I was reading your written notes, 1st post, 2nd post, 3rd post, and thinking, dang, this guy talks about how he got those pens with a back story, written with the pen that he purchased, and he didn't even post the pictures of the pens??

Luckily, the 4th post are the pens..!   But where's the Laban?

I was interrupted at the office and didn't finish taking pictures.  This professional photo doesn't do the pen justice. The color is super pretty.  I will have to use a different ink because the Vinta dries out too fast and this little beauty probably needs an Iroshizuku ink that will stay wet longer in the pen.

You switch nibs all the time!  I'm sure it wasn't you.

And those are a bunch of beautiful colors to add to your rainbow of a collection! :) I'll forgive your prejudice against the finer nibs.

I should have been more patient. I think the last ink acted like glue and even though it looked clean, I was mistaken.

Jon, we need to talk!!!  An ink tank is part of my fantasy pen.

I'm certain any competent pen maker can do this, I'm just a garage/kludge guy. I had purchased an out-of-production Bexley that was in a partially transparent resin called "Smoke". It is a big, girthy pen with a wide body and the interior of the barrel was larger than the cartridge. Lots of threads that would have let ink in and spoiled the look if I eyedroppered it, so I went to a plastics place and found an acrylic clear tube that would just fit inside the barrel. A standard converter was narrower, so I cut the connector off and glued them together with acrylic cement. I then found a rubber plug that would seal the back end. You could easily glue it closed, but this has a secondary purpose of slipping right down into the 'blind cap' and by leaving it just a touch long, it helps press the tank forward and keep a good connection to the section nipple. Here is a photo of the pen with the tank full of Iro Ina-Ho, and then a shot of just the tank itself. It is nice, because in the pen you don't see either end and it looks almost like just ink in the barrel.

It's not a perfect picture, but my home TV tray is not the perfect setup.  Anyway, you can see the blurple (and almost taste the rainbow).  :)

And my stab back at envy was with a Visconti Manhattan LE in shades of green (how appropriate). It took a couple of days to finalize the deal from halfway across the world, but I am promised it will be shipped tomorrow (or "today" in that time zone, as I write) by express carrier, so not too many more days to receive it. Photo TK (that's advertising jargon for "to come").

I'm going to post the sales photo after all, which I realize I could have done at the time, because my own attempts at photos aren't as good. By the way, not an LE, I was getting confused with the Wall Street series, from which this differs in several ways.

Don't you?  Are you a colorblind person mimicking a color-sensing person via font?  I'm reading a book about different critters umwelts, and color is an interesting thing....

Yes, I do dream in color. I was simply referring, somewhat in jest,  to Amber's celebration of color.

Last week I gave a person (new to FPs) whom I know, an x159 Jinhao. It already had ink in the converter. When I inquired what color ink he was interested in, his response was "black or dark blue. . I gave him a 30ml bottle of blue-black. It may take a while and I will definitely introduce him to the crazy array of colors we now have available to us.

And, from a philosophical point of view, there is absolutely no way to determine whether or not the qualia that one’s brain generates for ‘red’ is the same qualia that anybody else’s brain generates for ‘red’.
The same goes for blue, green, pink, violet, etc. Perhaps all people actually have the same ‘favourite’ colour-qualia, but different people have different ‘favourite colours’ because our brains have assigned the different qualias to different wavelengths of light? 🤔

Ok, so the commonly-seen laziness preference for simplicity and re-use of the same mechanism that inheres in the evolutionary process does rather suggest that we do all perceive the same qualia for each colour, but that assumption begs another question:
what are the qualias that get assigned to the colours that we humans cannot see, but which insects, birds, cephalopods and especially Mantis Shrimp can see?’

Answering that in a satisfactory manner is as ‘easy’ as attempting to explain colours to people who were born blind; or sounds, tones, harmony & melody to people who were born deaf.

Ultimately, each of us perceives the world only as an image/‘working-model’ that our own brain has constructed in its effort to try to make sense of the constant barrage of neurological input that is generated by our own sensory organs in response to whatever ‘Reality®️‘ actually is.

I bought an Esterbrook Relief 3-L after placing a last-minute, spur-of-the-moment bid. It has a crack and crush mark on the cap and a little corrosion on the cap band, but is otherwise very pretty and a real joy with which to write.

Congratulations! Not a common pen, it would be nice to see a photo.

My last impulsive pen purchase was an 'as new' MB Burgundy 147 (hopefully pics to follow). Now I just have to wait for it to arrive before I see it 'in the flesh' for the first time - scary!

I've thought about this for years, and the book touches on that as well.

Okay, so it's even weirder than that- certain critters have eyes that can only perceive color in parts of their eyes.  So we can't really conceive(or at least I can't) how a creature that views some things in black and white and others in colors of some sort interprets its surroundings.

There are critters that do not possess the auditory range to hear the sounds they make!

But I digress...
