@chromantic and @Mech-for-i, pictures or it didn't happen. :)

Here's a picture from the seller's listing, as I only ordered it last night. Wanted it for the 4 full-size Optimas (3 in hand plus 1 on the way) I've recently acquired. I have Mini, too.

This one was really impulsive, as how could I possibly have planned it? I was trolling through eBay last weekend, saw this, put it on my watch list, was offered a discount, accepted that, and it was delivered yesterday as my present for the holiday. Oh and a shout out to the seller marrapapor_2, who was very solicitous throughout the sale and delivery.

This is an unbranded pen, and I mean there is nothing written on it anywhere that I can find, except the nib. The nib was, I believe (although he did not expressly say so) rescued from another pen and put in this one. The pen itself is a nice size (134 mm), with very clean furniture, and an evenly-colored material (I can't tell if it is discolored from the original, but it so it happened to the entire pen evenly). The only flaw I have seen so far is that the clip is a little sprung.

The star of the show, I guess, is the nib, which is an Eclipse nib, Fine in width, and extra soft or semi-flex. It measures a size 6 as far down as I can measure it without taking it out. I did have to work on it a bit, it was a tiny amount out of alignment, and also a little rough on top of that. It is better now although still quite feedback-y.

one of my favourite pens has a hairline crack on the cap which is getting worse.

It's a Pelikan M200 old style blue marble, with a steel M nib, and it was bought very cheap some time ago, specifically to be used as a workhorse pen, and therefore without too much attention to the aesthetic status.

The pen has served me well for a number of years and as I mentioned the smooth and slightly flexy M nib is a favourite for multipurpose use (in use I have learned that if I hold it more upright the line becomes finer, which I use when I need to take quick notes on small notebooks).

The crack is however worsening to the point I can feel the resin is probably breaking as it catches in my clothes when I pull it out my pocket.

I have thought of buying a spare cap, but besides the fact the old style caps are not easy to find, cost is not too far from buying the whole pen!

So we come to the point that my last impulsive buy is a blue marble M200!

seller's photo for now, as it will be shipped beginning of January  (from which you can probably guess who the seller is... ;))

A black Pilot E95s with an extra fine nib. Yes, I did get the burgundy with a fine nib just a few weeks ago, but did say then that if I loved it I was planning the pair. Well I do love it and, yes, it is a bit quicker than intended: I'm cheering myself up after the stinking heatwave that ruined our Christmas. Merry Christmas to me. I'm going to think about the pen, make a little case for them and deliberately forget about the rest.

Will work for pens...

Do modern Parkers have QC issues? Definitely. But I'm curious to see what Parker's new take on the Sonnet is. Plus, check out that ROSE GOLD!

I’m not exactly sure that it’s an impulse purchase.  I’ve been looking for one of these elegant DuPont Gemline Dress pens for awhile.  When I saw it on eBay at a reasonable price, I snapped it up.9AF65970-A879-4812-A280-E5C8E89CCF0A.thumb.jpeg.7b4328b167b2ab9292ab90f543e3276f.jpegA1334767-5CED-4E0E-BE01-8E1276FB62F6.thumb.jpeg.3812c18e4ba7d21bbcca88f711e39568.jpeg

Definitely looks classy - my perspective of course. How does it write? The sides looked rounded so I wonder how it feels when you are holding the pen and writing?

Good luck and enjoy it during the new year.

The collage shows my new pens from 2021. The last two, a Montblanc 232 ex-M, now IM, and a Pelikan M400 Tortoise White B (already stubbed to an IB) do qualify as impulse purchases. Well ... most pens on the photo do, except the ones I got as gifts (the MB 342g, the Pilot CH 912 and the MB 146):

I had two Pelikan M400 Tortoise White (DIY-architecty F and Fritz Schimpf IB) before and was stupid enough to sell both, but regretted it sorely. So with some Christmas money I bought one with a B nib on Wednesday. It arrived yesterday, and since Silvester was not what it used to be in other years, I spent a relaxed & happy evening with my Dremel and some micro mesh to turn the nib into a fat, wide, wet stub.

Looks like I found pen heaven with the pens I got in 2021 and the years before! :bunny01:

Very elegant pen.  Makes me think 1920s, Art Deco!  Hadn't seen one of these before.  Enjoy!

I love using the Lamy SLAB so much, I bought a spare just in case mine gets broken or lost! But I can't vouch for a very effective cap seal; it isn't bad,

Found my Lamy SLAB hiding from casual contact, in the leather pen case where I last left it. Still wrote without hard starts upon being uncapped, in spite of it being filled with the supposedly nasty or troublesome Hero 234 carbon black ink. I opened the pen up, and there's a sticky label on the converter to tell me that I filled it on 12/9/2021 (i.e. in September, not December!); and there was still maybe 15% of the capacity of the converter filled with liquid. All in all, respectable performance from a Lamy pen.

Of course, there was some non-negligible amount of evaporation, and cleaning the business end of the pen as well as the inside of the converter was not easy, even with the help of an ultrasonic cleaner. I could not get all of the black soot off the interior wall of the converter, after many varied attempts; but I did eventually remove (at a guesstimate) >98% of it.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Impulse with a purpose. 😉

The latest wasn't for me but finishing a gift project for my wife. I've had a lovely golden brown Waterman Starlet, with a stellar 14k nib, for over a year and had been completely stymied by an inability to pull the section to put in a sac. So much so that it became the first pen in years where I warped the celluloid a bit in the heating process, even though I patiently attempted this over a number of weeks. <sigh> Then a distant pen friend needed to lose some pens and he had another Starlet in blue for a reasonable price. I snapped it up and was able to pull and swap the two nibs, and it is a delightful pen for writing. Here's a quick look - we just inked it up today:

Beautiful pen, She's lucky to have someone as thoughtful and persistent as you. Also, it's wonderful that she shares your appreciation of pens and writing.

Happy New Year...
