How is this pen unposted?

Pretty good actually. Slightly longer (both unposted) than a M400. Most of that difference is in the nib, but it's probably close to 1/4 inch. And because the cap screws onto the back to post it doesn't make the balance wonky

For me, it was two vintage Esterbrooks (a J series pen and a Dollar pen -- both with 3xxx series nibs) and a ringtop which I *think* is a Waterman Ideal (there was a fair amount of dried ink on the nib, and maybe some corrosion on the lever, and I forgot to bring my loupe to the sale, but the tentative ID on the ringtop was from another customer at the sale, who had a magnifying glass with a light on it).  Between the pens, two partial bottles of vintage inks, and a paperback book, the total was five bucks.  So I'm tentatively calculating the cost of the pens at a buck apiece, 75¢ each for the inks; since guessing the paperback was in the 50¢ range of the prices of the books.

The last impulse buy is an Astoria #2 EF eye dropper I sent away to get seals replaced. Eagerly waiting for it to be returned. Why did I buy it? For its history and the looks. Amazing!!!

My last impulse buys were the two current special edition Lamy Safari fountain pens (Violet Blackberry and Pink Cliff) along with the accompanying special edition inks. I just couldn't resist. I took the plunge even though Safari's don't always write well for me, though there is comfort in knowing that it is easy to change nibs. I'm frankly more eagerly anticipating the inks than the pens.

Rarely am I this impulsive, but... 2 days ago I saw a post by Jonathon Brooks, showing a new colorway he came up with for a LE Leonardo pen - a combination of gold, dark browns and teal called "Forged Patina". I wondered where it would show up and yesterday it popped up in an announcement from Pen Chalet in a run of 100 pens. I immediately ordered one.

Beautiful looking, Jon.  I’ve been bitten now as well.  I was just coming to this thread to confess to having bitten on another Leonardo from Endlesspens (no personal connection), the Hades, in a diamond cast brown/bronze with gold streaks and ruthenium trim.

Yes, I'm on the EP email list and saw that pen. Another handsome use of colors, though I tend to not gravitate towards the sparkle inclusions of diamondcast materials. I know you'll enjoy the pen!

Some years ago I saw a Kanilea fountain pen offered as a resale, and I believe it was called Pele’s Hair IIRC, a reference to a peculiar variety of volcanic lava glass found in Hawaii.  I didn’t buy that pen as I believe I didn’t care for the barrel shape, or it didn’t have a clip or something, but I’ve been looking for one since then, and have never seen one again.  This Hades material reminded of that material somewhat, dark browns with bronze streaks lighting it up a bit.  I’m not particularly fond of ruthenium trim, but it seems apropos for this pen somehow.  Leonardo used to have the occasional unusual materials, but of late, they seem to be producing 2-4 interesting and attractive materials per month, if one can even keep track, with different materials on offer at different vendors.

Was checking out Levenger True Writers on the Bay and scrolled past the actual items and saw an Omas Milord with a fine nib AND less than 3 minutes to ending. Watched for a (literally) minute or so, placed a bid (but did not hit the bid button until approx 5 seconds from the end and I won.

it's is supposed to arrive on Monday.

Definitely looking forward to Monday's mail 🙂

Very nice @Gloucesterman

But will you be buying a Levenger True Writer?  I can recommend them.

I already have four very nice ones that are rarely used.

AND YES, I probably will buy more. Wish they had a wider range of nibs available though.

Yes, that is kind of the way my mind worked!

Although I bought (and sold) one long ago this will be a nice addition to my pen accumulation. Don't think I should call it a collection as it's not really organized in any way lol

Haha, I have an accumulation too.  And since I started investigating inks, it's becoming overrun with X159 test pens. 😁👍

I bought a Montblanc Le Grand Solitaire Doué Sterling Silver. Saw the offer on the penexchange community and was overwhelmed. You just can't win once you are in the rabbit  hole:lol:

Oh, please lettuce alone with your rabbit hole comments.

It's nice and cozy down here!

🙂

How about a link to the purchase site, please?

This afternoon.  80s MB149, split ebonite feed, 18C (French) tri-tone EF.  Hopefully it'll have that slight architect characteristic.  Should arrive in a week or so.

Add lightness and simplicate.
