Nemosine Singularity with medium nib. I popped into the new pen shop in Pittsburgh and couldn't resist the purchase. After all it's my duty to support the entrepreneurial sprit, right?

I was in a HUGE hurry, running late to a staff meeting that I was facilitating, so in one ten minute sweep through the pen store I bought:

Lamy Safari, black w M nib (I actually bought it thinking it was an AL-Star. duh.),

Pilot Prera, orange w M nib,

Pilot Prera, green w F nib,

Sheaffer VFM, blue w F nib,

and 4 pkgs of PR blue-black cartridges.

I picked up a semi-vintage M400 tortoise (the Levenger edition) in great condition from the Dallas Pen show this weekend. I totally did not plan to buy a tortoise...went there to see a modern green M600, but you know how that goes. Saw the new tortoise too, but it wasn't near as pretty as the vintage one I ended up with.

I love my Levenger brown tortoise (there is argument about the exact model number, but no difficulty in identifying it). Mine has the F nib, and right now I have Papier Plume's Sepia in it. From whom did you find yours?

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Got it from Pete Kirby of Petespenshop.com. It was actually in one of those plastic bins with a bunch of other lower priced stuff. I always sort through those looking for gems and never expect to find any...guess I did OK this time!

What kills me is that another vendor at the Pen Show had the exact same tortoise Levenger edition brand new in box, never inked, for 200 bucks!! I was going back and forth on getting it because I was there solely for a green M600 and I wasn't looking for a tortoise at all. He said he'd had it since new and no one had ever shown any interest in it...I laughed and was like you must not have a website to advertise your pens (he confirmed that he did not). Then I told him he would sell that pen that very day for sure, and possibly to me. I walked away to research pricing and then stumbled across the other tortoise in the "bargain bin" and couldn't decide between one of the tortoises or the green M600 (and to make matters worse, I felt the M600 might be a bit too thick and that maybe a green M400 would be better).

Finally, I go back to him ready to buy the new in box Levenger tortoise and he tells me he sold it not ten minutes ago. I was rather displeased with myself to be quite honest and decided I would need to snap up the other tortoise from Pete Kirby before it too disappeared. I ordered a green M400 online last night too, LOL...it was an expensive weekend.

Two more Onotos (not again!), one I expect to be a 3000 (it was not properly identified) because I like the slim style and plain No 3 nib, while the other is a 6234 because I so like the No 5 nib, and this one is a colourful celluloid where the present one is BHR.

The were sent from Europe just ten days ago and the local PO has notified me this morning that they are here to collect. Good work from French Post, compared with usual delays from greater Europe and America.

Editing to confirm the first is a 3000, older than my other one (from wording on pen, nib type)

I was in there last week dip testing those to see what the different nib widths were like. But because I was about to go out of town, I didn't actually get one. So, it's not an impulse buy for me.

I'm going antiquing with my in-laws tomorrow, so there may be an impulse buy in the forecast. ;) But I forgot to pack the loupe.... :wallbash:

Found a pretty-looking Elite pen on eBay... Definitely needs work, but I figured an 18K warranted nib that looked to be in good shape might be worth the effort for <$30.

Haven't been able to hunt down any good info on the brand though, even here. :-( So I guess I will be trying to de-gunk it with plain warm water, lest I dissolve a part that shouldn't be dissolved. lol

I thought you'd put a hold on Onotos for the moment...but they do sound like nice pens.

True. This is in the "impulsive acquisition" thread after all.

No, I shall praise myself for my wonderful restraint, not buying an Onoto 4601 and a gold-filled Waterman 52 . I was able to resist because they would be duplicates....

A few old pens found at a bin in the flea market... 2 wearever cartridge, one wearver lever fill and 3 unrecognizable pens (for parts).... paid $5 for it all.

The 3 wearever seem to be usable, hve not attempeted to use the one with elver fill but the cartridge ones are OK. I like the clear feed

A Staedtler Premium Corium Urbes "Moscow" described as "Used" and with "Slight cosmetic imperfection on the front, side, or back of item" - at £15 I couldn't resist giving it a whirl; we'll see what kind of road kill turns up in a week or so!

A Faber-Castell Loom with a fine nib.

I'm a bit of a newbie in the fountain pen world and I must say my wishlist is growing fast while spending time here on the fountainpennetwork... B)
