What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

The ones with model numbers 11-1503-* all have (no other option but) MF nibs, as do the ones with model numbers 11-1300-* (Stellar Blue, Rose Taupe, etc.) The Morita store-exclusive, which some (re-)sellers are offering on eBay, come in (at least) F and MF nibs. Listings for some of the more colourful ones — with vastly higher asking prices — show every nib option from EF to Zoom and Music between them (but not necessarily all available for a particular model).

I think the marketing images make the colour look more (alluringly) blue-grey, when in reality it looks more like a pale/baby blue. I guess I'll find out if that is actually the case soon, although right now my order is being held up by another item that isn't in stock.

The upcoming Sailor Professional Gear Slim Blue Green Nebula was on (pre-order) offer from EndlessPens for US$94 two weeks ago.

I don’t see the Green Nebula pen there now.  I want a regular sized Slim in a fine nib, since I already have a MF.  I think the only fine nib option on Endless is a white one.  Interested in Blueberry, Metallic Violet, or Blue Dwarf.  The latter is all one color, the first two have the black section of the barrel just above the nib.  That black bugs me for some reason...plus I love the versions with the little sparkles, which is why I like the Blue Dwarf, and also a red one I’ve seen - Supernova, maybe?  No rush here, I’ll wait till a color I like in the fine nib shows up, I’m sure it will eventually.

Congrats! I had been thinking about getting that pen before I hope you enjoy it. It will have a thinner section than the Dorsal fin. The only one with the section the same as the Dorsal Fin V1/V2 is the 17mm  models. That said I also like my Portable Cigar, Piccolo, and Decapod. I just like the thicker section on my Dorsal Fin v1 a little better and some day will get a 17mm or DF2 to go with it.

yeah.. no question that the DF has some girth...  the Portable Cigar has a section of .4"... same as my M800s so I'm sure it will be fine....  I am sensitive to pens that are too narrow tho and my M205 is a case in point.  I use for my planner (because it's small enough to keep handy) and that's about it.

Over the weekend, I sold some inks on pen_swap and so had a bit of paypal cash burning a hole.

I ended up buying three Parker 21s from a seller on there. I was going to get just one of them, but I couldn't decide which color I wanted (red, green, black). So I said screw it, and I impulsively bought all three.

I do all of my pen measurements in mm since I find it easier to compare.

My Portable Cigar measures 10.5-11.5mm. My DF is 12-13mm. My Pelkan M800 is 11mm. Not sure why I didn't measure the full range of the M800. I don't find the Portable Cigar too thin, it's just thinner than a DF.

I hope you enjoy the new pen and am looking forward to seeing pics!

Yes, the pre-order allocation sold out in about two days, even though a Hop Drop campaign (of which the US$94 offer for a Blue Green Nebula was part) usually lasts a full week. I passed on it, because I wasn't of a mind to put together a ≥US$500 order to qualify for free international shipping; and I wasn't (and am not) prepared to pay US$20 or more in postage for a US$94 pen.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Okay, so I may have ordered an Lamy 2K <BB> yesterday from Pen Chalet.

In my defense, I had some store credit and a coupon, so it only cost me about $110 - though of course I proceeded to then include $40 of ink in the order, as well.

I had an EF one some time back - I did not love the nib and always wished I had gotten a F or M nib.

But I have been strongly considering the B or BB for some time now. I don't need it as a daily driver - just something fun to play with. (which is why I was waiting until I could get a good price on it - but yesterday was not the day I was planning to buy it. Hence:  impulse. LOL)

And if I hate it, I will sell it on or get it ground down to a Medium stub or something else interesting.

Normally, Medium's tend to be smoother than F's, and B's even more so.

Medium and B's are good for classic rough paper; laid or linen effect.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

You guys had me worried. It isn't actually that big, in terms of either length or girth, at least from what my eyeballs and my writing hand tell me.

It's lovely. I particularly like it that it's dark at the front (where the clip is when the pen is capped), almost as dark at the back, but almost luminescent on both sides.

2.) the Edison Collier as a pen?

With such high quality body material, excellent fit and finish, and a steel EF nib that suits my tastes* and exceed my expectations, I think the Collier surpasses the Leonardo Momento Zero and Furore in every way at around the same price point, and hope Edison Pen Co. eats Leonardo Officina Italiana's lunch, and deals the latter some body blows in the market so that Leonardo has to pick up its act to have a hope of competing after it finished reeling from the hits it took.

* The EF nib on my Edison Collier is finer than some of my Japanese EF nibs, very precise, and has more feedback — akin to writing with a 4H pencil — than most of my Sailor and Platinum nibs, so I take it not everyone else will enjoy using it as much as I do.

I just got a Pilot Custom 912 with an FA nib.  This was really an impulse acquisition in the true sense.

I really, really like the nib on this pen.  Nice and soft with decent ink flow and very useable semi-flex performance.  Certainly more useable than my Pelikan 400nn.

It's also a nicely sized pen in my favourite colours....

....full black with silver trim.  🥱🛌, I know.... I know..

Congrats! Ground mine to a CI. Because crazy. Also added the FNF 2 slot Ebonite feed. Black flat-tops with silver trim Rule! 🤪

Add lightness and simplicate.

I found myself with some unexpected paypal money this morning, so I just bought my first Leonardo (a Dark Hawaii Momento Zero LE) AND my first FC - a vintage green 45L. Two modern pens. I may have to go and have a little lie down to get over the shock...

I'll have the Leonardo tomorrow :) The FC will no doubt trundle its way slowly across the globe and then be ransomed for VAT/duty/etc, but I've only heard good things about them, so it will a treat when it arrives. I don't think I'll know what to do with a pen I don't have to fix up before I can use it!

Oh yes please.
It's OK though, a couple of new (old) chicks landed earlier in the week, so the flock isn't being left out. I'm sure both of them need a bit of a wash and brush up, along with a couple of other new arrivals, so the new pen shock will wear off pretty quickly and I'll soon be covered in ink and old pen gunk again.

I have been eyeing that Vintage Green 45L FC, it’s very simple and elegant looking.  I got my first from them a week or so ago, the Blue Orchid 46, just their standard steel nib, fine.  It’s a really nice pen, smooth and reliable writing.  So tempted to buy another, but with their limited stock, and never knowing what will become available next, it’s hard to decide.  I am worried that I will choose and buy a pen, and the next day they will list one I like better.
