Hmmm. How about "Earth's Blood" or "Earth's Heart"? It's got that dark red tone I think of for blood, but it's also got this sort of warm earthiness to the color.

ETA: Oh, and when I think "sepia" I think of old sepia-toned photographs. So I did a quick Google search and found a website that talked about how (and why) sepia-toning was done on photos (most famously by Matthew Brady, who was, effectively, one of the world's first photo-journalists, taking pictures of Civil War battles and their aftermath); and here's a sepia-toned image from that site:

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I was going to suggest "Baby poop", but thought better of it. Then, as I was out hiking in the hills, I ran into the perfect name - "RATTLESNAKE!" . Actually, rattlesnakes are beautiful and span the range of colors in De Atramentis Sepia. I think that "Rattlesnake" would be a great name!

Chestnut...?

Or "Kastanie" if we shall stick to German...

Sepia by the way... The area in the water below the boat is sepia to me.

This color is a dead ringer for the darker, red-purple-brown wood found in the hearts of some trees. I'd call it Heartwood.

Heartwood Sound nice to me have to look the colour up in the internet

thanks :)

I really like the chocolate options - cherry chocolate (or chocolate cherry) or black forest cake or bavarian forest cake or devil's food cake all rather sum it up :-)

Cherry is nice and the colour is Fitting.

Bavarian Foerset cake is nice since Bavaria is in Germany

And inspired me for this

Well... I don't speak German, but I know some words. Also, chestnut is kastanje in Swedish, so the difference to German isn't that big.

I will see if I can stop at one of the local wineries today and get a picture. I just need to catch it at the right time . When they first separate the grape skins from the juice after the first ferment it is a very similar color to your sample.

The color changes to a very different look when the skins dry and it becomes more of a dusty pink.
