Blue 01- Hieronymus

Hieronymus Stationers Ag is Suisse company that specialises in the manufacture and sale of premium stationery goods (paper, pens, inks). The company is located in Zurich but operates also via the website www.hieronymus-cp.com. They offer a wide variety of luxury products and I believe they market themselves skillfully and in an elegant way. I advice you to watch short promotional clips on their internet site.

Among other products Hieronymus offers inks. I'm not sure who makes them for you but the bottles are unique and loos stunning on the photos:

The inks are definitely priced premium - with the price of 48 CHF they outclass Caran d'Ache and Iroshizuku inks. I believe only Luis Vuitton inks are more expensive (50 euros / bottle)? If I'm wrong, please, correct me.

I've received few samples of their inks. I won't tell you which ones, lety it be surprise :) The inks I've already reviewed are:

  1. Blue 01
  2. Green 01

Blue 01 has interesting shade. Yes, I know. It's scary. I start to develop taste for blue - grey - blacks. The end is near. But don't be afraid. The moment you should start feeling worried will be when I'll write enthusiastic review on comy cyano-turquoise (like Diamine Soft Mint).

The flow and lubrication are good and it displays some water resistance which I always find useful. If I'll ever be in Zurich I'll get myself a bottle of one of their inks - it won't be Blue 01 but I won't say I dislike it. Definitely it's not banal.

Look at that shading . . .

visvamitra, would you like me to send you sample of Seitz-Kreuznach Navy Blue ?
It's my new fave ink of the moment - blame Cyber6.
It looks a lot like the Blue 01 coming out of my Faber-Castell Ondoro but at about 1/100 th the price.

I like this--very professional without being funereal. Looks like it might sheen a tiny bit too.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I watched the videos on the Hieronymus site. The letterpress one was especially enjoyable. My father had a Heidelberg automatic letterpress just like the one shown. I remember my mother just about had a heart attack when he bought it (around 1960), but it turned out to be incredibly productive and reliable. It was my first exposure to German engineering, and it brought a smile to my face to see one working, even if briefly.

Thanks for the review - it's a lovely colour. Their Violet 01 looks great as well.

I noticed that their website says this:

The five exclusive colour tones are manufactured from premium dyes and each offered in three different hues.

Each of the 02 and 03 "hues" look like progressively watered-down versions of the 01 ink, but there must be more to it than that, right? ;)

@Cyber6 - from within Poland you say. Interesting :) I'll keep on waiting then :)

Coworker is visiting family an hour away from you... I asked him if he could drop something in the mail, I believe he did on Tuesday this week. I hope your polish post is good and expedient. ;)
