Fpn Dumas Tulipe Noire: Will It Stain?

PaperQueen

Recommended Posts

Just received my bottle of FPN Dumas Tulipe Noire, and can hardly wait to ink up. This is exactly the color I've been searching for! :bunny01:

One question: Is there a stain risk in a demonstrator? I'm wobbling between the TWSBI Diamond 580 and the Pelikan m805, but don't want to regret the choice later.

Wisdom to share, anyone...?

Why are there fourteen samples of dark plum ink on my desk? Because I still haven't found the right shade.

Is that a problem...??? : : : sigh : : :

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....

:::whew!:::

Still, think I'll give it a spin in one of my J. Herbin pens, using a Rosetta converter. If the converter stains at all, this goes into a different pen.

Thanks for chiming in, ladies. :)

I've used it my M200 and in my TWSBI 580 - not stains in either. Though overall, my TWSBI has been more resistant to stains than my M200.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It will be a while before these end up in my rotation again.

No sign of staining in the TWSBI Eco either (so much for that J. Herbin/converter idea).

I've felt the TWSBIs are a bit better about staining too, amberleadavis. Am really going to play it safe with the m805. Hmmm...which ink will be worthy...? :notworthy1:

I have nothing but good things to say about this ink now! It hasn't had any real problems so far and it's a pretty color! You will be fine in a Demo pen. Never had it stain so far! :)

Difference in materials?

  • 2 weeks later...

So, what did you choose?

Would you believe it's still empty? I've been out of state the past 10 days, helping pack and move my 95 year old grandmother into an independent living community (you read that right, independent living at 95---she's amazing).

I'm hip deep in the bidding process from sub-contractors who will be updating her home next month, so my beloved pens have taken a back seat. :(

On a lovely note, however...guess who inherited her 50-year-old wooden sewing box? PERFECT for pens, plus the lower well is deep enough for even Noodler's ink bottles, still in their boxes. I've already removed the dividers in the top "boxes" to accommodate pen tray inserts. :)

Made a couple of repairs to the box, slipped in the trays...a few tools...ink bottles...and voila! It's a Pen Condo!

Rollerballs will have to move from the right hand drawer to the leather pen cases again, making room for fountain pens...soon...as in the next couple of weeks, with an Edison Mena Extended and Lamy 2000 on the way.

Pen drawers:

The Tool Box

Complete with four Jinhao pens for "tune up" practice, plus a couple of the J. Herbin demonstrators in the center section.

The Ink Well

Literally, it's a well, in the bottom of the box. Perfect name for this perfect purpose.

Can't get over how ideal this is for pens and inks. Wow.

My mother has one of her own as well, fireant. She hasn't used it in more than 30 years, so guess who's angling to adopt a second sewing box...?
