Nice set.  If you look at it closely, you'll see that it isn't black at all, but a very dark blue.   That's why it was listed as "blue" in the catalogs, I believe.

Yep, that's it precisely. I'll take a good look when they get here, that is an auction photo. If I can do justice with my poor cam photo skilz, I'll take some pics.

Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been 15 minutes since my last impulse buy: an old-style Pelikan M200 in blue marble, with a 14ct ST (steno) nib.

That sounds nice!  But you know the mantra around here -- pix or it didn't happen! B)

I don't think I've ever heard of a steno nib....  Let alone ever SEEN one....

I always wanted a good example of the Sheaffer material that was listed in the catalog as "Blue", but most people refer to the color/pattern as "blue/black". It was only produced for about a year, and they oddly didn't make any oversize pens in this material. It is usually very discolored and dark, so when I saw this set pop up in a BIN auction, I did not hesitate.

Those look so cool. I’m always pleasantly surprised to see cool material used decades ago. Please also let us know if the pencil works. Oh, and your camera skills are not poor at all.

Very nice find. I’ve only used the 2314-M and 2314-B versions. Happy Halloween to all as well. 🎃

I happened upon a Namiki Yukari Royale Urushi Vermillion about three weeks ago. It was languishing on the bottom shelf of a stationary shop i Naha, Okinawa, waiting for a kind soul to offer it a good home. I, feeling generous, obliged.

As it happens, it is an exceptional writer. I am fortunate to have many wonderful pens, but this one is easily in the top five already.

Yes ma'am.🫡

It's the first time I've seen one (almost) in the flesh. Just twiddling my thumbs until it arrives, and then I'll make free with the camera.

What a kind and wonderful person you are. 🙂 Taking in a "rescue pen" and moving it from obscurity to celebrity.

Surely you will be rewarded for your kindness and good deed.

Seriously, there is probably a whole new population of pens "out there" waiting to be rescued.

Thanks for sharing and we are all looking forward to to some pictures and a writing sample.

I keep putting the new TWSBI Eco in indigo blue with bronze trim in my basket and then deleting it. I keep telling myself I already have too many pens and I don't need another generic (but pretty!) piston filler. So far I'm winning the debate.

I lost.

I'm telling myself it's for fountain pen day.

It’s such an attractive pen, that I hope once you get it, you’ll consider it a win.

Well, since it was an unplanned purchase, I guess it goes here. I did do a price search. I ordered a Retro 51 Harriet Tubman fountain pen. The design on the barrel matches a headscarf in a photo of the valiant Harriet Tubman. It has a 1.1mm stub nib.

@Misfit -- I think I've seen that pen advertised.  When it arrives and you get it inked up, please show us a writing sample!

No pix yet (sorry folks) but I stopped at an antiques mall in eastern Ohio on the way to OPS yesterday, and lucked into what I think is a Sheaffer Snorkel Admiral (14 K regular nib, wider cap band, no white dot) -- Burgundy, and what I think may be an F nib.  Hoping to get it repaired at the show this weekend (along with a bunch of other pens, including another Snorkel or two).  I thought $18 US was a good price, only to find that everything in the place was on sale -- 10% off -- so I ended up paying under $17.40 for it with tax....

Did I really need another Burgundy Snorkel?  No.  Did I really WANT another Burgundy Snorkel?  No.  Did I need Yet Another™ vintage pen that needs to be checked over/repaired before I can even use it?  Of course not.

Did I go "Score me!" and buy it anyway?  Heck yeah!

@inkstainedruth I will try my best to do that. I had earned a $10 gift card as part of the rewards program. I copied and pasted the code, and it showed it going through. Yet the confirmation email shows the price charged to the credit card as $10 higher. I’ve contacted them, with a screenshot of my order. Next I’ll see if I can log in online since their app never seems to let me log in.

Edited to add I finally got my password changed, and logged in. The charge showed the $10 off. I logged out. Tried to log back in, and I get the same frustrating don’t recognize your details.

Yikes!  Hope all goes well with your dispute of the added charge (depending on where the vendor is located, you may be able to contact that business's state attorney-general's consumer division -- at least for here in the US).  And that is a list that businesses with ANY brains about them really do NOT want to be on....

Thanks @inkstainedruth I’m glad it didn’t have to go that far. Still, the company, which is Goldspot, needs to send the proper amount in the email. And Chase needs to make it easier to log in. I bet having the app too is part of the issue.

I should add, at least on the Harriet Tubman version of a Retro 51, they had a better price than others. With my earned rewards credit, I paid $30 less than most of the prices I saw while looking.

Xlnt, will look forward to seeing it. I only have one Retro 51, the Fredric Douglass. I tend to not go towards metal pens, but I really liked the textured bronze body and general styling. I was surprised by how well the pen wrote, and while it isn't in constant rotation, I've kept it in the collection.

Well done, a good score! Have a wonderful time at the OPS, and spend foolishly!

I am currently thinking about pretty much the same pen with the same nib, just in the Frederick Douglass design. I also like the design of the Roosevelt pen but can´t find the fountain pen, just the rollerball.

Does anyone know whether the nib unit of these fountain pens is removable?
