I finally received my Woodshed pen co Kickstarter pen!!-review and post coming soon!--

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart."

I just impulse bought a Pelikan set on ebay...

Pelikan 500 and matching 450 tortoise from the 1950s, with a lizard skin etui coming with them

The whole affair looks very golden...

Usually, I am not at all into plastic pens with metal caps, but this set somehow caught my eye and as there was no one bidding almost until the end, I pulled the trigger to get the poor thingies home.

I woke up this morning around 3am and was awake enough after a bathroom visit to start fiddling on my phone.

I ended up ordering a Franklin-Christoph 02 (Emerald Ice) with a medium S.I.G., an extra nib, and a couple of bottles of ink (Blue 72, Honeycomb). Never owned an F-C pen or tried an SIG nib before. But I have been looking at this pen for a few days now, so it's technically not impulse, maybe.

Here's the impulse part: I was still awake and browsing youtube reviews of F-C pens. I learned about the eye-dropper pocket 66 and saw they have an "Ice" one that may be of limited numbers. So I placed another order, this time the pocket 66 with S.I.G. in Fine.

Lesson: I need my phone to be far away from my bedroom at 3am. . .😬

It isn't exactly an impulse, but there is a certain pen I'm lusting for simply because, but I will restrain myself until after the Christmas and new year holidays.

Whatever I buy tomorrow because it will be Fountain Pen Day and something always pops up that seems like a particularly good deal.

Ouch!

Saw a Pilot Grandee (the slim metal barreled one with an *almost* wrap-around nib) in nice shape for $100. Thought about it for about ten minutes, since the section has a personalization, then placed the order.

Now I believe that I have all of the Grandee series pens? ...or rather, *will* have all three major design families, once this one arrives (I only have the black resin Custom Grandee, no sliver or wood versions, the wide/chiselled band Grandee and now a gold plated metal body Grandee, which also came in colored lacquer and silver variants).

edit

Oh No!!!! looks like there was a Grandee L as well 😧

Damn! I didn't think of that.  That's added temptation.

PenChalet started early... Sheaffer 100  F and Cross ATX M at prices too good not to give them a try.  If I don't like them I can always give them to someone.

My latest impulse buy was another Vac 51, purchased last night a few moments after it was posted.
I already have a dozen, but one can never have too many of one’s favorite pen…right?

True, and that is why I am lusting for one of my favourites.

Ooo, please share your EF nib findings. My M nib is so smooth and juicy I'm reluctant to risk swapping it out.

Oh I saw their e-ad.  But I'm saving up for next weekend and the Ohio Pen Show, since I have a bunch of pens that need repairs.  Probably can't all of them fixed but I'll see who's there and how much time I've got (and how far down on the signup sheets I end up being... :headsmack:).

ETA: Just saw a FB post from a friend of mine that filtered into my inbox before I logged on here, and he's got one new pen and one vintage pen on their merry way to his house, but he didn't say what they were.

Duplicate post from another thread (about the Appelboom store in Boston, MA. which relates well to this topic/thread...

Fountain Pen Day 20% discount used! (probably today 11/5/21 only)

Just purchased, impulsively, some pens, ink and a 14K gold nib sized for a M200/400 Pelikan. It came with free shipping. Although I live in the greater Boston area and occasionally travel to Boston I really did not feel the urge to to go into the city.

I could have easily bought more as their prices are generally quite good on some items and the FP Day 20% discount definitely put me in a buying mode. The only thing that kept my purchase "down" was the fact that I am planning a "grail type" purchase later in November or December.

I am looking forward to visiting the store in person although I am unsure when that trip will occur.

No affiliation with this dealer and I encourage others to visit and explore their site and offerings.

Thank You Appelboom!
