Beautiful looking pen.

Are you going to keep it?

Or get something more to your liking?

I will keep it, I have small Aurora’s pens collection and this pen is good addition to it.

Majohn P136

I read about the Majohn P136 so I ordered one to compare it to the Jinhao X159.  It's the same length as the X159, capped or uncapped, but it feels like a small pen, being slightly thinner than either of my Kaigelu 356s.  It’s weird.  The nib needed a lot of work and once I got it straightened out I decided the pen didn't feel right. It needed to be posted like the little Kaigelus.  So of course, the pen won’t post.  The cap falls right off the back of the pen.  I don’t know what the problem is but a piece of pinstripe whiteboard tape 3cm from the end fixed it.

The piston didn't inspire enthusiasm either and where the X159 was an immediate winner, the P136 does not seem to be.

Here it is next to 2 Kaigelu 356s, which also feel better (to me) posted

A Sheaffer Holidays Originals 1996; listed as "new" though no box shown but had 5 to sell. On ebay, 4 left if anyone's interested.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

You might want to add a link here so that anyone interested can go right to your items.

You may also offer a discount if someone here buys direct and saves you the Bay fee.

Just my opinion...

happy Holiday.

It's no longer my latest impulsive buy, but it's the latest I have reported in this forum - Now home, and it's a real beauty.

Nice, David. That particular material isn't in my wheelhouse (I went for the more staid rosewood ebonite) but it really has a flair to it - I especially love the end pieces! Both the color scheme and general patterning of it reminds me of the Indian Pen Co. from the 30s-40s (I believe). There were some that may have been even closer (and they aren't hard rubber like yours) but this was what I could find quickly, from Munson's "Fountain Pen Restoration" site:

@USG, thanks for the review. I'm crossing off my list the P136.

Merry Christmas and best wishes to all. 🎁

I don’t know if it was totally impulsive, a bit I guess. I wanted a urushi pen. I was pointed to a few places and decided on this. It’s from Tamenuri Studio. Phenomenal service from Michal and a beautiful pen.

Really beautiful pattern.  I’ve wanted one of his pens for sometime, but whenever I see one like it’s been sold already.  Enjoy your beautiful pen.

Ooh!  That's some of the prettiest ebonite I've ever seen!  Nice addition to your stash!

Yes, you are correct, anyone can do a search for Sheaffer Holidays ...

And it is so much easier to simply click a link and be taken to the exact location one is seeking. Would you agree?

One of the major reasons "Ama", the "Bay", etsy, PP, etc. are so successful is they make it SO EASY to click and buy that often we saw, wanted and bought before our minds even gave the purchase any serious/rational consideration. It's often referred to as an "impulse buy", "click-bait", etc.

One of the basic principles in selling is, "the easier it is to buy, the more likely it is that it will happen." Think of a "BIN" action.

And BTW, good luck with the sale...

I totally agree but wonder when posting links is allowed and when it's frowned upon, so sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Here I may have had "Xmas treasure hunt" in the back of my mind - he said ebay, it's a Sheaffer Holidays... e voila!

Interesting perspective regarding posting links. Personally I never give it much thought (rightly or wrongly) because I consider it simply making it easier for someone else to go directly to what I am referring to. This is true especially when I think posting specific content (quotes, images, etc.) may be a violation of some copyright issue.

QUESTION: To your (or anyone's0 knowledge are there any guidelines here on FPN for posting links?

I saw some favorable reviews of the $20 Hongdian Forest pens and ordered this one for my wife... I know she'll like the color.

Here is the info from the guidelines:

  • Threads posted in the various review forums must be full reviews. It's OK for people to leave a meaningful summary and then point to their sites, or have a link in their signature, but just saying something along the lines of "hey look at my review, here is the link" is not allowed.

  • Please do post helpful links. The Fountain Pen Network is part of the larger pen community, and we should all be assisting each other.
  • In a subject discussed on The Fountain Pen Network, links to other sites (including links to Blogs) may only be posted by approved and paying Premium Account Holders. Links, redirects or pointers to content, which duplicate content as found on The Fountain Pen Network, are not allowed. The Fountain Pen Network is a free service to our members, and The Fountain Pen Network maintains sets of rules, posting limitations, and a fee structure for those advertising goods, services, and external information sources such as blogs and sites which have similar content to the Fountain Pen Network.
  • You are allowed to add your site or business contact in your signature. This way, "who does/sells what" will be clear to everyone. Common sense, and a measure of propriety is assumed.

  • Posts containing links to your own eBay listings are strictly prohibited, except by Premium Account Holders in The Mall forum. eBay auctions may only be discussed after they are closed.
