What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Just bought 17 "new" pens at a flea market - most have the original converter (all of them) working so far. They include the following:

ACME Salvador Dali FP & Rollerball - NOS

  1. Sheaffer Targa - Black w/ 14k nib
  2. Leverger True Writer - looks like a confetti cap/barrel NOS
  3. Cross Metropolitan - Gold & Black (M)
  4. Reform - slender flighter w/ converter NOS
  5. Rotring - Calligraphy pen (so it says) M nib
  6. Sheaffer Craftsman (?) lever filler
  7. Parkers - yet to be identified and including 2 Place Vendome FP/RB NOS sets that, it appears,  were given away with more expensive   Parker purchases

Now i have to clean and sort them for the "Pop-Up" pen show in Central Massachusetts on the 16th of September.

When I was on my way to my car, I saw one from a different dealer which I really liked the look of (a unique pattern on the barrel/cap) lever filler. Looked like a 14k but no name and she wanted $50.00 for it. I should have taken a picture of it:-((

Oh yes, I and I did buy two new men's hats. Wish I had seen the second one first, I could have saved myself $5.00 LOL

Was just going through them and started to clean them. Some of them are NOS I suspect and the others appear to need a thorough flushing.

Sometimes, when I get "FP-lucky" I feel like I am just a channel for fountain pen distribution - LOL. And enjoying it, of course.

During the past month, I have purchased more than 50 pens impulsively, I guess. I am really looking forward to the local pen show and  FPN's new classified section.

@Arsouille I love the way you described the feel of your purchases.

Sounds to me like a rare feeling and one to get the endorphins flowing.

Savor it...

I had been chewing on the Namiki decision for probably 9 months now, so that felt right. I had played with the ST Dupont Carbon a few times and thought it was stunning, but hadn't really considering moving ahead with it until I was offered a great price. The sum of both is giving me slight vertigo, I have to say.

Not a pen, but rather a pencil.  I have a lovely Lady Patricia in excellent condition in Turquois (dark blue with gold celluloid).   For years I have been on the lookout for the matching pencil.  I closed the deal on the pencil today.  Now I have a matched set.

Two Sailors, a new production Pro Gear Realo with an M nib, and a used (I hesitate to say vintage because it doesn’t look older, but it does have the previous style nib) 1911 with a FM nib.

@Addertooth That is BEAUTIFUL!  I can understand your desire to get the matching pencil.

I will be picking up these two after work today. The local online auction site ad was basically for "Schlicht ink pen / Two ink pens". Yes, not fountain pens but ink pens. :P

The pictures were kind of crappy but I thought I'd roll the dice because "the price was right". Namely, after me spying with my little eye... a Pelikan 500NN :D I hope the cap is without dings, also, no idea of the nib or what condition the whole thing is in.

The other pen is indeed a Schlicht but a model I've not seen before (there were no pictures of the nibs). The ones I've seen have had nice semi-flex German nibs appropriate for the era (their filling mechanisms are not a thing I would endeavor to fix, though). So, let's see. :)

For me, a Jinhao 9019.  And after trying it, two more Jinhao 9019s!  ;)

Hampshire is filling up with Jinhao 9019's then! I recently got my first one, I went for the transparent one. I like it but to be honest, I am not to sure if I prefer the X159 rather, and I got 4 of those, or is it 5???

Got myself a MB Blue Hour rollerball today. My first rollerball. Feels almost blasphemous, but I have a lot of airplane travel coming up, so I thought it would be practical to have one. Also, my day today is absolutely awful, so a new pen cheered me up some :)

Seems that way.  My first was also the 'white' transparent one with a medium nib.  An astonishingly smooth writing experience from a pen that cost me £8.66 including shipping!  I haven't picked up another pen since I got it about 10 days ago...  ;) I've not tried the X159 though.  I did have 4-5 159s.

I bought a medium-nib 9019 recently, and liked it so much that I added a fine and extra-fine to round out the set of opaque models. I'm in Kent, though, so I'm not making Hampshire's load worse.

Latest impulse buys were a Norex 572, just because it looked interesting and I'd never heard of the make before; and a large Sheaffer's Balance lever filler with a broad stub Lifetime nib.

I  went to the SF Pen Show last Friday afternoon. I learned that I now enjoy meeting with pen people even more than acquiring pens/inks/paper. It probably has to do with having a lot more wonderful pens than I can reasonably use and too little social interaction in my life.

I also proved again that I have a serious weakness for Brooks' PM 1. I impulsively bought a cute little clipless pen in PM1 from Jonathon hisself. JoWo Steel 1.1mm stub nib. It writes nicely.

It wasn't an impulse. It was on my "To Do" list for the show. I also bought a Toyooka Craft single pen desk stand. I do love their products.

I won a Sheaffer 550 or Compact II in black. I will know more once it gets here, the pictures were a bit grainy. In any case, it’s a black cartridge pen with a short arrow inlaid 14k nib.

Another little orphan, a little worse for wear but at approximately 103 years of age I am astonished at it's abilities! Hallmarks signify, 'London' (overlay) Silversmith, 1921. 14K Swan #1 nib.

It may never win a beauty competition but it was love at first sight for me!

Apart from the Swan nib all lettering impressions have been worn away so I have no idea what it is.

It seemed the most natural thing in the world to fill it first with the delicate, "Edelstein Moonstone" and I have not been tempted to change it.

The nib is remarkable. Smooth, gently flexible and very 'expressive'. Everything I have come to love about vintage, M.T. Swan nibs!

A slice of heaven🥰

I'm so sorry this is out of sequence but I wanted to comment on the Morton Pen.  I was trying to visualize what it looked like.  I was able to find some pics of big Morton Gold Nibs on pen holders but nothing on a pen.  I couldn't figure out how the mother of pearl fit in...  Well there is is. Very nice.  A mighty find. 😀👍  How does it write?

Thanks, I have a Compact II that I enjoy, so I am keen to compare the two. There’s something rather penguiny about Sheaffer’s inlaid nibs that makes me smile.
