Kakimori brass dip pen. I've been dithering about these for a few months, and they were in stock yesterday...

I was up in the middle of the night a few nights ago, unable to sleep and jonesing for a pen. So I bought a vintage Parker Duofold in that blue and cream sort-of arco design from, I think, the late 20's. I have no idea if I got a good deal or not, or even if the damn thing works, it was a very impulsive move, I paid the full BIN price, and they haven't even shipped it yet after 4 days. Well, the addiction wants what the addiction wants. I only plead that it happened under great stress, which is why I was up at that hour in the first place. These addictions do tend to strike us when we are at our weakest.

Let's look also at the positives: it's a Duofold. So this addiction will write nicely, plus you can sell it back if you don't care about it anymore. 😄

Last year, I finally gave in to curiosity about Pilot's EF nib and bought a Custom  Heritage 91.

Turns out I love the EF nib.

When Pilot came out with the Custom 74 in Blue Stone, I thought it was very pretty, but... I don't need any more pens.

A couple of days ago, I inked up six of my eight pens with PIlot 14kt nibs, and while the PO is my absolute favorite, that #5 EF became such a close second, it knocked the #5 F to third.

(They're all my favorites, but if under duress and protest I had to impose a hierarchy, then this would be it.)

I guess the impulse was to check what nib sizes the 74 uses. Probably F, M, and B.

And EF!

And #5!

So I ordered one. Despite not needing any more pens. Haha.

It'll take between two and eight weeks to arrive.

Just now! I clicked the button for a black Lamy Aion EF at a pretty good price.

I couldn't resist it as a companion for the secondhand red one with fine nib that arrived recently. That has been constantly inked (with Diamine Ancient Copper) since it landed. It does have quite a fat section, but I find it comfortable, especially the days when my arthritis is being annoying.

Will work for pens...

Oh! We've been discussing this pen over on this thread re metal sections and weight distribution:

We've been trying to figure out if and what the ergonomics of the section being much heavier than the barrel might be. I'm sure your input there would certainly be of interest!

Pilot Ishime Hunter Green. I remembered having seen a picture of it, and as a Pilot, it would likely write well. What more do you need? :)

Two Conklin Deco Crest. The Gun metal Orange one and the Rose Gold Blue from Speerbob.

Originally I was looking at just one and couldn't decide between the two listed above. Buying from Speerbob I decided to go for both. No shipping cost and no Amazon taxes.

Was sent a 15% discount code from an online pen retailer that I had ordered from in the past, good for only this weekend.  Was just going to have a little peek.  Mistake!  Just ordered a Platinum Maki-e Kanazawa Gold Leaf Red Mt. Fuji, M nib.  Was so pretty!

Very nice. I really like the image on the pen. The modern Maki-e technique is quite attractive and has the benefit of the lower price from the regular Maki-e.

I've been eyeing that series for a while but keep wondering if I would find it to narrow.

They are slim pens. I had one, I think exactly like the one pictured, that I sold on because I found it mildly uncomfortable to use.

Yeah, thinking that might be an issue for me too.  I can always give it to my daughter if it doesn’t work for me.

If you can write and/or draw with a ‘standard’ sized pencil comfortably, then that pen should not be too narrow; and the step-down from barrel to gripping section is too slight to be noticeable, let alone annoy, in actual use.

It does seem, from what I've read online, that this product's finish is more likely to wear off compared to higher-end maki-e pens, and especially noticeable when there are large patches of colour (such as the image of Mount Fuji); so I'm a little wary of using mine (with Falling Autumn Leaves), and will probably end up giving it away to friends instead.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I also read that the design might change color slightly with use, and that posting the cap might cause wear on the design -- of course I read this all after I ordered the pen 🙃.  That said, if I like it, I will just use it and not worry about these things.

NOS Montblanc 146 from the mid 90

Very nice, @Pjake!

Did you get it from eBay's Altmannen? If so, I also had a look at it yesterday (but it was too expensive for what I wanted to spend at the moment).
