So... a Lamy Studio Rose with an extra fine nib and a converter (in case it's not included). I still had enough for two Robert Oster inks - and went with Bronze and Australis Rose.

I keep looking at Australis Rose -- but I really do have too many inks.... :headsmack:

A Wearever Deluxe. The pics were very dark but I noticed it had a Watermans Ideal nib. I've lighten the pics to be closer to how it actually looks and was surprised at just how pretty it is. £15.25 well spent me thinks.Wearever2.jpg.542992206796257d25bf663b348cb5b9.jpgWearever.jpg.db95768609e69732fb191825e8b8131a.jpg

I've also just bought a red marbled Merlin 33 for £15.05. It was the 5p that made the difference. Looking forward to that.

Hopefully whoever swapped the Waterman nib in also got rid of the Wearever feed ...many from that time period featured plastic feeds that ranged from "somewhat acceptable" to "completely useless".

I do agree, though that they were actually nicely proportioned pens and had decent looking patterned celluloid.

David-

So many restoration projects...

When I heard Anderson Pens was going away, I thought I'd pick up a Namiki Emperor Vermillion Urushi, but they were out of stock.

By that point, though, the "NEED" for that pen had taken hold, and I picked one up from Nibs.com.  Just a gorgeous pen and the flagship of my collection.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

Enjoy! I loved my Emperor so much that I ended up convincing myself I also needed it in black too. Such regal beasts in a class of their own.

Today I decided I need a stub for writing Christmas cards. I've splashed on the Online Calligraphy set so that I can use shimmer inks without worrying about clogging up my more valuable pens. With luck it will arrive Friday . . .

@scribs, I don't think I've heard of the Online Calligraphy set.  Can you point me at them?

Thanks, greg

the Online Calligraphy set

I have that Online calligraphy set, bought some years ago, and want to say they are remarkably good at sealing. I can leave them inked for months without drying out (even Even here in a land of hot and dry!).

Will work for pens...

Not a recent impulsive acquisition, but I found a never inked and unused Kaweco pen and box hiding at the back of a bookshelf whilst fetching a box of Christmas cards today.

'Oh yeah, I remember buying you . . . what? Two years ago, was it?' passed through my mind.

(NOTE TO SELF:  Get the den tidied up and keep it that way.)

I love Kaweco pens @ParramattaPaul what color is this pen you found?

I didn't even open the box to see, and I put it away already.  I'll have a look and let you know.

Thank you @ParramattaPaul for checking. Nib size too as I’m super curious.

I put ink in a new Kaweco Collection Sage today. I’ve had the pen awhile, and this is the first time I’m filling it.

An ASA Daily 3-in-1, because I wanted to see what all the fuss about ebonite was about, and because I didn't have an Indian pen. It wasn't for me, so I sold it less than a month later without even inking it up.

The purchase was impulsive, but the delivery was not; four weeks from Portugal. Anyway, it's here now. I can't believe the condition of this Waterman with a glass cartridge. The gold plate shows no brassing, the barrel and cap are utterly free of blemishes, and the 18K nib looks to be intact. I may have good luck with the cartridge seal; it seems flexible, I see no cracks, and the cartridge pulls out with a soft "pop". Now I have some questions.

What model is this? When was it made? The nib says "FRANCE" and the barrel says only "Waterman's", so I guess it was made in France? I'll fill the cartridge with a syringe, but how was one supposed to fill it 70 years ago? Incidentally, this is the first Waterman I've owned that is old enough to use the possessive name.

Oh wow, @Arthur Pewty, that is a beautiful pen. Wouldn’t they have also used one of those giant metal reusable syringes back then? Richard Binder has some information about them, as does Nishimura’s site.
