My brother at first said don’t buy them. Then there was an ad for Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. I had already added seven Jinhao Shark pens to the aliexpress cart. I added a corduroy green pen pouch to the order.

When I tried to place the order, there was no pay button. It finally showed up, and I ordered the pens. Might be a mistake, but that’s impulsivity. The new colors are deep transparent colors, plus a solid ivory white version.

If you find that your new Jinhao pens write pleasingly and reliably, would that mean that the solid ivory version is…

…a great white pen?
🥁😉

Eh?
EH?

Well done, Gary. I don't know that I'll ever own one, but I've always admired the classic, unique look of these pens. Congratulations.

Ha! I like that! The gray Shark version looks more like a real shark, and gets called Sharkie. Maybe the ivory white one will be great white shark. Why not?

I wouldn’t call it impulsive but a new pen nevertheless.

A Merlin cartridge filler. Did not know they made them. Could be one of their last models. It does not have a number, just Merlin. But, it writes like a Merlin.

15 euros is the average price I pay for Merlins. They were a Dutch brand, so I can find them locally. I have 4 now. The most beautiful and most rare, a 44 does not write 😞. The other 2 (a lady and a 62) write very well. The fourth one has yet to arrive. If you can get one for a reasonable price and are sure it will write (or you can service it yourself), I would take it.

The 4th one arrived. This one too, I could not reckognize from the pics. It looked like a 62, but different. Turned out it is an "unnumbered" Merlin and a cartridge filler. Did not know they made them. Never seen one before. Could be one of the last models. But: it writes, and it writes like a Merlin.

The dark wood Graf Von Faber-Castells are such classy looking pens.  Congratulations.

I just bought an Urushi fountain pen from MrCypress.
I have a birthday with a zero coming up and thought that’s a great excise to get a special pen, not that I need one but they’re usually a lot cheaper.

It took me ages to decide on a pen but I kept going back to a Kawari-nuri  they called Golden Orange. I would have preferred a cigar shape but they didn’t have any left.
It arrived today and I opened it and checked the nib and then a friend took it home to keep it safe from me until my birthday.😸

Beautiful! Went and looked at the website and may end up poorer some time soon! Congratulations!

OK, that "E&B" Zebra (although the word Zebra appears nowhere on the pen or the box) pen that I asked about a while back has finally arrived. It's a lovely pen, in mint condition, with several nifty design details that weren't apparent in the photos. But now I have a new puzzle. When I unscrew the section, instead of the little nipple I was expecting to find I see this. I'm wondering, what kind of cartridge or converter would work here? Zebra does make cartridges; might it be intended for them? Has anyone seen this design before?

I have the middle one in black and sterling.  Lovely. All Bexleys? What is the bottom one?

All Bexleys.  The bottom one is a pencil.  I have a black and sterling, as well.  There is something unique about the two pens on top.

In hopes of assuaging my slight disappointment with the M600 Vibrant Orange, I ordered an Optima Luce Biance and an M600 Glauco Cambon. The Luce was also slightly disappointing, pretty enough but not as beautiful as the Blanca LE. There's only two more Optimas I'd like to get, the Cracked Ice and the Blue with Rhodium trim, and I wish I'd gotten either of those instead.

The Glauco, on the other hand, is absolutely spectacular, everything one hopes for when buying a pen based only on pictures in reviews or ads, and more than makes for my recent disappointments. The MB Gustav Klimpt arrived a few days prior and I plan on inking it with that.

edited to correct the name on the M600 which I had as Gaudi and not Glauco.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I know absolutely nothing at all about that pen, but that feed ‘nipple’ arrangement reminds me of the equivalent in my Pilot 78G.

On the 78G that upright edge on one side of the feed ‘nipple’ is there to push on one side of the plastic disc that seals Pilot’s cartridges, so that it pivots/tilts within the cartridge, thereby ‘opening’ it and allowing the ink to flow.

If I were you I would attempt to measure the diameter of the inner edge of the outer wall of the grip-section, and also the outer edge of that feed-spike/‘nipple’.
If you can find out what those measurements are, you will be better-placed to try to find out what cartridges will fit into the pen.

Slàinte,
M.
