What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Poison ivy is a vine.  I don't know whether copper nails would work or not, but I can't imagine that there'd be any law against eradicating it.  As for getting copper nails?  Well, if you live someplace where a lot of homes have slate/shale roofs, they're probably easier to find (our old house had a slate/shale roof and we lost some of the original tiles due to a lightning strike and the roofers who came out to do the repairs said it was probably the original roof from when the house was built in the 1920s -- with the original copper nails; they ALSO told us that because we didn't have any large trees around the house, the roof tiles were still in really good shape for the most part except of course for the few where the strike actually happened).

A few years ago there was a scare about giant hogweed possibly moving into my area from other parts of PA (you can get a bad rash from it as well, and it is also really bad for livestock to ingest).  I had some sort of rash on my hand, after working on trimming the hedge along the driveway at the time.  So I contacted the PA Dept. of Agriculture to ask what giant hogweed looked like, and their response was "OMG -- if you have it in your yard let us know ASAP and we'll come out and spray FOR you!"  And they sort of implied that regular household weedkillers wouldn't be strong enough and that they would be showing up in hazmat suits and wielding sprayers with Agent Orange (the stuff the US military used in Vietnam to clear brush). :o

O....M....G....
Giant Hogweed is literally deadly.
One of the worst of the worst of the worst.
Wouldn't wish an encounter with that demon-spawn plant on my worst enemy.

Yeah, and it was creeping into the Pittsburgh area a few years ago -- and the Dept. of Agriculture and the County Health Dept. were in a complete panic.

Now mind you, I could JUST have had a mild case of poison ivy, because I put stuff on it right away -- but it was sort of like boils, not a rash, and hogweed had been all over the news at the time.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Wow....I hope that they've got it under control. I would hate to run into that demon-plant after I move to PA. :(
That's truly nightmarish stuff.

Nicely done! I hope you're enjoying it. Which nib did you get?

I got the fine as the fine nib on my Metropolitan is awesome! Unfortunately, the fine on the Prera isn't quite up to par with the Metro but I'm going to try and smooth it out. I love the feel of the pen otherwise.

Kaweco Sport

Silver-toned fittings

White

M nib

Currently inked w/Diamine Writer’s Blood

I hadn’t thought I wanted one if these pens, but finally decided I did. Saw it in new light, appreciated it more, had to have one.

It will never end up as a favorite for me, but I am definitely enjoying it. Think it’ll become my go-to for hiking and notes while in the woods.

This.
This is why I love my Delike Element.
Apocalypse fountain pen.

I went to Feniks (a department store) to buy some thin, pocket-sized notebooks for note-jotting on long walks and bike rides... and picked up a Uni-Ball Signo 0.5 retractable gel pen. I'm becoming impatient for my gel pen refills to arrive from the U.S.....

An FC e-motion in black with a broad nib. Much nicer than I even expected. Have it inked with Akkerman's Treves-Turqouise.

Finally grabbed a quick picture of my latest impulse - a Karas Kustoms Vertex - which is an absolute joy to write with, I think largely because of the shape of the section. The broad Ti nib was a bit blobby, so I've taken it down to something around a medium CI, and I'm delighted with it. I might have to have a black one somewhere along the line.

Well...this wasn't really "impulsive", but it was a LONG dormant itch that I've finally decided to scratch. And when I decided, it just "happened" quite fast.

I've always wanted a Visconti.

I've always loved the Homo Sapiens Bronze Age.

Then the Medici Brown (now called Rose Savrano) came out -- same size/form factor/filling system -- but gorgeous.

Saw it at a pen show and was floored. Decided I wanted one. But too expensive...

I've been saving up credit card reward points for almost two years now and hadn't thought of what to spend them on when all of a sudden I saw a picture of the Medici Rose Savrano.

Decided that Visconti's reputation for nib "quality control" warranted getting it from Nibs.com since they tune each nib prior to shipping. And that was that. I hope to receive it before the weekend.

I think I just bought my last pen.

Looks like Vinta Sirena.

 Hm!
Also looks like one of my new faves, Kyo-no-oto Urahairo.

LOL, I know it's a hollow sounding phrase for the likes of us around here, but I only have 15 (well, now 16) pens to my name after all these years in the "hobby".

The only other pens on my wish list are a Leonardo Momento Zero Grande custom made in the old Omas Arco Brown material (which was going to cost 1,500.00 when I last inquired) and a Pelikan M800 green stripe with an IB nib.

I have decided the custom Momento Zero is just too much money and I can easily just buy a Pelikan IB nib for one of my current three Pelikans. So maybe it really WILL be my last pen...

Congrats on your new purchase. Looks nice -- no nib pics??!

It is indeed Vinta Sirena. It's not a perfect match (that honour goes to Sailor Studio 162), but I wanted something a bit less well behaved for testing the pen and nib. It's quite a bit lighter than urahairo (which I also love) and has this extraordinary pink/brown thing going on as it dries. I'm very into ridiculously pale and interesting inks at the moment!

If you don't mind posting a photo for us later, it would be nice to see it nevertheless. I don't think I've seen one. Thank you!

The pen arrived already today. Here are some photos, including one for size comparison with a Centennial (I don't at present own an International, which would been nice to include for reference). It is quite a small pen, at 116.53 mm capped, and 13.70 mm thick at the widest point of the cap (not over the cap rings though). The thickness makes the pen fairly proportional, but I think a thicker/stubbier shape would have been nicer. However, it does post nicely so I am able to write with it.

The color as reproduced here is pretty accurate to real life, I think, at least on my monitor. You can see that the olive green is very subtle, it only shows at a certain angle of reflection. I included one shot of the cap lighted from within, which at least proves that some of the checks are, in fact, olive green.
