Review..please.

Sorry, a review will not be forthcoming.

Due to some physical challenges, my writing and printing are (currently, at least) slow and far from IMO attractive.

There are a number of decent reviews of the 600 on You Tube, several of which I have watched) that do a better job than I could.

A simple search for Magna Carta (fountain pen review) 600 will provide optional viewing for all to see.

Sorry Doug (and all).

I truly wish I could.

Here are my last few and rather impulsive/unexpected pen acquisitions:

A Discus Bonn Universal, tiny pen with aluminium body, smooth nib, piston filler from around the 1950s, which came to me from what you could call extended family. Someone found it in a relative´s heirloom, remembered I loved fountain pens and simply passed it over. Thank you very much! 🥰 I had it cleaned up and got the piston unstuck and now the tiny thingy is waiting for me to get around to filling it up.large.DiscusBonnUniversal_01.jpg.8ac49bc706a49ffca19e76582b974092.jpglarge.DiscusBonnUniversal_02.jpg.abdf87cf1c4df24cd09789f78811f5a7.jpglarge.DiscusBonnUniversal_03.jpg.fd2fcb346fd5b12e490ab3d7967504b6.jpg

Next is a Nahvalur Nautilus Cephalopod Black RT (a very recent pen) I encountered on the internet. I simply fell in love with the bull´s eyes serving as ink windows. And it is a piston filler, which suits me nicely. Plus I got myself a stub nib.

Another pen I never knew I needed: Pelikan 100N Grey with rippled clip and cap band and a CN nib. Around 75 to 80 years old and still a striking beauty, if you ask me. And the CN nib writes very nicely, pretty stubby and with quite some flex. As the CN nibs I have encountered until now have always been completely hit or miss, I was afraid I would have to swap it out, but no, I got lucky and I love it.

And last but in absolutely no way least: Waterman Ideal 52 with Sterling silver overlay (factory provided, not a jeweller´s work), lever filler, broad flexy nib, about 100 years old and still in its pretty much undamaged box (just some blue ink stains on the lining). Got this one dangled in front of my nose by my pen repair guy. "Hey. Look. Nice, hm?"

Nice haul you got there!  Especially the Waterman, and the "family heirloom" pen.

Wow!  That is a very unique pen!  I love the resin section in contrast to the gold body.  Is it a heavy pen?

No, not at all. Capped it is just 10 cm long (though 14 cm when posted, which makes it a very comfortable length) and it consists mostly of aluminium, so there simply isn´t a lot of material that could possibly be heavy. When posted, it is very nicely balanced, too.

Oh what beautiful pens, Carola! The tiny Discus Bonn Universal is adorable, and the Waterman’s reminds me of my grandmother, who was gifted one as a wedding present in 1926.  You always find the best Pelikans, I quite enjoy it when you show them to us, and that Nautilus is very goth/steampunk, so cool!

A Smug Dill last week posted to Market Watch that Milligram was having a 20% off sale on their clearance items.  I went slightly nuts.  These are still available, $560 USD including shipping for the three Lamy gold nibbed pens: Dialog c/c, 2000 Stainless, Imperium.

I would have never guessed that was aluminum.  It has a particularly nice finish.  My heaviest pen is a Gravitas pocket pen with a stainless section that weighs about 40g.  Also nicely balanced when posted which seems to matter as much or more than weight.

I don´t have any scales around that would give me exact results in this weight category, but I have a lot of pens that feel much heavier. And the balance is indeed much more important. Nothing worse than a pen where the nib won´t stay down on the paper because it is so backweighted. I passed on a beautiful, unique and rather rare vintage pen and rollerball set for exactly that reason some weeks ago. Loved the looks but couldn´t find out how to hold it in a way (unposted) that wouldn´t give me the feeling it constantly wanted to topple over backwards, out of my hand.

@inkstainedruth and @Penguincollector Thank you very much for your kind comments. 😊

Yesterday, while walking around Florence, I chanced upon the Visconti Flagship store. I wasn’t too keen on entering, since Visconti is not a brand I usually consider. But my wife wanted to enter. We looked around and were extremely well treated by Natalia. I noticed a well-priced Homo Sapiens Color Collection in Sandstorm (same price of when it was launched, by now significantly cheaper than the regular HS). In any case, I was about to leave, but just out of curiosity decided to ask if the red version of the pen also came in FP (they one had the ballpoint red on display). Natalia told us that they didn’t have it, because they were terminating the stock and that she could give me 35% off on the Sandstorm FP, which made me a bit interested. But she said they only had one nib and I was losing interest, thinking she would say M. However, the last memory I have is of her saying “stub” and I reaching for the CC faster than I could think.

The pen writes marvelously and it’s inked with Visconti blue.

Hi! Can you please share the store details.. a friend is travelling... will ask her to enquire and pick up a pen for me.. thanks..

@Naveenpen Certainly!

This was at the Visconti flagship store in Florence (Address: Via Porta Rossa, 10/R, 50123 Firenze FI, Italy).

It is a small store very close to the Piazza della Signoria (in front of the Pallazo Vecchio). It is on a small street leading to these touristic attractions (the Uffizi Gallery street is also there, kind of on the opposite corner of the square). So it is in one of the main touristic places and hard to miss, if you are paying attention.

I was very well treated there, even though when I went in I had no intention of buying anything (and I think that was clear).

They are also happy to let you try the pens.

Overall it was a great experience and I highly recommend a visit.

If your friend is in Rome too, I highly recommend Novelli: they are amazing folks, very accommodating and they have a pretty impressive selection of pens. Novelli is my go to store for anything non-Montblanc (they don't carry modern MB).

If there is anything specific that you want to know, please let me know.

A lovely little Geha 760 came in the mail today in the less common pearly grey striation color. Nice 14K 585 nib, a "fine" with the clever "reserve tank" feature-- you use the cap lip to push up a small switch that then gives enough ink for a few more pages. These little pens have a soft nib that's just flexible enough for my tastes and are a joy to write with. They are small by today's standards-- 125mm capped and 150mm posted -- but fit well in my large hands and have great balance.

Thank you to @Penguincollector @Cjtamu @jchch1950 I have two of the 760's in black but never saw a grey one come up at a price that suited me before.  I have a couple of their school pens as well but their steel nibs lack the fantastic feel of the higher model pens. I know that BoBo has an especially pretty Geha 760 and I should ask him to leave it to me in his will :)
