Well,  it would be ridiculous to NOT buy ink in Japan, with so many exclusives. We need an inpulsive ink buy thread over in that section ( I may have started one, can’t recall at the moment). There’s worse things to impulse buy.

Look what I found.

Spotted an ecorce Parker 180 FP on fleabay. Couldn't resist, it even has my favouite 180 nib - fine-broad..

Arrived today after less than ten days in transit and is in very nice condition. Sadly some clown had used an oil based ink in it. Took an hour of alternately soaking in isopropyl alcohol and in the ultrasonic cleaner to remove the ink.

Writes beautifully now.

OIL BASED INK?  YIKES!  That sounds bad (I don't think I've ever run across *that* before...).

Just bought a worn-but-working black Esterbrook J with 9128 nib, and an almost-full gross box of untarnished Esterbrook 314 Relief nibs.

I was feeling a bit 火滾 earlier today, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Pelikan Twist Fury Red fountain pen I was umming and ahing about getting.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I impulse purchased a non-fountain pen. It is a discontinued Uni Style Fit Meister 3 in red. I actually wanted brown. Red will look good with the Meister 3 Mint Green I already own. I had misplaced it, or so I thought.  It was in a RayMay Clamshell pen case with other multi pens.

I found a $50.00 Amazon gift card from 2018 a while ago. It's been sitting on my desk staring at me and mumbling something about getting old and feeling useless.

saw the Asvine P50 in red acrylic with gold colored filigree and jumped on board. I was a bit surprised though as the price on Amazon was withing a couple of dollars of each other. The fleabay shipping time was 6-8 weeks and the Amazon shipping time was 2 days. So I went with "A". Expecting it on Friday. Saw a positive review by "HisNibs" on YT so I am expecting a nice writing experience.

Not a little corner of Esterbrook I was actively chasing, but... I happened to have two of the "Petite-Pak" sets, one in aqua and one in mint green, so when I saw this pink one (not-great auction photo looks a tad orange) I thought "well, maybe I'll make it a tripartite mini-collection!" The pen sports a less-common 8450 nib.

Nice score @JonSzanto I’m glad you were willing to purchase pink pens. Do the pouches differ in color only?

Hehe... I'm secure in my persona and gender stuff. 🙃 As to the cases, there is some variety. I dropped a note to Brian Anderson (noted Estie guy, besides the pen store/business) to see how many sets and variations Esterbrook sold. Below is a quick pic of the 2 sets I already have, and then another combo from his esterbrook.net site.

Those are adorable, @JonSzanto. The cases really make the set. You already know that blue one is my favorite. Please feel free to show off the blue and green sers in their respective Pen Club threads.

@JonSzanto Thank you for sharing the images. That’s two patterns, with each pattern in two colors. Not a scientific survey yet, but it’s cool to see the variety.

Yeah, I know. Between Brian's long study of the company and the fact that they were pretty well-documented, I'm sure I can find out what the actual offerings were. I'm only doing that to see if it is feasible to gather a whole set of them. OTOH, the unusual pen that I focus on - Moore - produce virtually no catalogs and little advertising, making it really, really difficult to know the number, style, size and color of the pens they made. Every so often I'll run across one that I have Never Ever seen before, so even though I focus on one era of the company, I really don't have hopes of ever having a truly complete collection. The chase, though, is quite fun.

Hey! Just this afternoon I landed another rather impulsive purchase, a little blue Moore. I saw it about a week ago, not a really high starting bid but sometimes the auctions for them go nuts. Before I ran errands today I put in a very low snipe on it and - booom! - it won! And the seller is really prompt and I've already gotten a confirmation that it shipped and might be here by he weekend. My initial hesitation is that I have this in a larger size, but since it came at a modest cost, it will be fun to have the little brother. Auction photo:

Per @nobody's request: unknown worn/rough (though not terrible) kamakura-bori ink-stop/eyedropper pen that just arrived a couple hours ago. Has a Steady Perfect nib, which was a Ginjiro Kabutogi (aka "GK") brand, though it cannot be known whether it was made or finished by the master himself. I've never seen a kamakura-bori pen with a black cap top - perhaps it might be a replacement piece from a repair? Regardless, I think it looks good. The finish reminds me of a strawberry's skin.

That is a remarkable and valued find. Most xlnt!

As elegant as one could want. Congratulations - I have to get at least one of this series some day...

I should have the Levenger in about a week and will take some photos. True to my moniker I do like marbled blue pens and Tibaldi Imperios don't exactly grow on trees.

Here is the Levenger True Writer Classic Sapphire Mosaic in the foreground, and an older and (frankly) much more beautiful, substantial and valuable namesake, a Namiki Impressions Sapphire in back. The Levenger is still nice enough for the price and satisfies my whim for a blue/silvery/black marbled pen, at least for now. My photograph doesn't do justice to either pen.

@BlueJ those are nice blue pens. It’s good to see the True Writer Sapphire Mosaic, as I was curious about it.

@JonSzanto thank you for bringing attention to Moore vintage pens. The ones you’ve shared now and in the past are great looking pens.

@JonSzanto, I look forward to seeing your pictures, and learning about your Moore pens. I’ve seen a few here and there, always a lovely celluloid or hard rubber with beautiful nibs.
