MB 146. I've avoided the precious resin behemoth for a long time, but this deal was too good to pass up.

It's an M nib from the early 90s. The backstory is that the pen was damaged (barrel crack) and owner sent to Hamburg. The pen came back with everything replaced except for clip and nib, along with a 1-year warranty. A very reasonable price and what I believe will be a lasting value pen.

Nothing extravagant this time, just a NOS blue Lamy Al-Star so that I can have a Safari-a-like with a medium nib to fill out my collection pile.

Wow, great backstory.  You essentially have a brand new pen.😀. I’ll bet it writes really well.

How’s the line width?  Is it a true medium?  I’ve found that nib designations can be inconstant..

Hasn't arrived yet. Will post thoughts when it does. As long as the line isn't too fine (and I doubt it with an MB nib), I'll be ok with it.

It happened 15 minutes ago. I was looking at the Franklin-Christoph website, and saw an unexpected color. It is Coco Pearl. So I came back here to look up a thread on who is using Franklin-Christoph pens. The one I liked there was coco and cream.

Back to F-C, where the description mentioned using an acrylic from years past. I then selected a Nagahara B cursive italic on a model 45L in Coco Pearl. It will have a converter. I hope it’s a pretty as the one in their photo.

Please, let us know how do you like (or dislike) it. I'm curious.

So… I inked my new Kaweco Supra Eco-Brass fountain pen earlier today. Nothing to complain about the fit and finish, although it'll be a long time before it can prove to me whether it's so well-designed and well-machined that the metal-on-metal threads yet deliver good cap seal effectiveness. On the other hand, I wouldn't say it immediately impresses as being somehow superior to the brass-bodied Delike ‘clone’ pen models such as the Alpha and the Element with regard to fit and finish. (The Delike Times, which is a ‘clone’ of the Faber-Castell Ondoro, has an obvious problem with the fit of the cap over the hexagonal wooden barrel.)

I've only written with the pen in short configuration so far, and I don't mind the weight or balance. The exterior block thread at the end of the barrel, onto which to screw-post the cap, is slightly sharp; and so is the rim of the tiny step-down from barrel to grip section.

As for the Kaweco-rebranded, made-by-JoWo steel Fine nib, it writes like a Broad nib by my reckoning. It isn't at all scratchy, but it does feel a bit draggy writing with Monteverde Horizon Blue ink on Exacompta FAF 70g/m² paper. I am going to have to put a Chinese-branded nib — maybe a Fine Writing International (JoWo #6) or Opus 88 #12 (which is also JoWo #6) nib unit, or even a 35mm Moonman nib into the Kaweco nib housing — into the pen to make sure it gets some use, and I haven't totally wasted my money on the Kaweco pen. Alas, I cannot just screw the nib unit out of my Diplomat Aero to transplant into the Kaweco; I think that is my “best” nominally #6 nib made by either JoWo or Bock. Hmmm, come to think of it, I may have a spare Edison Pen Company (JoWo #6) nib unit somewhere that might fit this pen.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Thanks, that is certainly useful. I've been on the verge of getting one several times, specially because of the Jowo #6 nib, but I've never fell for it yet. I think that for the time being I'll stick with my Liliputs.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

This is beautiful.  It looks like it might be back heavy posted, though.  I have never seen a pen like this before. Wow.

@A Smug Dillwhen did they change?  My Kaweco EF and F were appropriately fine, though they I had to send them off to be tuned.  Mine are two-to-five years old.

Pilot 912 FA with Spencerian Grind from NIBS.COM. Never had this grind before and free.

Do not know what to expect. But I am sure it will be different from all my others pens.

you must have amazing handwriting. I found the m to be a firehose, and closer to a B.

I am satisfied with the writing experience of my brass Supra. I tried it out in a shop with a medium nib, but it was WAY too broad. The shopkeeper swapped in an EF (standard JoWo #6) and tuned it a bit for me, and now it serves me as a great pocket pen in the field. After about two years of not daily but regular use, the threads seem to be holding up well. I try to be careful not to over torque the cap when I close it to minimize thread wear. I like to keep my Supra polished, and over time the Kaweco logo on the end has disappeared. The etching on the side is a little deeper and still readable.

The threads seem to be well-machined, and as the pen will go 4-5 months without drying out, I suspect they don’t allow a lot of air leakage.

The Supra has a similar look, but is a different writing experience from the Liliput. If I recall from other threads, you also like the Slimline Montblancs, which in my hand feel similar to the Liliputs. The Supra is definitely heavier and notably thicker in the hand.

I use my Supra mostly with the extension so I can fill it with a converter, but posted it is ridiculously long and unbalanced. Without the extension and a short cartridge, it is very compact, and posted without the extension, the feel is similar to unposted with the extension.

Well, I was mistaken as to what is in my Kaweco Supra Eco-Brass pen. The exterior of the nib housing does not look like a (made-by-JoWo) Edison Pen Company, Fine Writing International, or Opus 88 (#12) nib unit; and the curvature of the underside of the feed is concave. On the other hand, the housing looks like that of a Bock 220 or 250 nib unit.
