I have several Edison pens, and haven’t noticed any smell or odor with any of them.

Sorry, it was a bit of an inside joke with carola (anyway from another thread).

Sometimes when one machines and polishes solid acrylic, the acrylic gets warm and melts a little (just a few microns) on the surface, and it leaves an odor (like wet nail polish) to which some people are sensitive. I can sometimes smell it, but it is not usually objectionable. Others find it intolerable.

The good news is that the volatile bits of the mixture tend to out-gas with time and the odor reduces dramatically or even disappears. I only usually notice on pens less than a year of two old that I don't open very often. I have six Edisons, and the odor is noticeable to me on maybe three of them, and very noticeable on one of them, perhaps not coincidentally, the one I use the least.

Yup. I´m afraid I am rather sensitive to that kind of smell AND have a pen that is rather... let´s call it intense.

Probably I should use it more often to make the smell evaporate faster, but well...

...or leave it open lying around somewhere well-ventilated, where you don’t hang out much...😃

This pen from ESS, because I want to try registrar ink and not ruin a good pen.  It is made specifically for registrar ink use.

Just as I suspected when I looked into getting a bottle ESSRI a few years ago -- the pen is a Parker Vector....   I considered ordering a pen as well, simply because it would have balanced out the exorbitant shipping charges to the US (which are probably worse now).  But I wasn't sure I'd get any choice of pen color (and I already HAVE two black Vectors).  And I wasn't sure that I could go through that much ink (even if I didn't use any other ink) before the IG components started to precipitate out:  100 ml is a LOT of ink....

And I'm sort of glad of that decision in retrospect -- I just filled a pen with Akkerman IZjer-Galnoten a couple of days ago and have been having issues (the bottle is about half empty at this point): the ink in the neck of the bottle had dried up, causing the glass bead to get stuck; and I had to shake the bottle up to get it dislodged.  As a result, I think that there's a problem with the ink in general now -- it's not NEARLY as black as I remembered it being: more of a medium grey even after oxidizing for a few days. :(  So, much as I'm interested in trying ESSRI, I'm unlikely to unless they start selling it in smaller quantities.

I'll recommend that at the first opportunity, though, you spring for a twist converter.  The slide converters are pretty much garbage, IMO.  And let us know how you like the ink (I always could be persuaded to change my mind...).

... which is rather difficult in a 62 m² flat. Well, there is the garage... 🙈

Yes, 100ml is quite a lot of ink. Being stuck in pandemic house arrest means too many opportunities for an abstract thinker to find new realms to explore and experiences to be had. With that in mind,  the cost of the pen and ink seemed a reasonable expense. I can always pass both on to my artistic 10 years old grandson once I finish with them.

Well, this thread was there.  I bought 2 Parker Jotter green desk pens.  Sadly without the blocks for the desk.

One I ordered today (re-bought!): M605 Stresseman. I guess I am getting more into grey pens?! Hopefully I won't be underwhelmed like last time, I had waited years for this model to come out in the M600 size!

It is always good to hear from a fellow M6xx fan. A pen with wonderful size, weight, and balance, at least for me.

To me, the Stresemann is particularly interesting in that it does not seem to scream “look at me!”, yet when one really examines it carefully in the light, one notices the chatoyance and changes is shading of the pen as it rotates. It is quite subtle, yet to me very interesting.

I would be interested to hear from someone who is severely colorblind what differences s/he perceives between the traditional  red/green/blue striped Souveräns and the Stresemann.

Yes, fellow M600 fan here! I like the fact that is understated and demands a closer look. As I recall, the only thing I did not like last time was the EF nib grind which was a gusher and too 'mushy' and the black cap! Here's hoping that I like this one better. After all, it seems I do need all the M600 stripes 😋

Nice! This one's on my short list--it really does seem to hit the sweet spot in terms of size and weight.

M805 in blue/black with rhodium trim (F). Upon entering the slippery slope of the rabbit hole, which is only a couple of years ago, I doubted between this one and the über-classic green/black with gold trim (M). The latter won. And the former, as of yesterday, also.

Nice looking pen.  I bought a Molteni in the same material last year, and gifted it to my niece with some KWZ Honey-she loved it.

This morning I pulled out my driveway and drove to a place about a half-hour northeast of me, to stand in sub-freezing temperatures while it was still dark.  Just to go to an estate sale company's wearhouse sale, which opened at 7 AM (fortunately getting there as early as I did meant that I was one of the first 21 people allowed in (due to social distancing).  Got out a half hour later with a Platinum 6 nib unit italic set, a couple of calligraphy pamphlets, and a Parker 21 (which I didn't look at carefully enough because my glasses were fogging up -- partly from the change in temperature from "outside" to "in a building again" and partly because of the mask I was wearing -- and thought it was a 51 Demi by mistake; and also didn't notice that the tipping seemed really wonky.  OTOH, the entire haul cost me four bucks (I had assumed that only the calligraphy set was that price -- there had been a sign saying anything on that table not specifically priced was two dollars; I had been going, "okay, $4 for the set, and $2 for the 21 and $2 each for the pamphlets...).  But nope -- the 21 was effectively FREE (assuming that the pamphlets were supposed to go along with the calligraphy set).

The listing had said "Many pen lots" so I was hopeful, even though the photos mostly showed pencils and BPs. There were a few other fountain pens (I sort of cried when I saw the mangled nib on a Morrison) and one Staedler technical pen (like a Rapidograph but a different brand).  One pen that I had hoped to be a Sheaffer No Nonsense turned out to be a BP.

I spent more on breakfast after I got done.  Heck, I spent more late this afternoon at an antiques mall down river from me buying a Beanie Baby "Scoop the Pelican" (okay, I've paid less apiece for those, too, but this was the larger size one...).  The guy who runs the place now remembered me from the last time I'd been in (and that previous time, even though I didn't recognize him, he turned out to be the guy who'd done the appraisal on a bunch of pens for the local equivalent of Antiques Road Show; he recognized me when I talked about missing the episode where I had my 15 seconds of fame showing a reporter the Parker 41 and the 1926 Parker Duofold ringtop).

Thanks, I understand how she felt; It's quite attractive, for certain!!!
