This pen is really really a workhorse, lightweight tho'.

It first came to India in the 'green channel' thru William Pen I think around 2008. MRP around 4500 then.

E bay Fbay all such 'bays' were unheard of then.

Buy an original book at Oxford over cappuccino or buy an original brand from William was altogether a different pleasurable experience, at a relatively higher cost of course, compared to 'eat street' kiosk sellers.

Does the clip also have the small ridges found under the GvFC clips designed to grip fabric without pulling the fabric?

Really loved the colour, a strikingly beautiful orange contrasted very well with the chrome cap. I am using the smoked oak version and has the necessary heft and the feel of unpolished wood in hand takes it to another level all together.

I just got mine out & gave it a "good look/see" & can report it does NOT offer this feature! The underside has a bit of a "rolled back" edge from the top side of the clip. I did check the clip on the GFVC "Intuition" & can see that the underside of it's clip is perfectly formed & SMOOTH just as the "top" of the clip. I don't use them "clipped" to anything so it doesn't really matter to me. And not a real surprise their "higher end" pen would be more nicely finished.

I could not have noticed an Ondoro those days, but William Penn had opened one outlet at the then Calcutta's City Center.

I remember them showing cross/watermans with right hand-gloves on, like in the MB boutique :P

As rightly said, this one does not have those ridges, while I could find it in my GvFC Intuition, Elemento & :) the cheaper of the design series Ambition

Thank you and this orange is quite pleasing to the eyes. Smoked one is really beautiful, along with the heft, each barrel is kind of unique since it's made out in a similar fashion to other wooden GvFCs. You are absolutely right about unpolished wood.

Sonik

Sonik, you are absolutely right about uniqueness of each barrel of the Smoked oak Ondoro. I had the luxury of selecting from 3 pieces shown to me at TY Lee's pen shop at Taipei, Taiwan (worth a visit if you happen to be in that part of the world) and I have selected mine after a through scrutiny of the wood patterns and the most perfect cut.

Best,

Pbhat

  • 7 years later...

I searched the forum for "Ondoro" because I just received my second one in the mail - I know, that sequence makes no sense.  I bought a black model to keep my orange one handy.  I just love the pen.  It has a wet, buttery nib and the shape makes it unique looking and easy to hold.
