At the moment, I'm wishing that they did.  I just paid for a new flytying vice that fortunately was on sale.

There's impulsive ... then there's Impulsive.

The vast majority of my pen purchases could be considered impulsive: rather than go out looking for a particular pen, I look at what second hand pens pop up on the local market and, if I like it (or think I might like it) and the price seems good, I buy it. Impulsive in an opportunistic way, if you will - sort of like antique shopping.

But then there are the 'What the hell?!' ones like this one that are capital "I" Impulsive.

"La infinita":  I can't find anything online about it online other than an Etsy listing that claims it is Japanese (I doubt it) and an old eBay listing for one that someone put a gold Waterman nib into (of course!?). I paid the equivalent of about $6 USD. Perhaps it will never get used but it will deservedly sit prominently on my desktop for at least a little while, for the oddity that it is. I await its delivery with bated breath, as they say.

A Monty Winnfield with a stacked nib purchased used (but like new).  Monty Winnfield's website is back up and new pens are available!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

*Cough*. In fact, Conway Stewart does have occasional sales.  There was a very brief one at the end of November, which is how a Churchill Shingle came to be under the tree for me to unwrap on Christmas Day.

I was hoping it would be good and it's exceeded expectations, although I've no plans at the moment to get another.  However, if they released a Churchill in Heather I'd probably break the keyboard in my haste to press "Buy" 😊

Nothing special: just white paper on background, tripod, DSLR-camera and some Photoshop. No special light and other professional stuff.

Thanks! :)

It was weirdly colorful variant of Parker Vector, NOS condition (I paid around 5 EUR with express shipping included). I'm waiting for package to arrive :)

Pix when you get it, ksx4system!  I'm a sucker for Parker Vectors, partly because they're inexpensive little workhorses and partly because they come in so many different colors and designs (my most recent one was a reboot Looney Toons "Tasmanian Devil" pen which I think is better looking than the original 1999 version).

Sadly, I've lost a few over the years, including one of the "Geometric" design ones.

Posted the write up in the UK thread, but technically this was a bit impulsive...

You do what I do, write an "e" as a backwards 3 as well as the standard lower case. Also you don't always make your "n" the same. I remember a grammar schoolteacher negatively pointing this out to my mother. It is not a big deal, but I am pleased I am not alone in the practice.

That's funny.  I had a wonderful fourth and fifth-grade teacher, who gave me all the highest marks (ones) except for the penmanship mark, where I consistently received the mark that was one step up from failing.

Honesty, I don't know when I started writing my "e"s this way, but I write a lot more(and probably, with more skill) than many people with perfect penmanship.  I always thought handwriting shows off a bit of personality, even if what it shows is that people didn't spend much time practicing handwriting!

I cross my sevens to distinguish them from my ones - otherwise they look too similar. It's fun with a fountain pen, too!

So you make your sevens look like European style ones?

I make my dates look European, too, but that's because going out of order as we do in the American system drives me nuts; logically I like to work from smallest unit to largest....

I didn't want to sound pretentious! Often do, anyway, I suppose.

Two Parker Arrows from ebay today to start the New Year off, a used matte black F (finally) and a NOS Flighter M

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I missed that. Drat!

However ... (pregnant pause) ... I just noticed something else to lust for.  This: Conway Stewart Collectors Bracken Pen | Conway Stewart

ADDED:  I also noticed that there has been a price increase since mid-December.  One can only guess that it is due to global inflation.

Just now, an Osmia 664 with EF nib. Kind of a crapshoot, internal condition is unknown. But if I have to repair the piston, I think maybe I can do it myself. He said hubristically.

Perhaps those of us with less-than-ideal handwriting take defensive measures.  Maybe I started writing my "e"s as backwards threes so no one would mark my work as incorrectly spelled with an "I".  I don't recall this, but it would be quite plausible.

⬆️ This! 😁

My handwriting has never been the sort that anyone would wish to display as an example of ‘best practice’, so I am another person who crosses their ‘7’. I also cross my ‘z’ & ‘Z’ (to distinguish those from my ‘2’).
