Any Other Fake Lamys?

Hello All,

Two months ago I started my dive into fountain pens and bought my first "Safari" which I found out today was a fake (yes it was the charcoal EF one with converter). What is frightening is that I have bought a Lamy 2000 on Amazon for $128 from "BestSource OfficeSupplies", and now I am afraid it too is a counterfeit. While the 2000 is around $159 on gouletpens.com, this was is significantly cheaper which now has me worried.

Has anyone ever gotten a fake 2000 before? I cannot find much info online, so I'm hoping the production process is too expensive for companies to "fake" the pen but you never know. Would there be any sure ways to tell if it was a fake?

I haven't spotted any fake 2000s either. A good rule of thumb is that piston fillers are hardly ever counterfeited mainly because they're more expensive to make. As long as it works I wouldn't worry.

Thanks guys for the response. I received my Lamy in the mail yesterday and after looking at the machining, fit and finish, and nib construction I think it would be very difficult to fake a Lamy 2000 and still make a profit (even the cap is decently complex and for what you are getting the 2000 is a pretty high-value pen as it is). To be sure I checked the packaging, and the materials are identical to the ones that came with my CP1, so I am certain it must be real as traditionally counterfeits can never seem to get the packaging right. That being said I am very pleased with the quality.

While I'm on the subject, does anyone have any particular black or dark inks for daily writing with an extra fine 2k? I'm using the Lamy Black in it currently, though I was considering Sailor Blue Black, Noodler's HoD, or Omas Black mainly because I have been using the Lamy Black in everything and I want to try something else - I am open to any recommendations!

I've never yet seen a fake 2000. Mine loves the FPN Dumas Tulipe Noire ink

WATCH OUT, I just bought a fake Lamy Dialog 3. It was the white version. Luchy me I have another one white and I can compare them. The fake one is a matte white, tha rubber seal that is supposed to be rubber is plastic, the nib is stiff (and probably nod gold), the lines on the cap and barrel don't match up, the twist mechanism is horrendous. And the cap has a notch where the real one doesn't. I'll try to post some pics.
