Ah, happiness. Time to buy another red pen to mark the Kansas City Chiefs going to the Super Bowl. Do I get a Kaweco Sport Classic red, or the Elite Royalty edition deep red?  The fans are nicknamed Chiefs Kingdom.  Having seen neither in person, I’m not sure which red to get.

Every Kingdom must have a Sovereign.

As such, perhaps you ought to look for a Pelikan M400, M600, or M800 in red stripes?
(I would advise the acquisition of one of the older ones, with the see-through barrels, over the purchase of one of the current-production pens with the opaque barrels.)
Or perhaps even a red tortoiseshell M600?

I know where you can get one, too.  😎

Not ENTIRELY impulsive, but I've got a Sheaffer Pop Star Wars "R2-D2" pen (plus a converter for it) coming in the mail. :D

A First Year Parker 51 with all the bells and whistles- double frame gold cap, sterling clip jewels, strong imprints on the end cap. The best part is the stub nib. I hope it is original.

Hmm, and where might that be?

I bought the Kaweco Sport red. It allowed for an ink to go in the cart. I’m not sure what the Pelikan would cost.

Rather more, I’m afraid, than a Kaweco Sport does 😬

Worse still, my experience of Pelikans - like that of many others here - is that they tend to breed in captivity.
It may not start to happen for a few years, but it could well do, and the beasts aren’t cheap!

@Mercian you are so right on those sneaky Pelikans breeding in captivity. I chose the Smoky Quartz over the Cognac. Then in time there was a Cognac. The brown tortoise wants company it seems.

La-la la-la I can’t hear you!

As my wallet keeps on insisting to me, there is not, and never was, such a thing as an M800 in Brown Tortoiseshell! 😉

mine is a M400

I recently bought an early-1980s M400 in Brown Tortoise, in the hope of sating my desire for its larger sibling from 2013 ;)

I have two Pelikan M200 - a Smoky Quartz and a Petrol Marble. They live in a pen drawer that had only two spare spaces. And that was that. Seems to have worked.

The tracking says a bright yellow Hongdian C1 is making its way through the airport... thankfully I have plenty of space for Chinese pens.

Will work for pens...

Hongdian C1

I was very impressed with the C1 in terms of the price and nib. It is a bit clunky / heavy, but like my Jinhao 911 it writes perfectly on the laser printer/photocopy paper I often have to write on.

Of course Pelikans are wonderful. Last year I bought a vintage 140, which I love.

My last impulsive fountain pen acquisition was the Nova Studio Ultem Ti, which by the way is still advertised as being 20% at their website. I wanted to try out Ultem and like Namisu's sophisticated design. Unlike a pocket pen one can use a converter and get a lot of ink for an EDC.

It feels great in the hand, and I like the Bock nib. However, I do miss a clip though, so it is often found on my Toyooka Craft Co. pen rest (as shown).

Luckily for me, M800s are too big and heavy for my hand.  Although I remember when the M805 Stresemann LE came out, and was going, "If they ever come out with that in an M400 size, I'd be knocking over banks to be able to afford one....":headsmack:

Fortunately, when they DID in fact release the M405 Stresemann a few years later, it was the one time in my life that I had a major discretionary budget -- which meant that I could afford both *it* and an M405 in Blue Black.  Of course, an hour after hitting the "buy" button, I got this phone call from PayPal, going "Did you know that a charge of X amount was sent from your account to a vendor in Europe...?"   And after assuring the person on the phone that yes, it WAS a legit charge, I looked at my husband and said, "OMG -- I really DID just spend that much money on ONLY TWO pens, didn't I?" :o
