@JonSzanto congratulations on getting the Madrid pen. I got to see one of the City pens in person back when pen club met in person, and I could go. They are so attractive. I bet that red and black is very dramatic.

@JonSzanto -- I don't think I'd seen that one before (I keep lusting over the M620 Piccadilly Circus).  The Madrid pen is nice (although the barrel material reminds me somewhat of my Noodler's Konrad "Forbidden Cities").

Thanks, @Misfit - it had stayed in my mind for many years, waiting for the right pen at the right time. I don't know if that is impulse, but I didn't hesitate! The dark areas are almost a blue/black, not super dark (see below).

What I had somewhat forgotten was how translucent the material is - both the red and dark blue/black areas have a high degree of transparency. This is unlike the M320 "Ruby Red", which is more uniform in red color and far less translucent, though still a lovely material (photo from the excellent "Pelikan's Perch" site):

Just curious, is the M320 the same size as the M300? I recently acquired a green striped M300 (NOS) and will probably be selling it on the bay or FPGs soon. The pen is too small for me to use comfortably.

The above pen looks quite nice.

Yes, it is a small pen. I've never owned a 300, but the 320, capped, is 4-5/8" (11cm) in length. And commensurably thin.

I just received a NOS Pelikan M620 Madrid ("Cities of the World" series) from a long-time friend and dealer. I've wanted one of these for a good 10 years, and while they pop up from time to time, the likelihood of an unused, complete boxed set was not something I thought would happen. I didn't hesitate, and it is really lovely. Photo for reference, I will take pics in a day or two.

Looks really good @gweimer1 but I’m not familiar with the pen, but if I had to guess, I’d guess Sheaffer.

That's nifty. How does he do the barrel imprint, laser?

No impulsive buys lately, but heading to the Dallas Pen Show this Thursday and am quite sure there will be impulse buying going on there.  Love the Dallas show!

Thanks for the repairs today! I accidentally bought a lovely little Parker vacumatic, oops.

I think the only vintage pens I accurately identify are Esterbrook pens.

Not a whole pen but I did just receive my impulsive first order from FPNibs.  I was getting frustrated with a medium nib in my Gravitas pocket pen.  It was a Franklin Christoph nib but it kept skipping and hard starting so I replaced it with one of FPNibs broad nibs in a lovely ruthenium finish.  The nib has started out great.  Time will tell if the problem was the FC nib or the pen not sealing well.  I hope it was a faulty nib because I really love that pen.  It’s even more fun now with my first broad nib!

It's been a little while (for me), my most recent impulse purchases were at the SF pen show, about 5 weeks ago. But today I broke my fast on a pen that I'm now not really sure I will like. It's another Parker Duofold Centennial, in Burgundy Chevron, and it apparently has "Prestige" as part of either the model name or the finish name. Anyway, I had put it on my watch list only because the price was already the lowest I had seen in quite a while, and then the seller offered me an 18.5% discount, so I went for it. I've never seen one in person, and I assumed it was a resin pen, but after I bought it I read a little deeper in the listing to where he said it was "hefty." So now I'm wondering if it's lacquered metal, a category of pen for which I have no great fondness usually, although there are exceptions.

If I had a little more ambition, I could cross-post this pen in "What pen are you waiting for in the mail" and "What Parkers have joined your collection lately."

Well, at the flea market I went to this morning I acquired two Esterbrooks (LJ, I think) with a 2668 and a 9555 nib, A blue Parker 21, a Fisher Space Pen (looks like NOS) and a sealed five-pack of Parker cartridges (black).

One Esterbrook will definitely need a new sac and all of them, except the Fisher, will receive a cleaning.

A reasonable result of a $20.00 investment, would you agree?

BTW, does the ink have a specific name in addition to "orange"?

I believe that the two cartridges that came with it are the limited edition copper orange that was released with the pen in 2015.  I can’t tell for sure as the cartridges arrived unlabeled in the pen box not a labeled ink package.
