What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

Went into Fook Hing's in Singapore (wonderful place by the way) with a budget in mind........trebled it after spying the Visconti Medici and Pelikan Ocean Swirl and not being able to decide between them and therefore bought both.

What's your experience been with the Visconti? I love the looks of those pens, but I hear a lot of concerning reports on quality.

Oh, I know this of myself

I assume as much for other people

We’ve listened more to life’s end gong

Than the sound of life’s sweet bells

I did order the Pen Addict Franklin Cristoph Model 02 on an impulse. But... I also made my way to the F-C website and got a 14kt S.I.G Flex Nib. Talk about an Impulse Buy!

A few days prior I found a SS Lamy 2000 for an amazing price so I'm currently waiting on that too.

And just to add. Target stores have Pilot Iroshizuku Ink Online. You can have it shipped to the store for free. My Yama-Budo should be here soon.

Haven't inked it yet, but the joy of going to a B&M seller is they let me play with it extensively, tweaked the nib and as a dip pen it wrote beautifully

Impulsive pen purchase that I might be having a little buyer's remorse over: Montblanc Tribute to the Mont Blanc. Even though it was a hell of a deal because it needs some nib work, it was still far too expensive. And I'm not 100% in love with the size -- it's a little smaller than the 146. We'll see about this one.

My fingers are always inky and I'm always looking for something new.  Interested in trading?  Contact me!

A bit cheaper than most of what people are naming here: one of the brass imitations of a Kaweco sport made by a Chinese company.

The Gray Capless Decimo about six months ago was an impulsive aqciusition, but I've cought a few pens after careful deliberation since then... :)

I have had a few of those impulse acquisitions (or “spontaneous purchases”) over the holiday season...

I got Franklin Christoph 45 in Italian Ice with Masuyama Italic M nib, because... it was available. It made a brief appearance in the stock room, grabbed it, and... LOVE it! I should have waited until Philly Pen show and gave other folks a chance to buy it, but since I wasn’t sure if Italian Ice would be available at the show...

Also got a couple of pens from Levenger, as they had a great sale. I am reasonably happy with them, but wondering if I should have saved my money for something more special... for my grail pen that I am hoping to find at the pen show...

I’m back....

Friday I ordered a couple more pens. I’m happy to say that besides a vintage pelikan and a lamy Aion I am done buying for a while.

I ordered two Franklin-Christoph pens.

I got a vintage green pocket 20 and a ghost model 03. One is a matsuyama fine cursive italic and the other is a broad ci.

I finally pulled the trigger on an 823 in fine.

And lastly, I filled my sailor spot with a sky pro gear.

Pretty happy to have my list almost completed.. The pelikan I will buy at a Pen show. Just need to figure out which one I want to go to.

I finally picked up a Waterman Carène just after Christmas. I realized they were still available and decided to snatch one up.

Barclay 1394. My lone Centropen was getting lonely.

I bought a pen last week. My New Year's resolution barely lasted 72 hours 😂 I got a simple Sheaffer Prelude to go with my Parker Sonnet. They look like brothers from another mother 😄 Adorable 😊

Often wondered about centropens. What is the quality and writing experience like with them?

My first and only was a diminutive little cheap thing that came in a lot of pens off the bay. It's a bulb filler with a cute little breather tube but also with lots of crazing and a few cracks where the section joins the transparent barrel meaning it will probably leak if I try to fill it. That won't happen, unfortunately, because a previous owner filled it with something, I know not what, that has resisted all attempts to clear the feed and ink channel and the section is glued to the barrel. Nib and feed obstinately refuse to budge from my frontal attack. I'm stubborn about these things so every few months I go back to it and try something else or something that I tried before (google definition of insanity) and, so far, the pen is winning. It is completely clogged so it sits in the pen drawer looking cheap and sort of pretty. The nib felt reasonably smooth when I dipped it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

this one. not in my plans (it's been a grail for some time, but way beyond reach) so it was hard to resist the impulse when i found one being offered, new and uninked, at a third of the usual price:

Visited Dromgoole's when in Houston last week and picked up an Aurora 88 Marte and a Danitrio flat-top Mikado eyedropper in Aka-tamenuri.

Not a star wars fan at all but i bought a Sheaffer Darth Vader FP on sale for $15.00. I had a bunch of Sheaffer cartridges but no working Sheaffer FP. It writes very nicely.
