I saw a mib Platinum Plaisir for a really nice price and without thinking, bought it! Now it's mine and I'm very pleased with it!

The Platinum collection is growing 😁

We'll know tomorrow....  I'm currently the high bidder on a pen on the Bay of Evil, but apparently there are two other people watching the listing.

Plus, I'm waiting to hear back from the seller about the condition about another pen.  There are already a couple of bidders on the second one, but I've got time to think and watch because that listing ends next week.  Sort of tempted but I'll have to see how high the bidding goes in the meantime.

Sorry, somewhat duplicated an earlier post.

Pilot Custom 743 FA - I saw a great price on eBay and couldn’t pass it up. Been looking for a nice, flex nib for sketching, and….wow.

I'm leaning towards a vintage British pen because I have never seen pound to dollar exchange rates like the ones we currently have.  I'm even considering buying graduation gifts now to deliver in May/June.

Good plan.

I have a vintage De la Rue on the way.

Today, I saw it and I bought it. The only intermediate step was to look up a few references here on FPN because I wasn't familiar with the model. That is, a Montblanc 644 in black. The nib is allegedly flex, but I suspect semi-flex is closer. And it has a telescoping piston, which I have never seen in real life before. I understand it works a little differently from a modern piston, so I will be exercising some caution as I see how it works. I should have it in a few days.

The only reason is that I've been jonesing badly the past few days for a pen, while one I bought in UK is apparently lost somewhere in the Atlantic (that may be a tiny exaggeration). Now that I have scratched my itch, I'm hoping the UK pen will also turn up.

Edited to add: wow, sometimes I don't know my own strength. This was originally posted about 6:30 pm, as far as I can remember, which is 1830 in 24-hour time. My pen from UK was logged in at Jamaica NY International Distribution Center of USPS at 1937 this evening. (note: above bolding added for this edit)

Further on the Montblanc 644. I don't normally do this but I'm feeling giddy due to the above, so I will say that I think I got a really good price on this pen at $400. I didn't do any price checking at all before I bought it, but I did afterwards, and of the few others with an open nib that I can find for sale, the lowest price is $950. Well, maybe a pretty good day all in all.

An Ariel Kullock sterling silver capped Parker 51.  Aerometric made in the USA around early 60s, fully serviced and restored, new nib and sac etc.  I have quite a few Parker 51s in my collection but the Ariel Kullock cap is just too beautiful...

Well done. The nice thing about a pen like this is you have something truly unique; to pair the cap with iconic pen made in the millions is a very nice touch. Congrats.

Well, got outbid on the pen on eBay.  Upped my maximum a couple of times and then still got outbid.  Walked away this morning.  Frankly, I didn't want the pen that badly, and had gotten to the point of "Well, let's see how much the other bidder is willing to overpay for a Parker Vector...."  Because I sure wasn't willing to pay over $32....

Half expecting to see the buyer renege and the seller re-list it....

Also am thinking I'm NOT bidding on a Parker 41 I was watching.  Because it looks as if we're going to have to be replacing our furnace (to the tune over about $6K US...). :(  Apparently the manufacturer decided to discontinue the model a couple of years ago, and has even stopped making the parts for it -- more or less without bothering to tell any of the retailers.

OOOOOH!  Very nice, ruby.monkey!  That's one of the nibs I haven't ever been able to find anywhere (I have most of the 9xxx nibs at this point).

I almost impulsively bought a Pilot Custom 74 in orange with B nib. I’ve been trying to find out how my credit cards determine currency conversion.  PayPal’s is always higher than when I check xe.com.  I’d use a credit card instead if I could get a slightly cheaper price.

I just received a Sailor King of Pen (Medium nib, in Ebonite) from a seller on eBay.  I've wanted one of these quite badly, ever since I tried one at a pen show, sometime in the early-2000s.  I can rationalize the purchase several ways (good price, I'm not getting any younger, etc.), but that's all nonsense...  The fact is, ever since I got rid of my MB 149 (which wrote terribly, for a 'top-tier' pen), I've always missed not having a Huge Black Cigar of a pen in my collection, and the KoP was the only thing that was going to 'check all the boxes' for me.   >>:[ }

I thought the Parker Jotter was a ballpoint pen?
