I thought the Parker Jotter was a ballpoint pen?

They now make a matching FP. Looks like a modern version of a Parker 15.

Nice find!

I like it better than my VP. It writes a crisp line even being a medium. Better feeling in the hand too! Checked to see if more are available at $20. All gone, just ordered an EF for $50.

The ballpoint pen was the first with the name, they added an FP to the  US line in ‘82. It was previously known as the Parker 15, and is still called that in the UK, I think. Tony at Parkerpens.net wrote about it under the Parker Mixy heading. They’re school pens.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

Yes, there is a Parker Jotter Fountain Pen.

I own one.

I believe Parker introduced it about 5 years ago with not much in the way of promotion.

I would classify it as an entry level pen.

I would agree that the size of the nib is about the size of a small bird's beak.

But the writing is very smooth.

I would say that any pen manufacturer has begun making a fountainpen version of one of the ball-point pens disproves the assertion that fountain pens are 'dying off'.

Only if it is a success in sales. Just making one doesn't guarantee anything but a potential new sales area.

Thanks to everyone for the info on the Jotter. I haven't looked at any Parker stuff made since the 70s or so, and so it isn't a surprise I missed that development. My one Jotter is the one that belonged to my late father, in his office. It means a lot to me.

Absolutely impulse. About two hours ago I spotted this Sheaffer Royal Selangor pen for a reasonable price and got in touch with the seller. Made in the mid 90s, it was to be one of four Asian models but Sheaffer was sold and this one was the only model produced. The pen is based on the Connoisseur and the cap and barrel are pewter, with an 18k bi-tone nib. It's a big B nib with a huge blob of iridium, so I think I'll have a very special 2-way grind done on it. Looking forward to seeing it in person. that is very pretty.   What was the price? You mention it was reasonable so I think it incumbent to reveal it/ :)

Although I, too, am curious about the price, I am more interested in the weight  and how it writes - F/M/B? The metalwork looks quite nice in the image you posted. Is it silver, pewter or some other metal?

Wishing you much enjoyment using it.

That is always true.  Yet, that Parker sees a potential market and has sufficient confidence in it worth the expense of tooling up, manufacturing, and marketing (included advertising it) says something

Today's impulse acquisition (well, I should have it in my hand in about a week) is a Parker 61 Fighter.  Waited till almost the end of the auction and then bid the minimum.  It may need some nib work, and the seller wasn't sure if it worked -- but I know how to flush a capillary filler out....

Missing the hood arrow, sadly.  Hopefully there aren't any cracks in the hood either, but the seller accepts returns....

Of course tomorrow I'm probably going to have to fight with PayPal about them not accepting my JUST reset password (had to do the "we'll send you a one time code" thing instead -- but at least THAT worked...).

I bought a Pelican M205 blue and an M200 brown from Cult Pens at bargain prices, and also got a free bottle of Eldelstein ink......  I consider this an extremely rational purchase.  Plus 4 bottles of Shikiori ink, three Robert Oster inks, three R&Ks, a scented DeAtrementis, two Platinum Plasirs to give away (or keep)........

Back to the original question: I am looking forward to making several truly impulse purchases next week at the Colorado Pen Show.

Well, I'm a little hesitant, but... The pen, with case, was purchased for $170. The prices for these particular pens have gone up and down over the years but this is on the lower end, not a steal but a reasonable amount for both seller and buyer. It was also low enough that if I feel it doesn't feel forever, I can move it along without a loss. And I was really curious, too!

Less than you would expect... less than *I* expected! The total pen weight, with converter filled, is 40g; the barrel only (which is how I would write with this pen) is only 20g. While the barrel and cap are made from pewter, it must be fairly thin? In any event, it weighs less than it looks.

It is a smooth writing Sheaffer "B" nib, and being late in production, has a really big round ball of tipping (hence my comment about a potential grind). I could live with it as is, in terms of how well it writes, but the flow and size of the nib are too large for my normal handwriting. The nib, one like I haven't had on any other Sheaffers, is visually quite nice.

Well, you can see how I felt it was a reasonable price to ask, and I didn't feel a need to ask for less. There isn't a lot of documentation on this particular pen, which most people feel came out of they Connoisseur line, but if you scroll down just under halfway on this page, you will have most of your questions answered.

I bought a red marbled Waterman Expert from eBay.  Quite a low price.  I only bought it as it looked in good nick and had an 'L' (broad) nib.  Turns out to be immaculate, with convertor and writes superbly.  :)

Bought a medium sized Sheaffer Vac fill, gold filled cap and a 14K triumph nib (M?) (the white dot is located on the top of the vac end) at a yard sale yesterday. I thought it would need to be restored in order to work. Nope! Cleaned it up when I got home and it works well. $25.00! The body is a striated tortoise shell like material.  Anyone have an idea which model this might be?

Also bought a desk pen (brand unknown) which I thought had a crudded up gold plated nib. Turns out it's a Warranteed(?) 14k gold nib. That, along with a funky dip pen was $3.00! Good day to sale some yards, I guess.

I saw Aziza's review of the new Jinhao x159 and BAM, one is on the way to me via AliExpress. Does a $7 purchase even count? Well, it does for me....

With all the variations that Sheaffer came up with, it would be beyond helpful to have a couple of photos for proper identification.

Yes, I know that. At the moment the camera on the cell is wacky and my regular digital camera has been loaned to a friend for repair. I will re-post when one of them is working.

Thanks
