My latest acquisition is (ahem) a new 3 Wt. fly rod for small river fishing -- soon to be accompanied by an on-order new reel.

Sorry. (not really)

Are you planning to catch a Fisher pen? 😉

...got my FedEx tracking number (fast for a Japanese seller IME and great communication so far).

I can't wait!!

the set arrived today! definitely NOS and aside from a tiny amount of UV exposure fading in the (gorgeous) royal blue knit fabric cover of the box, not even any shelf wear!!

this was darn near being a "sumgai" level find...

now, what ink to use first?

Today I spent too much money yet again. In an idle moment, I was perusing the goods at Atelier Lesoon (recommended in another topic somewhere on here), and found a Parker 51 in Nassau Green (allegedly, fingers crossed, and item returned if it is mis-identified), and an Oversized Vacumatic, both items which I have been inactively seeking for a while. Bought them on the spot. I may be digging into savings (again) to cover this little purchase.

NOT cool @Paul-in-SF

I innocently went to "just look" at Atelier Lesoon and bought a watch!!

talk about impulsive...

that seller is dangerous, lots of cool stuff there ...and in all seriousness, I have to thank you for the tip since the ultra-thin Roamer I bought looks fantastic!

as usual, the waiting will be almost as hard as the paying was 😂

I always call him Thierry the Watchmaker! I’ve never bought any of the watches he restores (his original/actual trade) but the before and after photos are simply spectacular! (Ok, I also have a weakness for fixing up old things.)

Ooh, ooh, ooh! My new slim Targa is waiting for me at work.

Also, ordered a Kaweco Collection Red (F) today, definitely an impulse buy.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

That's great news.  I on the other hand have a reel on the way via Royal Mail from Norhtern Ireland to go with the previously mentioned fly rod.  'Happy days are a comin'!'

Congratulations! love the Targas in many of their various identities. Are they the Rodney Dangerfield of pens? I'm not complaining if it keeps prices low.

This Kanwrite fine ultraflex piston filler with "Fireblast" barrel is on its way from India (or soon to be). This was totally an impulse - I didn't read a single review or even shop around. Was totally sober. I don't know why, I guess I thought it was kind of cute. Does the "ultraflex" really have any flex?

That ultraflex should be fairly nice, same as FPR's ultraflex. I have some FPR flex, they had some flex but required strong pushing; when I applied to some the half-moon cutouts of the Ease-My-Flex modification they improved very significantly, so my guess is that this Kanwrite UltraFlex should be actually nice and fun to use.

Congratulations. It looks a very nice pen.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Leonardo Grey Arco MZG with Ruthenium trim came the other day.  It's interesting, a sparkly grey, some silver and some white.  Interesting mixture and maybe the start of new arco production to replicate the old OMAS Arco.

A Diplomat Elox, a day or so ago, on account of what looks to me like a pricing error. Let's see if the retailer will honour the accepted and already-paid-for order.

Two more Majohn (né Moonman) A1 pens, just now, while they're “cheap”.

A Diplomat Elox,

Looking very much forward to your opinion of this pen! I have been trying to decide when and which color (and maybe even if) to add to my collection (ie, bend the rules, or is getting another pen that is so clearly an iteration of the Aero already bending the already bent rules 😜).

Clarification edit: the already bent rule being only one example per model, of course.

If possible to share: How "cheap" did you buy or find them for, @A Smug Dill? I saw them at about €30 on AliExpress, and this seems just a bit cheaper than before. I don't mind much the color, so I'm trying to find the cheapest to try out these pens.

I've heard a variant of this rule: Every person is entitled to one glass of wine. But after each glass of wine you're a new person. 😜

Lol!!

I have kind of settled on a happy medium in terms of rules of exceptions to the rules: 1. Special editions and series (especially colorful ones!) are allowed at the collector’s discretion, and 2. There may be cases in which the collector may decide that multiples of certain models need not be classified as officially part of the official collection, and finally, 3. There may be unforeseen exceptions to the rules that may in future require additional rules of exceptions to the rules.

I thought the Diplomat Elox has only really been available with (a mainly black body and) orange rings until recently. I know I saw one retailer list a model with blue rings, and now another retailer list a model with purple rings, but no-one so far carries both new colours (or all three) that I'm aware.

The Aero and the Elox have the same shape, but I don't think the Elox has the lengthwise pits on the surface, and the Aero is not two layers of different coloured aluminium with the black being a sleeve (with concentric rings cut from it) over the coloured one. Am I mistaken?

I bought mine for US$24.78 each, inclusive of “free shipping” and 10% GST due Australia, with choice of some different colours (but not the entire range), and both clipless and models with clips.

Hmmm, from the same seller, when I switch the delivery destination to Utrecht in the Netherlands, the price (including “free shipping”) before tax jumps to US$28.26. That's after automatic “seller discount” of US$2, and application of “coins” in my account (awarded for playing stupid games) to account for another US$0.58. When the delivery destination is Australia, that tax-exclusive effective price would be US$22.53.

I know there are a few European retailers that have the blue and black version available (but possibly only for pre-order / delivery wait, not sure) and I read on the German forum that it was an American retailer that got the scoop on the brand new violet version, as it had not even been offered to the German retailer who commented to that effect there. I am somewhat tempted by the violet version, I must admit. But the original orange one is also growing on me. :)

And regarding it being an 'iteration' of the Aero, it does indeed have a different outer design, but even Diplomat admits on their site that it is from "the same DNA." But it's that very distinctive Aero shape that is what has me calling it an iteration. I was waiting to see if it would remain at just the one single color, which would logically make it a special edition, or if there would be more colors and/or styles, which would support the argument of a new model (haha!). But on the other hand, it's not like new iterations of the same model is not a solid part of Diplomat's whole DNA... over multiple decades... lol. But I do appreciate you offering me up more arguments for why it does deserve an official spot in the collection! 😜 And enabling again...
