And yes, a wyvern is a dragon.  It and the leek are symbols of Wales.

Not the Welsh dragon. The wyvern sits atop the City of Leiceter's crest and is where Wyvern pens had their factory.

Tis true.  And Welsh too.

Quoted from Wikipedia: The wyvern is a popular commercial logo or mascot, especially in Wales and what was once the West Country Kingdom of Wessex, but also in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, as the rivers Wye and Severn run through Hereford and Worcester respectively.

Admittedly, I did get a bunch of Preppy's and a Jinhao 86 on an Amazon order about two months ago to get the faster delivery. Didn't workout because where I live even a "get it by tomorrow" still ends up being a 2 day delivery.

I've been rounding out my orders lately with ink that "I'd like to try that someday, but the price looks really good today."

Oh dear! I seem to have two too many legs on my Welsh dragon flag.

😁🤣  Not to worry.  It said 'logo' and 'mascot'.

One of my SCA badges is a red dragon holding a "fountain" -- a circle with alternating blue and white wavy stripes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_(heraldry).  I had to change the direction it was going, though -- it conflicted with too much real world heraldry, of Welsh dragons holding things (including the emblem for the Welsh National Railroad, which is holding a locomotive engine, apparently!)

I changed the position of its head to face the "correct" way, because it KNEW it wanted to be going "to dexter"....  And yes, it's a dragon, NOT a wyvern....

Of course my armory has couchant unicorns (lying down but with the heads up).  A number of years ago I was working at Heralds Point at Pennsic doing drawing, and some guy came up to the table where the artists were working, somewhat diffidently, and going "The submitter wants a... a... couchant unicorn...."  And I said, "Oh that's easy!  Hand it over, and I'll do it as soon as I finishing inking up the submission drawing I'm working on...."  The guy looked at me as if I had been speaking in ancient Sanskrit and I just stared at him and said "I have couchant unicorns on MY heraldry.  I've been drawing couchant unicorns for something like a DECADE!  Hand the d@mned paperwork over!"

A Speedball Auto Feed set and a three-pen Sheaffer No Nonsense calligraphy set (sold as a single lot on ebay). I'm hoping the Speedball still works, but if not then I can always use a few more No Nonsenses.

Also a wheat-and-lavender heat pad to use as a wrist support when typing. Time to accept that I'm getting old.

I love the Speedballs.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I like the nibs, but have never had the chance to try an Auto Feed. I do hope this one works because I'm not sure I can get at its innards without breaking something.

As I recall it is easy to resac.

I have one in need of a new sac but I cannot get it open. I don't know if these suffer parts shrinkage over the years, but I'm worried that I'll melt or crush the plastic before I can get the blasted section to shift.

Back to impulse buys, I just ordered a NOS Pelikan Epoch P361 with medium nib from a shop in Germany. Cartridge-fillers other than lower-priced working pens aren't really my thing, but I've been wanting to try an Epoch for a while now and this looked like a good'un.

Impulse purchase last night - vintage Koh-i-noor Rapidograph for my husband. I suppose I could have held onto it for Christmas, but gave it to him as a random surprise gift instead. Pretty sure he only went into his office today (instead of working entirely from home) so he could test it out at his drafting table with his tools.

my last impulse buying would be a collection of 30 Lamy Safaris in various colors. Never thought i would fall into the rabbit hole of the Safaris. But i did. now i have many of the same colors and same safaris except in different boxes and sets. Not sure if i should further this Safaris collection or not

Meet "Arnie". This pen is from a local maker (who moved here last year), Zach of Skogsy Pens. I saw him post it on his IG feed and I said "It looks just like a well-poured Arnold Palmer!" When I went to the SF Pen Show 3 weeks ago I made a beeline to his table and picked it up. I should mention that this pen sports a lovely matte finish; I have 3-4 pens with matte finishes, and when done right, it enhances not just the look but a imparts a velvety-smooth feel in your hand. The blank was created by Enigma Pens.

He asked if I wanted the Broad nib that was in the pen or move to something else, and I thought "No, I haven't had a B ground in a while". Later that morning I sat in front of Matthew Chen (@pactagon) and we decided to do a soft architect (not super sharp on the vertical) and it turned out nice (no surprise there). So here's the pen with the signature drink, nib shot, and writing sample (using the SF show ink), and Matt working on the pen at the show (to Matt's right is the great Mike Masuyama, who later did a different pen for me).

That’s so cool @JonSzanto How wonderful to find that pen, get the nib ground, and have it all done at a pen show. It’s like the fountain pen user dream.

Sometimes the stars align and everything comes together! Thank you, I'm very pleased, not just with the pen, but with the artisans who made it happen, as well.

At the Pop Up pen show in Central Massachusetts yesterday, I jumped on a Pilot Murex and a Black VP. The Murex is the one with the slight step-down to the integrated nib, not the one with the smooth transition integrated nib. I had the other one(smooth), in fact, it was a grail pen for a long time and found that the smoothness was a little to slick for a comfortable grip for me. This one, with its circular grooves in the section area seems better. For now at least.

What size tip does it have?
I still have (although haven't used in decades) the four tip-set that I asked for as a graduation present from high school, and the three other ones I bought in college.  Of course, I didn't know that they were "ruling pens" -- the only person I knew in high school who had one used hers for drawing, and that's what I did with mine.  Although I've had some jobs where I wished I could find a non-repro blue ink to use in them, especially with the finer tips, for doing layout and paste-up work (always hated the non-repro blue BPs because they were blobby, and the non-repro blue pencils had to be constantly re-sharpened to get a fine enough line....

Honestly, I should know better by now than to browse ebay on my lunch break. I just grabbed an Esterbrook SJ Conundrum with what looks like a medium/broad nib.

So much for taking a break from buying.
