What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Hi @carola Retro 51 nib units are screw-in and out. I’ve bought the 1.1mm nib unit twice for my Retro 51 fountain pens. The Roosevelt/Cherry Blossoms pen is a Fahrney’s exclusive.

I have the Roosevelt/Cherry Blossoms fountain pen, and it is incredible. I’m quite happy with it. Goldspot has an exclusive maple leaves fountain pen that I was tempted by when I got the Harriet Tubman pen.  I have a Hongdian pen with maple leaves on the cap. That helped me stick with the Harriet Tubman pen.

Thank you for the information.

I have also seen a Rosie the Riveter design on the Retro 51 homepage some time ago, but unfortunately it seems to be gone.

Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age w/Broad nib.

Wasn't planning on buying it, but the price (after discount) at Atlas was too good to pass up.

Hopefully, it will be one of the good ones (QC wise).

Now I just need to explain this to my SO.

@tde44x congratulations on your purchase. The HS is my favorite pen. I don’t know why I don’t use it more. I’ll use it today or tomorrow for my Log book page. That notebook is going to run out of pages soon.

I took advantage of Gravitas Pens' FPD sale to order an Ultemate Vac with titanium flex nib. Now I just have to distract myself with my other pens while I wait for its arrival.

Ah, these two kids arrived today and they didn't disappoint. 1942 Sheaffer Balance "Petite" set in "Blue". Quick capture on a sunny afternoon by a happy impulsive purchaser.

If Sheaffer made these today they would be a smash hit.

TWSBI VAC700R, first purchase in a while from Goulet and they shipped out way slower than expected (and estimated per their website) so now I'm getting it a few days late, not incredibly happy about that 😡. Rant over, hopefully it's a good pen, I really like my ECO, and am considering a 580ALR, should be easy to get replacement nib units if I want to try some others out.

I see it as hot pink in the picture, that it changes color in black light makes it extra cool!

It’s still pink to me, but more of a fluorescent salmon. Super cool!

Jon, this set is such a beauty! I love both the set and the etui, it reminds me of old makeup compacts.

Probably so! Leonardo recently had an acrylic model in blue and white that had a similar look, minus the dark parts. I'd love to know the history of the reason this was only in production for one year.

@JonSzanto wow, those are even lovelier in your photo.  Let us know how both work, please.

I hope I didn't overdo it with the sunny day photo! But in any light and knowing how this stuff can go south, it's a very clean example. BTW, I dipped the pen and it is a nice writer but it is very, very small. I may leave it without sac at the moment (to keep any more discoloration from happening).

Yeah, and I don't know precisely when those cases were in their catalog, but I think it is proper for the time. Cute, and this one is fairly clean, too.

This comes very close to impulse and it (coincidentally) arrived on Fountain Pen Day! I had picked up a lovely tortoise shell Sailor in a model that was unfamiliar. Turned out to be the Magellan, a model made for a few years in the 90s in a few finishes, including a couple of models for Levenger. Another little mini-rabbit hole to go hunting, so when I saw this model in Jade celluloid I clicked on it. I've paired it with a Sheaffer OS Balance set from the late 20s / early 30s. The Sailor is smaller than the Sheaffer, but on a taller prop.

I've never even heard of it. If you think it would please those people, I certainly could.

It was impulsive in regards to time, but the items were carefully chosen. I needed a spare feed for an ailing Moonman 80, and had been eyeing some extremely cheap piston filler demonstators for possible use at next year’s Hub. AliExpress is having their 11:11 sale so I ordered 4 x $1.64. If they are good, I may try my hand a stubbing one for shimmer inks. @Sailor Kenshin I have questions for you.
