What Was Your Last Impulsive Pen Acquisition?

A Faber-Castell Loom with a fine nib.

I also have a Loom with a Medium nib. A great, solid pen with a very smooth, flawless nib and totally reliable function. Grip section could offer a little bit more grip, but that's it with the criticism. No idea why they are not more popular, they beat the sh!t out of the Lamy AL-Star quality wise, for the same price or less.

I think the flashy appearance of the Lamy safari and al-star appeals to many people. Compared to the Lamys, the Loom is also a bit on the heavy side. Maybe not everyone likes a heavy pen (I love it, though :D).

Richard Binder still grinds? Am I correct in assuming that is only at pen shows in America?

Omas Bologna in the gorgeous Burkina celluloid with a medium nib. I had almost given up hope of finding a new Omas in Burkina, but a few turned up on Chatterley Luxuries' website.

My wife probably thinks I'm running a Pelikan Rescue here, but I don't consider any of my pen buys "impulsive". I fully intend to buy one of everything. The only thing in doubt is which one I buy today

Impulsive buys is what I call all the different sketchbooks and papers piled up stacked carefully in the back office waiting for their turn... I don't need any more paper, but sometimes it just happens.

Just bought another Lamy Safari. I found a Dutch webshop that still sells the Lime neon green limited edition and I couldn't help myself..

Visconti Divina Metropolitan. I've always liked the Divina, but the combination with the Wall Street celluloid was too much to resist.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Noodlers Konrad Acrylic to replace the one I lost 2 years ago. I kept on missing the silly thing even though I've acquired many nicer pens in the meanwhile. So thats a fun thing to look forward to. I got the Olde Salem acrylic which I expect to be eye-popping.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

After getting a bunch of vintage pens, I ended up finding the green Retropop Pilot Metro too irresistible. And now it's my daily carry with Diamine Green Black.

It was not exactly impulsive in the sense of quick, because I have spent a month negotiating this purchase. Rather, it was non-rational in that it offends my principle of not owning two identical pens.

I have just ordered a Waterman 0552 with matching pencil in their original case, from a local seller. The 0552 needs a new sac at the least. The seller mentioned it was hard to move the lever so I hope they have not strained or damaged the lever box.

I have to hope also that the nib comes up all right, there being no blindingly obvious flaw in the photos (like the tip completely broken off, as with a current Onoto seller). The gold barrel looks good. The pencil apparently lacks innards so I expect it to be useless, which was also taken into account in my price.

So, impulsive because I did not need it but my present 0552 is one of my favourite pens so it was hard to resist based on that; and what if I could actually fix the pencil? B)

I've often wanted a striped Duofold, and have only casually kept my eye on them. I almost purchased one about 3 months ago, as it was a fine example, but while reasonably priced, I passed. About a week and a half ago, I saw a listing come online with a blue striped Senior Duofold as well as a black Duofold Junior from the early 30's. The photos showed some 'issues', but I had a hunch it was a combination of poor photos and pretty dirty pens.

It was a BIN so I punched the button, and about a week later they arrived. All good suspicions were confirmed: most of it was cosmetic. I've done basic exterior restoration and fully completed the Junior. Shout-out to Ron Zorn and the denizens of the Repair forum for some ideas on smart heat source technique. The striped... the section finally unscrewed, but the filler doesn't want to budge, and this pen is so pretty that I simply won't risk damage; if it doesn't give in the next day or two with patient work, it will go off to Danny Fudge.

The funny part is that my eye was on the Senior, but the nib on the Jr is remarkably good, and while the pen seems short when capped, it is a perfect length when posted. Completely in the rotation of "journaling pens".

The best part was the $55.00 price tag, including shipping, for both pens together. When I've got a moment, I'll post some before/after pictures, but I'm very happy I just happen to be scrolling eBay and pounced.

A TWSBI Eco Clear medium and Stub just jumped into my Amazon cart the other day. Should be here before the end of the week.

A Lamy 2000. I had been drooling over it for months (I'm a sucker for Bauhaus and Bauhaus-related design) but kept telling myself I did not need it, etc etc. Then, last Monday on my lunch break, I went and bought it.

An impulse buy, yes, but one that I'm quite happy with :)

Oh, God...been on a TWSBI kick lately.

The Ecos arrived today and they are both great so far. I do like the 580 better, but the Ecos feel quality!
