I've just inked them :) The KOP B nib is inked with Iroshizuku Take-Sumi and is a real gusher. The KOP Profit M nib is inked with Robert Oster Black Violet and writes like more like a a European fine, as one would expect. Both absolutely superb nibs. Completely delighted!

KOP nibs are just great. They are great every time and everywhere I tried them. They have a unique feedback and softness that I like very much. I also prefer the Pro Gear flat-top style over the cigar shape on Sailor pens, though that's very much a personal preference. For cigar shape pens, I think MB nailed it with their 149. Enjoy your new pens!

I tried to be impulsive three times this morning, for three different vintage Spanish-made Montblanc pens with striated barrels and caps (a 26 and two 42s), but I was waaay outbid on all three. Oh well, until next time.

No no, that's not impulsive enough... 😀 That's like saying rational craziness, what do you mean?!

WOW! Those are some gorgeous bright colors!! Is this alumilite resin?

I believe so. Her work is incredible.

I didn't get to meet her, but I did meet her husband, the pen maker, Jim HInze.

Pen: London Pen Company Christopher 14 Brooks Abalone with juicy, broad nib.

Ink: Birmingham Pen Co. Victorian Plum

Paper: Apica

Yes, it was a bit impulsive, but it is a gorgeous pen and writes wonderfully well. It is a large pen, but well balanced.  Money well spent!

OH MY that's a beautiful pen and a perfect ink combination!!!

I just purchased a Visconti Rembrandt Master of the Arts Eclipse fountain pen with a dreaded F nib because it was the best price I found. I can swap it with another Rembrandt I own.

I saw it while browsing giardino it.  They did not have it in stock. Should have been the end to this. But no, I went searching last night and today. I found the one I bought at an Italian website I’ve never bought from because they had a 20% off code pop up. The website is forzieri.com

So, because I should not have bought it, I must make myself clean pens to earn this impulsive, ill-advised, economically questionable purchase

Sorry about the fine nib, but congrats on those pens!

Good job getting pens cleaned!

Happy birthday!  I bought that HInze Pen as my birthday present.  Nice to see another April baby!

How fun!!

The reason I was asking is because I recently ordered a pen from a pen maker in the UK and I chose a Brooks blank (Golden Rule) for it, which I understand is alumilite resin. It's finally supposed to be arriving tomorrow, according to the tracking, after taking a few extra days to get through customs. I'm really excited to see it and try it out! I've seen a short video but that's not like holding it in your own hands and writing with it, is it?

The real world impinges by such things as forcing me to buy a new refrigerator this month instead of a few more pens. I guess I didn't want them badly enough to be truly crazy.

Darn real world.  My mastiff insists on eating so that does impinge on my pen budget.

Well, as much as I like pens, I think you’ve made a wise decision of fridge first, pens later. 😀

It will need a fridge pen to go with it.

I can only add that i bid on a Japanese pocket pen when, after the dramas with the last one, i said I'd had enough of the whole worry inducing process. Why was i even looking?  But this one is sooo.... cute.

Will work for pens...

I finally had to have a new IR thermometer and pulse-ox, as the ones I bought five years ago were failing.  And while I was logged into Prime, I went looking for backups for the Jinhao 51A XF I use as my jotting pen at work.  And the ones they had that I wanted weren't on Prime, and I said, "I'll buy from YC Pen on ebuy."  I'd had a five-pack of XF 51As and a plastic F 51A in my cart for months.  And then I decided I just had to have a wooden F 51A too.  So I put that in my cart and paid.

I just bought a Pelikan 140 KM nib. Now I have to decide which nib it will replace.

My last impulsive pen purchase was the Retro51 2022 Cherry Blossom fountain pen from Fahrney's 10 days ago.  I was somewhat restrained and kept it in the shopping cart all day long to make sure I still want it at the end of the day. It is a very nice pen, but the nib (1.1 stub) I'm not sure about. I will need more time to try different inks. R+K Alt Grüngold is not it.

It's quite likely just a Chinese knock-off, as the limited edition was from some years ago and I think for the Korean market only; but, for the asking price, if it functions properly as a fountain pen then I could live with it not being a genuine German-made product should it come to that.

I bought a Pelikan labeled as an M200, I am pretty sure that it is actually an M800 based on the measurements and the 18k nib.. I'll let you know when it arrives.

I always liked that particular Lamy with the bear, but never got one because of the prices.

If you don't care or mind that it is probably a Chinese-made knock-off (that nevertheless writes, but just forget guaranteed interchangeability of parts with other Lamy pens), then you can get this set for US$14.14 delivered (plus tax if applicable), which is less than what I paid it, for on account to higher shipping charges to Australia (and 10% GST added to the whole lot including shipping charges):

Germany-LAMY-Fountain-Pen-Limited-Editio

Source: AliExpress

Spoiler

The list reads:

  • retail pack carry bag ×1
(N.B. the seller stated in the item listing that the bag is not sent by default, and you have to specifically request it)
  • silica gel decorations ×2
  • converter ×1
  • ink cartridge ×1
  • gift box ×1
  • user guide ×1
  • fountain pen ×1
  • felt pen sleeve ×1

The search term to use is: “LAMY Fountain Pen Limited Edition Cartoon Gift Box”.

Thank you! The Louis Cartier is one of my favorite pens so when I saw the full set I had to go for it.
