Saw The Wahlnut & Decobands Today.....a Good Day!

Heard from Syd yesterday that my blue Decoband is ready to be shipped as soon as the boxes are finished. He gave me the option of waiting for a 14k nib, but I'm going to take the 18k. I don't do that much flex writing anyway, and the nib felt fine to me when I wrote with it at the DC show. There won't be many blues out there, especially with the 18k nib, so it will be somewhat rare. I do agree that the 14k will be safer to flex, if that's what one wants.

Photos don't do these pens justice.

These pens look amazing, and I am ready to buy now. However, I want to know how the superflex nib runs, how fine is the line? How responsive is it? And does the feed keep up when flexing? Right now torn between the Rosewood and the Blue Lapis. My wife loves Lapis, and I think I might get one of each. (Because I have to give the wife something lest she kills me for buying this)

If anyone has experienced these pens, please let me know. I've been so disappointed with every other modern flex/semi-flex out there, and I have a lot of them. I don't expect 1920's wet noodle flex, but do want a functional everyday writer that can give me flex when I want it.

It is a modern flex nib. As much hope as I have for it to be a super-flex or a wet noodle, I have significant doubts that it will be. I would love to be proven wrong with a solid video or written review though :D

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

The 18k that I wrote with in Washington flexed a surprising amount, especially for an 18k nib The unflexed line was an American fine (in between a Japanese fine and a German fine). I have not written with the new 14k nib, but I believe it is more like an extra-fine unflexed, and it should be safer to flex it more over time than the 18k nib. Others please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

This is my recollection also. It is also just a very nice looking nib.

That nib is indeed beautiful, and I like the unique color of the feed.

Well, I have plunked down for a Rosewood one. Once it comes in I'll attempt a review of it. Never done one, but this might be my first. I'd love to see some reviews if anyone has received theirs. Looks like a beautiful pen, even if the nib doesn't perform as advertised, I hope it at least writes nicely for the price.

I was torn between this or a new Platinum trim 149, but I think the Wahl is rarer and if works as good as it looks, I will be happy.

I was interested to see that apparently at least one Lapis Blue has been delivered. I am still very much looking forward to arrival of my Rosewood. Maybe I can pick it up from Syd at the Ohio show next week?

Have received 3 status update emails from Syd since late August.

Syd has been updating everyone as he has better idea of order status.

Understand everyone being anxious to get their pen. I'd love to have mine now too.

But what more can Syd do than what he's been doing?

Don't need emails every week saying that nothing has changed, more to come next week....etc, etc..

Just my 2¢......

+1. I have received updates from Syd before I became anxious enough to contact him. And I know that anything manufactured in Italy can be subject to delays.

I'm looking forward to seeing Syd at the Ohio Show and at least saying hello and visiting the sample units.

Has anyone yet received their DecoBand(s)? Anxious for mine that I ordered but I've a long time to wait still (I think) Need videos and photos ASAP so satisfy my waiting blues. :-)

The last update I heard was delivery expected about November 20.

I saw Syd at the Ohio Pen Show and we had a nice chat. The boxes have finally been released by Customs. The delay on the pens was (at least in part) for a technical reason and is worth enduring, IMO.

Sorry to hear about the death in family. As for pens, excellent news on both fronts. It's going to be a good pen week , though again, I am sorry to hear of your loss.
