Impulse adjacent as I went to the PNW Pen show and did intend to get a pen but I didn’t know which one going in. I ended up with a Zodiac Pen Co Pisces in Seafoam Abalone. I love the way the body pinches in toward the end and flares back out, that spot rests in the webbing of my hand and makes the pen so comfortable.

I bought a Good Blue titanium flex nib with custom feed from Thomas Ang and fitted that into the Zodiac section. The feed is made of modern materials and the fins are laser etched, it’s designed to be as absorbent as ebonite but with more environmentally friendly materials. It works really well! And the nib is so wonderfully bouncy, very easy to flex without much pressure., but doesn’t spread too far too quickly so it adds lovely character to my writing.

That pen is beautiful, and those nibs write like a dream.  I hope you love it!

Many years ago, I got a Wearever Pennant with clear feed from someone here.  Paid about $15 and I loved it, still have it.

Two years ago I saw This!  And I wanted it, both for nostalgia's sake and because because.

I just got one off fleabay for less than the Pennant.  It was in its original package!  Not much love here for Wearever, but I'm a fan.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Thank you! The ergonomics on it are maybe the best of all my pens so I’ve been reaching for it a lot. I only got one pen (two but the second was a Platinum Meteor so not a high falutin’ boutique purchase) and I wondered if I might regret not getting more but none of the other pens at the show caught my eye the way this one did.

The deed is done.  Impulse buy = a classic green Conway Stewart Belliver with a broad nib.

There’s always more pens. Sometimes at a show or a large shop I start to get choice paralysis and almost blank stuff out. I think that’s why I wasn’t thinking about it and passed on the Good Blue nib. There were plenty left, but the small blue pen was sold and I forgot that there were plenty of other folks to get a nice piece for it from. Oh well. I can always order online.

I imagine it’s even harder at the bigger pen shows where there are even more vendors.

Oh it definitely is.  My first pen show was DCSS a few years ago, back when they are at the old site hotel.  And I was already going on literally no sleep, and my friend and I got to the show and it was so big that I didn't even know where to start.

I like Wearevers,  my current one is a green celluloid lever fiiller, it was a freebie from my friend Stewart. I like those mid century metal capped versions, those are snazzy. I tend to think of brands like Wearever and Scripto as being lthe cheap and cheerful pens of their time.

They were!  I cleaned this one, not that it had ever been used, was still in unopened original package, but some of the cartridges had leaked and dried, leaving flakes of ink.   'Reanimated' one cartridge, and it writes!

A MB model 14.....nothing else and a 224, that needs the frozen gasket replaced. Had I looked at the pens in the live auction, I'd not bought them because of the frozen gasket. but unexpectedly the pens started low, and I went for the bargain.

mVoqj5H.jpg

The 14 is a well balanced pen (regular flex or springy semi-nail...in it might not want to go 3X, but is is a nice to me very narrow nib....now after ages (13 of the 15 years I've been addicted), I'm looking for narrow nibs...I don't have to go to Japanese pens, because of this nib.

It has a touch wider girth of a 400nn, and a slight tad longer. It has a narrow EF.

The other the golden capped, MB 224 matt copy of a Lamy 2000, has it looks like an F.

No way in hell am I going to fiddle around with the section of the 14, in the nib might be MB glued in, to see if it's 18K, 14K or just gold plated. None of that will effect the spring of the nib.

It is as it writes.

Filled with Edelstein because it's supposed to have a slight touch of piston lubrication.

Topaz.

I made a major mistake. I should have just filled the pen with water and wrote with a grand vibrant blue ink that I wasted in the bathroom sink.

It must have been that old discontinued MB blue ink that was so raved about, and those ravers, hated the new formulation.

I am off to get some Visconti blue....that blue ink in the pen, that took ages to clean, had been a grand ink.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Thats very cool. Looking forward to hearing more about the 14. Few days back I was surfing the interwebs and saw an older Platinum 3776 maki-e flower pattern. Not my style but my wife was taken with it so click, ship. Got on the web tonight and now there’s a mother of pearl Laban with 18K nib headed this way! Not the current version, actually a model I didn’t recognize. So, there’s the two impulse pens for this week. I need to stay off the internet LOL.

A very unusual striped Duofold. This one... I'll wait until it arrives for photos. I need to do before and after pics when I do the restore on this one.

Bayard no number c/c filler. A bit of panic, it did not take standard international, Parker or Lamy cartridges. I had read here that they would take Parker. But fortunately I found a converter that did fit. Only had one of that type, the others are Parker / Chinese.

It’s the green between the mini pens in this picture, reminds me of the low cost Parkers of the time.large.739689905.938733public.jpeg.5cbfb3c80c183e0f68ed3394b676ce46.jpeg

Aha, no, mine's different.  Green, but far less pretty, and sort of faceted.

Eagerly anticipating the arrival of my latest and greatest. Well, make that 'latest and most Smurftastic'.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything Smurfy about the pens themselves other than their colors. That said, Sailor did get creative with the finials on some of these pens and I haven't seen them on these pens yet. (Did anyone notice that the Candy finials are wonderful parodies of the Montblanc bird splat?)

Love that pastel color. Great choice.
