What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

I stumbled across the Pilot Custom Enjyu on Pensachi’s site during their holiday sale.  Although I hemmed and hawed about a >$200 pen that I knew nothing about previously, this was a very impulsive purchase for me.  After reading what few things I could find about it, I hit the ApplePay button and anxiously awaited its arrival.  It showed up two days ago and I absolutely love it!  I gush more about it here.IMG_5267.thumb.jpeg.4ac9d8bda8b8fcd3b3dee0c60993524a.jpeg

Besides, I also ordered two M200 IB nibs. I need something to put them on, right?

Yes, yes you do. You passed that test.

I saw a post on the Impulsive Ink purchases about Noodler’s Grinch Garnet. I found it, and looked at closeouts. Impulsively put a GvFC Grip 2010 pink with orange dots fountain pen in the cart. I have the turquoise with lime green dots, and was pleasantly surprised by the EF nib. I thought I was done buying pens this year, with Christmas days away. But that’s what impulsive is.

Oh, I like that “angry fruit salad”.  I placed the order as a reward for dragging myself out of bed at 7:25am. That’s very, very, very early for me. Plumbing work involving electric jackhammers, and patching pipes.  Noisy work. I’m supposed to get up the same tomorrow.

I looked up angry fruit salad. That’s a new term for me.

I had to look up the term as well, and found this:

Of course you could almost describe the Pelikan P1 Twist I got as swag at the most recent Pelikan Hub (it's turquoise blue with a pink trim and clip, and the converter installed on it seems to not be fitting right so the inside of the barrel is is now filled with Edelstein Star Ruby..... :headsmack:

Is it still impulsive if one has ummed and ahhhed for several days, then hit the button after finding a readily available converter might just be easily obtained?

Yeah, I ordered yet another calligraphy set. This one a vintage Sheaffer, the one with a No Nonsense pen.

You caught the calligraphy set bug as well, I see. I impulsively bought 3 sets this year.

Yay! Swag! One of these days I'm going to remember to go to a Pelikan hub before it's done for the year.

Yeah, I always have a good time at them, even though a lot of the people at them are the usual crowd from my local pen club.  The P1 Twist was just a bonus -- I was hoping for a bottle of Edelstein Rose Quartz, given that last year our Hubmaster had to buy bottles of the past two years' "Ink of the Year" offerings and make up sample vials -- on his own dime.... :(

He also gets in contact with a couple of local places, including Birmingham Pens, and gets them to donate stuff (mostly inks) to raffle off.  I didn't win anything this year, but last year I went home with a couple of bottles of Birmingham ink -- one of Muskrat and one of Armadillo.  We've done a potluck the past couple of years, and my husband comes along and helps get the food set up (our Hubs are now held in a classroom at the University of Pittsburgh, thanks to a SCN member who's a professor there, with the food set up in the lounge next door to the classroom).

Yeah, there are a lot of good folks in Steel City Nibs.

Of course I remember the time a couple of years ago when we had an "ink swap night" at a meeting, and Ron Zorn was sort of twitching the entire night....  And probably wondering how he'd ended up in the same corner of the room with a bunch of ink geeks....  Because the joke is that he buys Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue in large bottles (like I think he MIGHT buy it by the gallon).  And when he gets "wild and crazy" he'll actually deign to use 4001 Brilliant Black....

Okay, I understand his rationale -- as a repair guy he uses 4001 Royal Blue as a test ink because he KNOWS how it's going to behave.  But I just find that ink BORING....  And that's from someone who LOVES blue inks....

Just bought an unopened gross box of Perry & Co. Durabrite no. 11 nibs.

What's the point?

Last impulsive acquisition? I am presently contemplating the next one!

(Hm... however it sounds as if "contemplating" would disqualify it from being impulsive...)

Have fun!

I just bought a blue GT Parker 45. Not quite a sumgai, but under $20. Not sure what nib is on it, potato quality pictures.

Recently purchased my first demonstrator, a TWSBI 580 ALR with the stub 1.1mm. I also purchased the TWSBI ink bottle (aluminum cap) to fill either converters or the TWSBI from the inner cap versus submerging the converter or pen into an ink bottle.

Well, if the nib is bad, at least they're pretty easy to replace, and the nib assembly comes apart.
