Does a new nib count? Hope so as it set me back the price of many pens. Anyhow, I wanted a second nib for my Pelikan demonstrator. Getting an EF.

Four pens followed me home from the Dallas Pen Show this year. I had sort of planned on two of them. The biggest impulse was a Sailor Pro Gear Slim Shiki-Oriori Manyou limited edition pen that Anderson Pens swapped the stock medium-fine nib for an extra-fine nib. I really like the look of the pen, the feel of it and love how it writes. I had no intention of getting it, in spite of how it looked, but when Brian offered to swap the nibs, I broke down.

Current Daily Carry: Pilot Custom 743 with 14k Posting nib (Sailor Kiwa-Guro), Sailor 1911L Realo Champagne with 21k Extra Fine nib (Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu). Platinum Century 3776 Bourgogne (Diamine Syrah), Nakaya Portable Writer Midori with 14k Extra Extra Fine nib (Lamy Peridot), Pilot Vanishing Point Stealth Black with Extra Fine nib unit (Pilot Blue Black), a dozen Nockco DotDash index cards of various sizes and a Traveler's Notebook.

Nemosine singularity with 0.6 mm stub. Couldn't be happier

I almost bought one of those on Wednesday, in a bout of "retail therapy" after having a really crummy week and a half. But I wasn't so enamored of the colors, so instead I got another Noodler's Konrad (this one in the Medieval Lapis color resin).

I'll admit, though, I'm still thinking about those Singularity pens, and when I tested the different nibs a couple of weeks ago the 0.6 mm stub was pretty sweet.

That was the exact same scenario I found myself in this week. I skipped on the Nemosine and instead bought another Noodlers Konrad. But I'll probably pull the trigger on that Nemosine in a few weeks.

The best part was the $55.00 price tag, including shipping, for both pens together. When I've got a moment, I'll post some before/after pictures, but I'm very happy I just happen to be scrolling eBay and pounced.

I don't like to make empty promises, :) so here is a Before grouping, pics that were from the auction, and a couple of semi-After photos. The Duofold Junior is now completely restored, a relatively straight-forward job (a button filler) save for the section being unwilling (at first) to come out, and it is a really, really nice writing pen. The Senior (striped) will be a bit longer, as the Vac filler doesn't want to budge and I am not interested in cracking the barrel; I've done an exterior cleanup, and testing by dipping shows it, also, to be a fine writer. All in all, a very good investment!

You got my favorite color of the striped Duofolds (I picked up a button filler model last year at the Ohio Pen Show). Of course you also got a MUCH better price for yours, but mine has an oblique semi-flex nib.... :P

Apparently I inadvertently made another impulsive buy yesterday without realizing it at the time. I had gone back into Birmingham Pens when I discovered that the box the Konrad had come in was actually for an Ahab (I didn't care one way or the other, except someone might buy an Ahab there at some point and be a little startled when getting home that they had the wrong paperwork inside the box -- especially if it was someone new to FPs...). So I stopped in late Saturday afternoon to return the box, and ended up getting a 4-1/2 oz. bottle of Blue Ghost (what I'm going to do with THAT MUCH invisible ink is beyond me, but they didn't have smaller bottles of it...).

When I opened the box up this morning, thinking that there might be one of those mini black lights (I have one from some other Noodler's ink, but am not sure where it is at the moment), I discovered that instead there was a Charlie pen....

Of course I already have a Charlie which is being dedicated to Blue Ghost (from a sample I got awhile back).....

This week I ordered pens from far ends of the spectrum, price & time wise at least. I don't expect they will be radically different performance wise.

After reading Samrat's review of the Matte Black Ebonite Gama Kuyil, I took a look at the ASA pen site and ended up ordering one for myself. It is on its way from India as we speak!

I've had a pretty beat up old pen with a great nib that my wife picked up at an estate auction over 10 years ago. The nib is a Diamond Medal Diplomat #8 14k nib in excellent condition. The pen may be a Diplomat model, I'm not sure because a previous owner hacked it up badly apparently removing an inscription and generally abusing the pen. The nib deserves a better pen. I contacted Shawn Newton to see if he could fit my old nib into one of his pens. Of course he can! So, I've custom Orville on order. It will be in the mail in 11 or 12 months.

Both were pretty impulsive but one will require extreme patience!

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

I can't remember my last impulsive pen purchase (maybe never). But I have not had a drop of alcohol for nigh on five years, and I have been sorely tempted today (I live in the USA). And maybe I should indulge the pen desire rather than the booze desire, cuz the one is way less dangerous than the other.

Today the impulse wasn't so much for pens as for ink and I ordered a set that came with two Pelikan Edelstein Inks of the Year and they included two Goldspot Jinhao Pens. The total cost was the same as the inks alone so it wasn't a tough decision.

I do not know about my last impulsive purchase but I know I am going to make one when I sign the sale contract on this house, which should be very soon. It is not the money, it is the occasion as this will be a significant shift in our surroundings, and will be to our last "big" house.

Black Lamy Al-Star a couple of weeks ago (Jet pens had it on sale and I liked the color). Am currently valiantly resisting the urge for the dark lilac Safari - good thing the Al-Star isn't available in that color or I'd be lost...

Good luck with the 'shift'. Pack those pens carefully.

This beauty is on its way to me. Couldn't stop the pen acquisition fever.
