Thank you! It’s a little penguin, I love it (although I would if it was a Pelikan too)!

Yeah, duh.  I mistyped (It's been a really long few days and pretty stressful for the most part, having to make a 3 day trip to Massachusetts and back to get stuff from my late mother-in-law's house out of storage; my one brother-in-law wants to consolidate things to ONE unit but that ain't happening any time soon -- plus he stacked the boxes so poorly that when my husband opened it up stuff FELL because some of them were stacked on top of things that they were too heavy for and the larger, lower-down boxes were getting crushed by the weight.  We also have NO idea what's in any of them -- he supposedly has a list and some boxes had random notations on them, but HE lives on the West Coast....

On top of which some little FB troll took umbrage at my laughing at his stupid and now he and his friend want to "hex" me :lticaptd:(guy was raving about some "local" ice cream stand which turns out to be one of something like 70 odd stores in 10 states -- AFTER shooting off his mouth about how he's "vegan"....  Oh, and how he was a "social" anarchist (then got pissy when I made fun of THAT as well, mostly by saying "Well, you're the one calling YOURSELF an anarchist...."  He then trolled my FB page which caused a friend to be alarmed that the page had been hacked and I was like "No, he's just a poser who wants to be an 'agent provocateur' because that's more glamorous than being a troll...."  And compared him to a person who doesn't exist but was a name used in a college mailing list to track down people who stole the mailing list (and is NOW occasionally found in peoples' documentation because the little dweebs don't realize the "guy" and his "credentials" are all made up, *including* the "publications..."; the "guy" was listed as being a professor and that included a real professor's phone number as his "office mate" -- so she would routinely get called by telemarketers looking for him and she'd say "Oh, I'm sorry -- he's at his SKYDIVING lesson..." YES!!

If for no other reason than otherwise they may give all your pens to the local thrift store when they are cleaning out your stuff.  EEK

They wouldn't - one would go through looking for any stubs... He got a fude from the Easter Bunny. The other's a lefty but has spent too much time in Japanese stationery shops to do such a thing. ;)  Of course, that one brought me back a Parker from a Japanese stationery shop, not exactly what I was expecting.  Did better second trip.

a wonderful pen for your collection. Mine are part of my EDC. I've been down this rabbit hole many times.. 14/24/34/74/84..

@SpecTP, congratulations, I've been too scared to actually bid for 74/84s for fear I may heat up and forget my price limit, and buying them directly seemed so far quite expensive.

Hehe, kudos, I don't know if I'd have been this wise. After all, I'm skipping on the newly released, fancy pens these days too. But I do appreciate such nice pens even when others have them (and wisely bought them).

heh.. I don't think it was wisdom.. just a contrarian attitude of liking slim pens when everyone was into big bulky 149's

Well, sadly, this is just the next round of the moving (we still haven't gotten the boxes out of the back end of the van) although my husband's niece said she just got a truck and can go up there from where she lives in Rhode Island to at least try to consolidate stuff from two storage units down to one (her dad was the one who did most of the packing up but he has the list of what's in what box, and lives in the Seattle area -- plus is the one who loaded up the units so badly).  And we have to take the van into the shop tomorrow -- boxes and all....

As for the FB troll?  He and some little dweeb friend of his were going to cast a HEX on me :lticaptd:And probably didn't like it when I said I had attempted to read Aleister Crowley when I was younger than he is NOW....  I've now blocked him, but might unblock him if that's the only way I can read the links he posted to my wall (in one case just to see if he's got the RIGHT "Harry Bovik" (who is in fact a fictitious name on a copyrighted CMU mailing list -- the way some cartographers will add a fake street into a map).

While my wife was looking at some vintage jewellery in a Pawn Shop my eye fell on some fountain pens, mostly Montblancs. In a cabinet I saw a 'lonely' Parker 45 Flighter Deluxe gold nib. I was love struck. I asked for the price and bought there and then!!! Neat pen

Yeah, he's one of these people whose stories change on a regular basis.  First he was an anarchist, then it was "Oh, no, I'm not a political anarchist -- I'm a SOCIAL anarchist!"  Then it's "I'm an Antifa anarchist -- but I used to be a "leftist skinhead".  But of course what REALLY made me laugh and point was the stupid was raving about how good the ice cream was at some area place, and how he "supports small businesses" -- while in fact the place was part of a chain in TEN STATES (I checked -- there's another location north of me, and I don't know what locations are company owned and what ones are franchises -- but betting the little dweeb doesn't EITHER).  And the really hilarious part?  He claims to be VEGAN (yeah, I wanna see the recipe for vegan ice cream...; ova-lacto vegetarian?  I'll buy -- vegan?  I was just FACEPALMING (and of course then HAD to post the relevant "Princess Bride" meme: "That word -- I do not think it means what you think it means."  Because it was the ONLY appropriate response.  At which point he got his little dweebie friend to help cast a hex on me.... :lticaptd:Sent that dumb cluck a PM saying "What's the matter cupcake?  Light the candles in the wrong order or something?"  Then hit the "block" button.

Seriously, though, the guy seems to think he's Schmendrick the Magician.  But if it that's the case?  *I'M* the Unicorn!  (Or, as my mother use to say in reponse to stupee people like that: "I'm bigger and older and meaner and uglier than you!")

@inkstainedruth, perhaps you will be heartened to know allowing this kind of scourge on their platform will soon cost Facebook and the likes not only decent users, but money. The EU is the trailblazer, but the expectation is al countries that matter for your situation others will follow:

Quote

The law comes with great powers. For the first time outside the realm of antitrust and competition, the Commission will have the power to slap fines of up to 6 percent of a company's global revenue on the likes of Facebook, Google, Twitter and Amazon if they don’t curb disinformation and cyber violence against women on their platforms, as well as limit the risk these companies pose to people's fundamental rights, diversity of the media and users' mental health.

Source: Clothilde Jouard and Mark Scott (2022) Everything you need to know about the EU’s plan to clean up Big Tech. Politico.eu article, Apr 26.

That pitiful individual is about to become a costly pitiful individual, and the platform is about to dump him. He just doesn't know it yet.

Hope this helps.

Well, I'm sure the people he was trolling on the political site where I ran across him will be relieved (mind you I was ALSO trolling them, going "WTH?" at the stupid things THEY were saying.

No, I'm DEFINITELY not voting for that candidate in the primary -- nor for the guy's main competition; nor, for that matter any of the other candidates people brought up as "better" (they weren't).

Told my brother a couple of weeks ago I'm SERIOUSLY considering doing a bunch of write-ins this time around for the (fictional) Lovecraftian god C'thuhlu and my brother (a horror fan of long-standing) said "Make sure you spell C'thulhu CORRECTLY!"  (According to him, this is how it's supposed to be spelled.... ).  And will probably be singing the filk someone wrote years ago (to the tune of "Chattanooga Choo-Choo") when I walk out of the polling station....

Very lovely pen, congrats. I mean, as long as it is still ok to talk about pen acquisitions in this thread.

An auction win - a Sailor pocket pen with a 14K fine nib - looking at the pictures it reminds me of one of the older Pilot Elites.

Will work for pens...

After my first ever purchase (Pilot Metropolitan), I got the itch.

So....Birmingham Raven Model C had to join me.  Boy, this is a nice, hefty piece of work!

Ahhh, the cute bear got me! (Or I got it, impulsively!) @A Smug Dill started it, @Misfitand @AmandaW chatted me into it, and today AliExpress prodded me once too many times to say no. I said to myself it's for my better half, but she only uses the one pen I got her for her birthday so it's probably not gonna happen. 😁

Now we wait... ETA May 27.

Disclaimer: no bear was harmed in this process.

The larger size Deluxe Challenger, yes? That's a lovely pen, and they are such good writers. I have the smaller size in that finish with the "other" clip (I don't know what it's usually called -- no ball at the end, pointy instead). I have this size in the silver and black with nickel-plated furniture (I think, anyway, some of it is showing the brass underneath) and a Canadian nib.
