I have a 25 ballpoint, and I've owned the pencil in the past (the BPs and pencils always seem to get stolen). I've never felt the attraction of the rollerball or fibre tip, though.

Impressive! Thanks for the pics.

eBay is weird. I picked up that Parker 25 with the italic nib for £15 last week. Today I'm watching an auction for a similar one that's over £40, and there's a few others with a BIN price of £80 or more, and all in similar conditions.

As Obelix might say, these eBayers are crazy.

I'm bad at that.  I let her granddaughter come up with a number per unit, which was considerably less than I would have offered.  I got one with larger boxes, one with smaller boxes, they threw in extra keys/replacement locks, and I can go back and get more as, "they aren't going anywhere."

Today at the Commonwealth Pen Show I picked up a Lapis Lazuli Parker Duofold Lucky Curve ringtop with a (slightly) oblique stub nib.  Not sure of the year or specific model (a 3-cap band button filler).  Then ended up tossing a black Parker 45 (as if I REALLY needed another black 45 :headsmack: -- except that this one has what appears to be a 14K broad nib....

The Duofold I had to drag my husband back into the show in order (as a vain attempt to talk me out out it ;)).  The 45 was the real impulse buy, because of the nib (I will have to replace the slide converter with a better one at some point, even if it's one of the piston ones).

Of course I ended up testing both pens before buying, so then I had to buy a bottle of Waterman Serenity Blue so I wouldn't have to flush them out right away.... B)

Well, I went to Five Below with my mom in Florida and succumbed to temptation, bought a 8 pen set, a calligraphy set, and another 2 pen set for less than $15.  Kinda glad this place isn’t in Oregon yet because I could impulse buy way too much there.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

Ruth, Great to see you again at the Pen Show today in Boston/Somerville. I even had the opportunity to meet the patient, kind and supportive husband..

Although you didn't buy anything from me, it was nice to chat in person.

My best to you both,

Gloucesterman

It’s worth a trip, the calligraphy set with the stub nibs made me think of you.

Fairly impulsive - I had looked at this pen in auction and about 3 hours before the end put in a snipe. Somewhat surprisingly, I got it. The impulse part comes with the current history we are living, as the grandson of the pen's purpose will be coronated around the time the pen should reach me. Parker Duofold, 1937 commemorative model.

I am politely requesting pictures of this Lapis Lucky Curve when you have a chance, it sounds lovely. I’m a sucker for blue pens, Parkers in particular.

Thanks.  It was good to see you too, although it was a long trip up and a long trip back (we left the hotel in Sturbridge around a quarter to 11 this morning, and got home around 9 PM -- fortunately we did NOT have the horrible traffic we dealt with on Friday in east  central PA on Friday (although we did see the dregs of what appeared to be a car fire eastbound on I-84 somewhere in CT).

I actually didn't buy much at the show -- the two pens, and a bottle of Waterman Serenity Blue ink (that was the tester ink I used in both of the pens I bought); my husband got a bottle of Noodler's Dark Matter, on the recommendation of some guy at the ink sample giveaway table in the center of the room who was wearing one of those "BSB shirts" because he wanted something a little less wet in his Vanishing Point than Namiki Black.  Although I DID warn him he'd probably have to flush the pen out well before putting the other ink into it, especially since I've never used either ink and ALSO don't know how they'll react (I just remember that old thread where someone mixed Noodler's Black with BSB and didn't wait to see what would happen before putting it into a pen.... :o).

My husband also introduced himself to Tim Holl, who knows my one brother-in-law (Norman is the Postmaster for the town Tim Holl lives in, but of course Norman didn't know my screen name here...).

OH MY, I have never been in the store, now I need to go.

They have a couple of Five Below stores near me.  I stick my nose in every now and then just to see what they have because the stock changes.  But a few years ago, when I had to see an ENT specialist after having some dizzy spells, I was given some exercises to do if I have another spell, involving tossing a ball a little in the air and then catching it in various permutations of hand tossing vs. hand catching [basically retraining my brain], and found a baseball for five bucks.   And I think I've found some inexpensive notebooks with decent paper in them at times.

Lovely pen, Jon. I'm envious!

But I am a little confused about the new king being "coronated" - why will he grow a crest or crown shaped appendage? (However, undoubtedly he will be crowned. I have no idea why there is such a disconnect between the words "coronate" and "coronation."  English is a weird language! )

Thank you. As to the word, hey, I'm in the US, we don't have royalty and I pulled the word out of thin air, and most likely used it incorrectly. I probably should have said "crowned", and that it is the ceremony that is the coronation. It's always a good day when I learn from my mistakes! :D
