 2000 with Callifolio Bleu Atlantique.

If I am a speaker, I will likely have something a bit showy but still refined, like my FC Panther 40 with FC Midnight Emerald, or my Delta Capri with Callifolio Bleu Ultramarine.

If I am just there to have fun, then a fun pen like my Lamy CopperOrange with R & K Fernambuk.

Lets see....

Assuming its a local conference (~50 miles from home) I would probably do some variation of the following:

I would likely have my Franklin planner with me. I always have a Parker 45 Flighter ballpoint and mechanical pencil in its pen loops. I would likely have one of my 45 Flighter fountain pens as well. Ink? Whatever was in it at the time. Right now its Diamine Blue Black. I might put something bright in it though. Pomegranate, Red Cashmere, Uluru Red, Classic Red or Apache Sunset.

For something with a bit more capacity, probably one of my M200's. The Cognac has a fine nib so it would likely be the choice rather than the blue marbled with the OB. Right now it has Blackstone Sydney Harbour Blue.

For some fun? At least one and maybe both my TWSBI's. A 580 with B Tomahawk stub and/or a Eco with 1.1 stub. (right now its Akkerman Shocking Blue in the 580 and Diamine Saddle Brown in the Eco) If I wanted to bump it to 5/6 maybe one would be an Esterbrook.

If I could only take two fountain pens, it would probably be M200 Cognac - classy but low key and the P45 Flighter F for something different. Maybe throw in a couple of carts in my bag as a back up if the 45 ran out. Or one of the TWSBI's....

Brad, I envy that you can attend a local conference. I confess that by the time I get to the strip to the hotel, I don't want to leave and would be more likely to take more ink than if I were flying to Reno.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I haven't been to a conference since I got bit by the fountain pen bug, but I will be attending two conferences next month. I will be presenting in both of them, so something subdued yet distinct is my goal. I will probably take my EDC combination - Pilot Prera fine nib, inked with Iroshizuku Shin-kai.

Most of the local ones I have been to have been single day events.

I haven't been to one out of town since, 2009 I think. Two or three days in San Francisco. I don't remember if I used a bp or a fp at that one.

I take the Lamy 2000 for the ease of making short notes with the slip cap and Pilot Custom 92. Both can go into a pocket if needed and are very comfortable for long or short notes.
