No worries—it's all good. Happy holidays! My career was in classical music, so the "ravel" thing popped out at me immediately, though it's not necessarily a "household name."

It is for me. 😆

Well, um, yeah, I leave browsers open that have an interest to me. So another impulsive purchase. There are two Lamy pens with the NASA Worm logo on the cap of the Vista and Red Safari. I chose the Vista with a blue NASA logo on the cap. It’s at a premium price ($45), but you can’t get it just anywhere. If you visit the store at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, you can buy it at the gift shop. Or, do what I did, and buy it from the gift shop’s website spacetrader.com.

I’d have preferred the Blue Safari, but they only brought back the Red Safari with NASA in white. I have a Vista and Red Safari. The Vista seemed like the one to repeat.

Edit:

when I learned about these pens, they were out of stock. I contacted the gift shop, and they replied they would be restocking the Vista and Red Safari. I looked for very small NASA Worm stickers, but none were small enough for a pen cap. I looked at the website today, and saw them in stock.

Well, that's still less than I paid yesterday for the "Harry Potter 'Ravenclaw'" al-Star at the Lamy SoHo store (and then realized that I will have to order a converter at some point -- it came with a cartridge of what I suspect is Lamy Blue ink in the barrel and I didn't think to ask about converters since some of the online sellers were including converters with the "Harry Potter" pens).

I saw and giggled at the Ravel reference too. One of my sons is a classical pianist  and phd candidate in music. Such humor is native to this household.

Will work for pens...

Verdi you all find time for this punning? I'm too Bizet.

Ok, before I go to bed, I don't want anyone pi$$ed off...

We were in Japan for roughly the first two weeks of November (unfortunately just missing the Tokyo International Pen Show). Our trip included Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka (and a couple side trips) and I managed to visit 10 different stationery/pen shops. I had only a couple of things I was looking for, and I was mostly interested in store/area-exclusive inks; I left open room for anything that caught my eye.

I ended up with these two 'starter kits' from Sailor, pairing a special colorway Profit Jr. with a small bottle of ink. It is a terribly cute packaging idea, and the pens work rather well. The beige one is a special collaboration between artist Mizutam and the Ginza Ancora store; the ink that comes with this pen, which is adorned with illustrations on the cap, is a gold/beige ink called Kohiru - "snack time with my favorite bread". The other set, called Romance, included a really lovely ink of the same name that is a deep teal with a pronounce red sheen. Both were priced at just around $30, and very smartly packaged. One of my favorite bits was something I only saw when I unpacked them: they both have transparent feeds!

So there. We're back on "impulsive pen purchases".  🤪

I don't know whether I should consider my latest pen purchase impulsive or not.  I was in Houston at a conference and visited the Mont Blanc store where I saw some of their pens dedicated to Jane Austen.  Sadly, they were not more style (nor in a budget I wanted to spend).  But the MB sales clerk did talk to me about Dromgoole's and I visited the website before going to the store.  On their website I saw that one of the new arrivals was a Retro 51 Pride and Prejudice pen (my favorite JA novel, quite possibly my favorite novel regardless of author).  The price point was also far more palatable to me.  So once my conference was over I swung over to Dromgoole's and came home with the Retro 51 Pride & Prejudice, though I need to wait until my anniversary or Christmas or sometime that my spouse decides to give it to me.

While there, however, I ended up looking for a first fountain pen for a 10-year old that wanted a quiet pen.  The TWSBI was quite quiet, but I was not about to do a piston-filler for a first FP for a kid, and after trying out several different pens, a silver Faber-Castell Hexo M nib on Rhodia paper was the winner.

I had many Mont Blancs before I got my first Retro 51. I now have 10 times as many Retros as MBs, LOL. They are that much less expensive. Plus I have dropped several of each. With the Retros no problem as they are sturdy metal pens. With the MBs it is not so great.

I got my wife the Retro Pride & Prejudice roller ball for Christmas. Great pen, love the texture.

Seven impulsive pen acquisitions in the last couple of weeks, LOL. The Retro 51 P-47 Corsair, P-51 Mustang, Corsair, Stealth, Apollo-Soyuz, Spitfire, and Lincoln.

Also pictured are three I already had, Tesla, Escape, and Dino Fossil.
