I believe that the title of this thread should be edited. Fifth word should have leading "I" removed and "Co" put on instead.

Today, in two separate, unplanned orders: a Sailor Lecoule Pale Brown and a Narwhal Schuykill Chromis Teal with a fine nib.

Both were a surprise. I was musing much earlier (in my journal) that I seemed to have lost interest in adding to my pen collection. Yes, there was the Pilot Kakuno Papa Blue a few weeks ago, long half-planned and then ordered with enthusiasm when I remembered the Con-70 in my parts drawer. Other than that there have been no pens for months, instead a journey into mechanical pencils - ones that matched pens I already have. And that wound up. And I was lost. Nothing I wanted, I thought. "Oh really?" said the universe. Within hours I had ordered two pens.

Will work for pens...

A Parker 65 from the Bay suddenly yesterday afternoon.

I had never even heard or looked at a "65" before then...

Oh well, I guess I will know more in a few days.

Guilty. Just got a Peyton Street Pen Prototype because I really want a broad Architect nib to try.

I was having a pity party for myself, and decided I was going to order a Kaweco Sport in a special edition color. After a search, I found a Pen Addict review of an Ocean Blue version, with a link to City Luxe. After looking at it, checking conversion rates, I finally clicked on complete purchase.

I don’t have a Kaweco in blue*, so soon I will. Unfortunately that website was charging more for clips than US websites, so I didn’t get a clip.

I do have an *AL version in what is supposed to be stonewashed blue. Mine is not the blue I was seeing when I got mine on Amazon. Mine is lighter blue, and not as “distressed”.

I had to go look it up... what a pretty colour! I can see why it caught your eye. Do you have an ink in mind for it? 💙

I might use the cartridge it comes with first. The way blue doesn’t photograph well, I’ll need to see the pen first. Do you have any suggestions?

I had to pay $15 Singapore in shipping, so the pen is costing around $45 USD.

Earlier this year, I bought the Frosted natural coconut version with a 1.1mm nib. With a black clip on it, I loved it. Sunday night I got to thinking about my pens. I wished I’d bought more Kaweco Sport pens, and their special editions instead of Lamy Safari and Al-Star pens and their special editions. I could have had Art Sport pens if I had.

Anyway, I found a Kaweco Madness website that shows quite a few of their special edition colors by country or region. It’s worth a look.

If only I could be stopped. Now I’ve bought a Kaweco Sport x Galen Leather sapphire blue transparent pen with 1.1mm nib plus the matching ink by KWZ. It is my birthstone. That’s my excuse.

Update information:

The pen arrived on Wednesday.

And I am very impressed. Excellent condition and I really like the design. It will be inked later today and, hopefully, prove to be a wonderful writing instrument. A subsequent search of the Bay for other "65s" resulted in the awareness of how few of these are available (in the U.S.) and that they are considerably more expensive than the one I purchased.

I thought this pen had a broad enough nib for shimmer.  I inked it as shown.  It clogged.

Vac fillers are cool, so I bought one, but not so fun to flush!  Other than that, I really like the Narwhal Plus; it fits nicely in the hand and is well-balanced.

Latest is a Parker VP - I was interested in seeing how it writes compared to a 65, and how well or otherwise the filling system worked. Good pen, convenient filler although it looks worryingly fragile, decent nib although stiffer than my 65s. I like it.

I was at the PDX Pen Club meeting today and another member brought pens to sell. I came home with this working, yet humble Waterman 52. The rubber is a bit oxidized, but the nib is awesome and it has a new sac and you can still read the text on the barrel. I wonder what year it was made.

My latest impulsive pen acquisition cancellation: I've been watching the price of the Diplomat Excellence A2 in Oxyd Iron finish for a while now, after getting one in Oxyd Brass from LCdC (quite some time before it went bankrupt) and really enjoying the feel of the pen body's finish in my hand. Actually, I may have ordered a Oxyd Iron several months ago, when the stock status was something like, “Typically ships in 4 to 6 weeks” or along those lines, and then cancelled the order before it shipped.

Anyway, the price dropped 5% overnight, so I pulled the trigger (again?) on it, in spite of it only coming with an F nib (with no other option at that price, and EF not being listed at all on Amazon)… only to cancel in less than three hours, during which I had occasion to pull out my Oxyd Bass one, and saw to my alarm that I'd put a long thin squiggly scratch on the pen barrel at some point. I can't polish it out of the brushed Oxyd finish, and hence I came to the conclusion that it's too hard to maintain in good condition with use over a number of years.

I impulsively ordered a bargain priced Platinum #3776 Black Diamond EF yesterday with delivery on June 27. Today my order history shows the delivery date changed to August 1.

At least Amazon won't charge your credit card until your order is shipped (if and when it happens).

I placed an order with Amazon.com.au for a bottle of Sheaffer Skrip Red ink (with Amazon AU being the seller), and have been getting repeated “delivery estimate update” notifications since November to the effect of, “We're encountering a delay in shipping your order.”

That said, Amazon Japan has not failed me once to ultimately deliver, even if some orders were held back by two or three months (and then suddenly I get a charge on my credit card for hundreds of dollars, long after I'd forgotten about the outstanding order).

Alas, my “spare” Black Diamond doesn't have the nib you're after. And, odd now that I think about it, but I have to admit I still haven't inked up either of the Platinum #3776 Century pens with EF nibs that I bought, including one (a Laurel Green with gold trim) from last year. Surely those must count as impulsive, non-essential/whimsical fountain pen buys, then?

(Glad to see you've updated your ink spreadsheet, by the way. I was going to pack the ink bottles and samples to send to you last week, but the water leak hit the fan and all that. I should have time to attend to the task this week, though.)

Edit:

And, just now (on 15 June 2023), Amazon AU cancelled my order (placed on 12 October 2022) of a bottle of Sheaffer Skrip Red ink “due to a lack of availability”.

My nib desire is flexible, the rhodium was the thing that grabbed me. I already have white, laurel green, Bourgogne and the basic black with gold trim. Hmmm... So if I widen my lookout to include a fine, I could, at any time before my cc is actally charged,  order one and cancel the EF? (Thinking a fine might be more common than EF.) That's a good thought. Thankyou.

Ink lists... Yeah, I discovered my swatch book did not include a number of bottles in the Google list.  A careful check was done to fix it. All good now. A lovely task for a rainy morning.

My wife found it for me on German Ebay...and it is a bit lighter looking than my 500 and transitional '54 400...those are considerably lighter than my '91-97 400 tortoise.

I'd been wanting a 400nn in tortoise, having one in green stripes.

There was another the 'normal' darker shade for a bit less, but this one 'sparkles'.

Due in on Thursday. uffnBIW.jpg

They find me, I swear! Actually, it was @fireant who let me know it was on the sale table. I went to take a look, and it was exactly the amount of cash I had on me. I wasn’t even meant to have that cash on me, but I had gone shopping the day before with cash and there was a 40% off sale.  Here’s a few writing samples, the first in my Cartotecnica Monzese journal (blurred out a name), the other on 35 NFC paper.
